The Orb change is about helping new player experience

I have seen the screeching about the orb changes, the gnashing of teeth, frothing of the mouth, and farting in the wind. Currently new players cannot spawn orbs at all. Their are several bounties in DOE relating to orbs as well. So they were being pulled into this activity and unable to make any progress. The old orb system helped veteran players over new players. New players wouldn't be able to produce orbs until significant time and effort was put into the game. Meaning by default many of the mods they got early on would be useless. With this new change new players, can start the game with an impactful new mod that provides instant game change. After looking at it like this, I think this is a good change. I think it simplifies orb generation and reduces the massive investment required to produce orbs. Good job Bungie.

  • So because Bungie made a bad choice and lacked any foresight into new players the entire committed community has to suffer? I just came back before this season and was forced into deleting all my armor sets which I had several sets depending on the activity be it pvp or pve related. Now, after yet again building multiple sets off armor focused on charged with light they are going to make them obsolete. I tell ya, if they want player retention this isn’t the path. I’ll be damned if I build another set of armor to match whatever this change is, tbh this whole thing has me considering canceling my preorder and going on another 3 year hiatus.
