Grasp Of Avarice crashing and turning off Playstation

The first time this happened was a few days ago when I was running the dungeon. My ps randomly turned off so I thought it was just a loose cord or power outlet. From then on, it started happening only whenever I did that dungeon. There are times where it doesn’t happen and times where it does happen. Whenever I’m specifically running through grasp of avarice, my ps decides to turn off whenever it wants. The way it turns off is the incorrect way so whenever that happens, I could possibly have my ps data corrupted, damaged, or lost. I’m scared of doing the dungeon now because of that reason. I don’t want to end up losing all my data over a dungeon crashing my whole console. UPDATE: The problem is now happening outside of the dungeon so basically I could be doing any other activity and it still randomly crashes.

  • My Xbox Series X does this as well during the Dungeon. I've also had it happen in VoG a handful of times. It might be my console but Destiny is the only game this thing happens with. I wish Bungie would look into the possibility a rare issue is causing some consoles grief.

    • PS5 full shut off? Like someone pulled the cord? It's been plaguing my system the past couple months when playing PS5 games I tried clearing the cache. Nope Rebuilding the database. No Doing a full factory reset. Not it Finally busted it open to try cleaning it out, and boy howdy, she had some serious accumulation. Cleaned all the parts with Q-Tips, Air Duster, and elbow grease It's been running fine since I did it a few days ago. I've seen people claim that any one of these steps is their fix tho

      • To add to what kellygreen45 has already posted. Make sure it is not overheating are all the vents clear of dust? get the hoover and clean if not. Make sure plenty of air can circulate around the console. If I am going to be for an extended period of time or in the hotter months I have a fan close by to use to keep it cool.

        • 1. PS4 or PS5. 2. Any specific error codes? 3. I'd start of doing two things a. Check for a system update, or reinstall the console system if is up to date. You'll sometimes get a corrupted download b. Clear your cache...especially if is a PS5. If the cache fills up it can cause it to crash. I don't remember how to do it on PS4, but on PS5 press and hold the start button on the CONSOLE for 10 seconds or untill you hear two rapid beeps. That will start the console in safe mode, and call up a menu of options. Pick the one for clearing the cache, and follow the instructions. Destiny was having a problem with the game crashing about 6 mos ago and causing "beagle" errors. Which would force you to have to reinstall the entire game. I found that clearing the cache dramatically reduced their occurrence. If you are getting specific errors, post in the Help section and see if you can get someone from Bungie to reply.
