Just saying, maybe the nerf posts would stop.
Edit: feel free to discuss I’m all for it. That being said, if you’ve been playing PvP games for the last 15 years I challenge you to name a worse “AAA” multiplayer experience.

Damn, been playing PvP games for the last 30+ years. Guess I’m out of the discussion! 😂

This game would die without pvp. Idk why people think pve is in a good state. There’s basically nothing to do a month after every new content drop.

Edited by michael: 12/31/2021 4:41:12 PM
That being said, if you’ve been playing PvP games for the last 15 years I challenge you to name a worse “AAA” multiplayer experience.
I would rather play destiny than cold war, overwatch, or halo 4. Those games are all MADE FOR multiplayer and destiny is a better than them as a primarily PvE game. If you want to make an effort to compare apples to apples and compare destiny to another primarily PvE game with optional PvP on the side, compare it to Dark souls 3. Which, don't get me wrong, is one of my favourite games ever and might be my favourite of all time. The PvP in that game is completely and utterly unplayable.

21 RepliesThe minute PVP dies or is removed is when everybody will leave. This game will become recycled content to the max with everything being in Eververse.

6 RepliesName a worse AAA FPS PvP experience? Oh man you are SO on. Let’s go. CoD WWII CoD MW2019 (admittedly subjective) CoD Black Ops; Cold War CoD Vanguard (the worst one on this list) CoD Warzone Battlefield V AT LAUNCH (much better than D2 now) Battlefield 2042 Halo MCC launch on PC (didn’t get better until like Halo 3’s launch and even then super sweaty) Valorant (mostly cuz of insane mtx) Overwatch PUBG I mean I could go on with older titles dipping into 2015 and older (I’m looking at you Halo 4, 5, CoD Ghosts) but I think the point is made with this list :)

3 RepliesI wouldn't like it.For me pve is just a job, you farm your weapons, you get your upgrade materials and pvp is when the fun begins.Yeah, crucible needs some improvements but the combat alone feels great. If they removed pvp, there would be no point for me to play, since fighting a real opponent feels way more rewarding than fighting AI. For example, Borderlands 2 a fantastic game, but after 2 months I got bored.

5 RepliesEdited by WormChi: 12/30/2021 6:21:05 PMYou mean how they separate most of the changes now? Or the majority of nerfs come from PvE players using the same three weapons in all content? Those nerfs? Edit: iPhone buttons are to small just like the groin area of those who talk about grammar on a video game forum

5 RepliesYou haven't played anywhere close to enough PvP to pass any judgment on it
-
2 RepliesThe pve content is so minimal the game would just die… unless people actually enjoy patrol farming or doing the same activity over and over and over
-
2 RepliesCouldn't despise your post title more. If Pvp goes I'm gone too. PvE is great fun but it means so much less if one can't go and test their findings against other guardians. PvE the enemies are predictable but PvE you're really testing your metal against other people who can think for themselves and make plays. I think people seriously underestimate how important pvp is and has been to the vibrancy of Destiny. It's going to get even better with rift coming at some point and new maps. (Far over due).
Just saying, maybe the nerf posts would stop. Edit: feel free to discuss I’m all for it. That being said, if you’ve been playing PvP games for the last 15 years I challenge you to name a worse “AAA” multiplayer experience.
If PvP dies the rest of this game dies along side it. There are thousands of players who actually enjoy the game mode and not everyone would be content with replaying the same strikes and raids 24/7. And I assure you D2 is no where near the worst AAA multiplayer game. lawbreakers, battleborn, and Evolve all take that title. You know what all 3 of these games have in common. They’re all currently dead. As in all operating game servers are completely shutdown. They were all monotonous, boring and super repetitive. Everything that destiny will be if PvP is taken away.

1 ReplyIf destiny was just a pve game it would die. Or at the very least the population playing the game will sink to a terrible amount of numbers after a few weeks of a new season.
-
16 RepliesIf PvP died, Destiny would die - it’s part of the magic that makes the game so successful and unique. Yes, if you compare destiny PvP in a vacuum to something like an Overwatch or CoD then it loses every time but that’s kind of the same if you compared its PvE to PvE only games like God of War - there’s no competition. Destiny’s success is the sum of its parts and how you construct your guardian to go through these various parts. It’s not the best at anything (apart from maybe gun play) but it’s the best at combining all these aspects and no other game comes close. Many have actually failed. Games similar to destiny that destiny beats ‘all round’: Warframe Avengers The Division Outriders Borderlands Anthem (lol) Etc.

