Most of us know that in the Witch Queen reveal, they did say that year 5 will have a returning raid, post s16, that isn't Crota's End. Most think it'll be Wrath, because they also promised a new way to get outbreak and its catalyst. But that would require way more new assets that currently don't exist in destiny 2 than kf would. There are numerous hive based environmental assets in d2's files (historically), between Hellas Basin, the arcology, the tangled shore, the moon, and the dreaming city. The bugged dreadnought orbit screen also happened b4 the dcv, which means at some point in the history of Destiny 2 there was some intent somewhere in bungie to have the dreadnought appear in destiny 2. But in all of d2 there's significantly fewer usable assets for wrath. The only siva is in ornaments. The cosmodrome has no part in the raid, but could have some usable parts. It would require the addition of an enemy faction with the most differences from their original counterparts, in a non-yearly dlc release.
Mechanically and design speaking, kf will be far easier for bungie to bring back while still giving us a worthwhile and memorable experience. It'd be less work on the raw design and structure, and more time to make it better than d1 while still feeling true to its original release.
Outbreak will likely enter the kiosk (if it hasn't already, idk) and the caty will prob go into the strike/crucible/gambit loot pool like most. The caty could also come through mithrax, as some "piece of tech that eramis's crew did manage to steal during the zero hour mission."

1 ReplyIf you look at Destiny 2's history, unlike D1, they never tie the raid to the actual seasonal storyline. DSC enemies, particularly Tanik's had nothing to do with the storyline with the main enemy being Cabal. LW, we had Taken, but the main enemy was Scorn. Shadowkeep had Hive, but GoS was Vex. Then of course, there was the re-released VoG, but the storyline enemy this season was Fallen. As much sense as it would make, I don't see vaulted raids be returned to fit the storyline. Otherwise, Crown would make more sense, in a matter of speaking. I honestly hope it's King's Fall since we now have mantling, and no Bones are needed, and the raid was super easy before, so I can only imagine how much easier it will be with optimal DPS weapons

That would make me 😊. Loved Kings Fall. Those chicken feet are sorely missed.
post s16, that isn't Crota's End.
What makes you scratch off crota so certainly?
Most think it'll be Wrath, because they also promised a new way to get outbreak and its catalyst.
No most think it'll be kings fall, no one thinks Wrath because of outbreak cat - they assume it'll come out like how every catalyst that's original way was removed did
-
Outbreak has been in the kiosk, they already said something along the line of vaulted catalysts dropping from whatever seasonactivity with witch queen.
-
7 RepliesKings Fall is an ordeal tbh. They need to shorten it up.
-
1 ReplyI think crotas end probably. But who knows!
-
I hope so. The VoG reprisal took a raid I didn't like and made it actually very fun, and KF is to this day my favourite raid, so if the reprisal is anything like VoG it will be awesome. Id also be thrilled with Wrath of the machine

Edited by Robyn_Tx: 12/30/2021 12:58:15 AMGods, I hope not. I really hated that raid. But I must say it will be funny to see the LFG requirements like must be able to get pass the phallus wall section without dying.
-
4 RepliesKf very boring raid…. Standing on plates for 90 % of activity is not fun
-
Kings Fall was fun but they really need to fix A LOT of BS in that raid for it to work properly in D2. For most LFG (heck, even good teams) you needed at least 1 self rez for undo some BS that raid did to your team. Like the shade of Oryx insta killing the person who gets teleported before they even get teleported. Or the War Priest buff killing the person early. The list goes on.
-
I wouldn't mind it coming back if they improved the weapons. The only remotely good weapons from King's Fall were the sniper and the machine gun.
-
3 RepliesRecycled content from D1 is one of the main factors as to why I have lost a lot of interest in D2 personally recently. I've already been there and done that. Gimme something new.
-
6 RepliesYea KF is most likely Wrath would have been my personal pick but they would have to bring back the spliced fallen CE I don't know maybe some changes could make it a better raid....or make change to make it a dungeon ...since its kinda been the meme since forever
-
2 RepliesLore wise it would make most sense to bring back Kings fall and it's slightly above WOTM in terms of likeliness of being added Crotas end has a pretty low chance (sadly) just cause how easy it'll be now to complete it now that every character has a reliable and consistent way of healing compared to destiny 2, infact it'll be more likely to be added as a dungeon unless they really tone up the difficulty Wrath of the machine wouldn't make much sense lore wise since SIVA isn't a threat anymore, however like you said, this'll give people a chance to get outbreaks catalyst and I think that it'll do fine in destiny 2 in terms of balance Kings fall is the most likely to be added with the addition of witch queen in terms of lore, I never played Kings fall so I don't know if it would be too easy in D2 but I think that would be the most likely to get added
-
4 Repliesthey brought back VoG and just added it to the destinations tab, so they could bring back any raid (well kingsfall or wrath) without having to add more/new assets to D2.
-
Hell yeah. I hope so. My favorite raid.
-
2 RepliesOverthink stuff much? Witch queen = hive Kings fall = hive Boom.
-
The only way I see it being WotM would be if the seasonal narratives move toward giving us a new eliksni enemy. Currently it’s kind of hard to justify new campaigns where we slaughter the fallen after our alliance with the house of light. A way around that would be to reintroduce the splicers through the siva on Nessus. If a season brought them in, then the splicer assets would be in game, and we’d have a new enemy to fight
-
I’d be fine with King’s Fall or Wrath of the Machine. If Bungie brings back Crota’s End, it needs to return as a dungeon and not a raid.
-
4 RepliesAs much as I would prefer Wrath to be brought back I'm pretty sure you called it correctly. They had some of the old Dreadnaught assets back in season of Arrivals on top of everything mentioned. I also just ran that raid and it wasn't as bad a I remembered it being.
-
I was never able to get past the first flying ships part. they would always fly away from me when i jump. I hated that place
-
Worst raid that I ever play….. I can’t play other characters but only titan good enough for me play that raid…. Others dies too quicky……. Wrath of the machines will be in it….
-
I hope not. Probably the most boring raid ever
-
King's Fall was a great raid. The atmosphere, the artwork, the ship jumping puzzle. Epic! I completed it at least 100 times. But I don't have as much time to raid as I used to, and that raid was SUPER GLITCHY. So many great runs ended from no fault of our own. I hope it gets 1 or 2 sections cut from it, or I and many other players may never have a chance to complete it.
-
Nope. It'll be Wrath
-
It'll be Kings Fall because you children would riot if they brought another raid back before it