2 RepliesBungie is no longer a AAA developer. AAA developers generate new content. Bungie sells old content and reskins to the remaining addicts who still play this game. I’m not blaming Bungie. I’d sell the same thing over and over and over again to my customers if they were actually stupid enough to keep buying. Bungie has a unique business model. Sell the same content over and over, ignore their customers, and the addicts keep on throwing money at the screen. Bungie is just taking advantage of what their customers will give them. If Destiny players want more then they should stop complaining and quit the game. Bungie has already shown they could care less about all the complaints. Money is the only true motivator.

5 RepliesEdited by Sweet Lew 88: 12/30/2021 1:32:49 AMThe nerfs would still happen. PvP doesn't cause every nerf in the game. Destiny is a looter shooter, chasing loot is a major part of the game.

They have killed it. Unbalanced matchmaking, forced cross play, rampant cheating, ability nerfs, forgetting exotics should be powerful.
-
7 RepliesThey don't need to let it die. But what they DO need to let go of is the notion that this game's PvP is the heir to the legacy of Halo and its PVP. This game will NEVER give that experience....and trying to FORCE it to do so will damage what this game is best at, and cause it to be an anchor around the neck of the part of the game that is innovative. PvE. I liken it to the "stagedoor dad" who was a professional athlete, who can't bring himself to see that his son hates sports, but as a natural gift for music. So instead of getting the kid a piano and music lessons, he keeps buying him sports equipment. Then can't seem to understand why the kid is unhappy. PvP is floundering in this game because Bungie....and the PVP community....is trying to force the game to be something that it isn't...and isn't part of its nature.

Oh there are plenty that are worse than Destiny…the problem is that no one plays those games. So they get quickly forgotten. But Crucible is not up to industry standards of a pvp experience. No question. Among games that people actually play, The Division 2s pvp is pretty bad. Especially the open-world pvp in the Dark Zone. Imagine all the problems you have with Crucible on PC….and Gambit….rolled up into a singularly painful experience. It’s a Ganker’s and Griefer’s Paradise: Let me use me end-game gear and get three of my best friend to ruin the game for others. Wish I had $5 for every time in Division 1 where some a-hole with a sniper was camping the entrance to a DZ and thanking pot shots at people as they came in.
-
But, but , buuuuut....PvP kweeps the gaem aloive innit yeahhhhh. (https://warmind.io/activity - 87/100 guardians not currently playing PvP) (As always, the real issue is Bungie letting the sideshow PvP affect the main event PvE side of the game. They have got better at separating the two but need to do more. No surprise there...)
-
55 RepliesIf pvp dies, the game dies. A massively high percentage of the population only play pve content to get guns to use in pvp.
-
5 Repliesthis is a pve game anyway, pvp is just a side game mode people play when theres not enough pve content
-
I don't mind that the game has pvp but the "nerf this nerf that" posts needs to be ignored and pvp balancing must not affect pve at all.

2 RepliesEdited by Noct: 12/28/2021 3:19:57 PMDE came to this realization years ago. They have no problem letting you be crazy powerful in PvE because they don't have to worry about PvP balance. How many times over the years have weapons or classes been ruined because of PvP. I just wish they would stop putting PvE weapons, catalysts, quests, etc to force you into PvP. If I want to play PvP I will, but forcing me to use a non meta weapons to complete a catalyst just ruins the experience. While I agree with the sentiment Bungie would never anger their vocal PvP streamer base.
-
1 ReplyBungie is already killing it. No need to let it die.

Edited by Avid_Coffee_Drinker: 12/29/2021 3:21:28 AMI once did a “Do you play D2 for PvE or PvP?” poll on these forums. The result was roughly 75% for PVE and 25% for PvP (with 0.001% for Gambit). As lopsided as these totally accurate polling results are, purposely losing a fourth of the player base is not something I see Bungie doing. Also, even though Destiny PvP has more problems and bugs than a piece of flypaper with the same lifespan, it is still my personal favorite fps PvP to play. I have several friends who left the game only to come back later because they missed the gunplay. I think PvP is still a major selling point for the game. I enjoy PvE, but if they were to ever cut PvP from the game I’d stop playing.
oh and whiners gonna whine.
