Does playing at 60 give you an advantage over someone playing at 30? òO
I play on PS4 and every time I get totally ripped off in PVP, than by someone with a PS5 or Xbox.
So I would be interested in your opinion and experience. ;-)
Merry Christmas ^^

my stats dropped when I started playing on PS5 even running at 60fps, so unless I'm a one off, I can't say it is. The FOV, on the other hand is definitely a big advantage though.

24 RepliesOf course it’s an advantage… Objectively so… The people who voted no are just wrong. The real question is how much of an advantage is it? And I’d say a decent advantage but not so bad that it will make a worse player consistently beat you. I played the PS4 version of the game one day not long ago and it was unplayable. Literally felt like I was lagging. But I also have friends on PS4 that I play Trials with and they aren’t too hindered by it. Also, the higher you go, the less noticeable it is… So the difference between 60 and 120 isn’t nearly as great as the difference between 30 and 60. You should be fine at 60 on next gen unless you really wanna go all out and get a monitor that does 120.

It’s obvious you guys making these posts are clueless on how matchmaking works with old and new gen consoles.

I run 120

Yeah I play pvp @ 120fps and my k/d's stacked like pancakes 🥞

Edited by Scratch: 12/25/2021 6:25:45 PMI used to play at 30fps on the Xbox One. I got a Xbox Series S and now I play at 60fps. I'm not smoking every fool I get into a gunfight with, if that's what you mean. Changing to 60fps didn't improve my K/D, it just looks better. Hope this helps

Bait.

there is a ton of videos out on this it only effects pve not pvp

Obviously it's an advantage but not one that can make a trash player into a god. They have better hardware, that's how it's been forever. Scuf controllers are better than your average market controller and you don't see |many| people complaining about how unfair they are. Same deal with PCs, better hardware can improve your performance somewhat. I would agree that the FOV for sure is a huge advantage that next generation has over last gen, but I believe the two are separated for now unless you group up with someone on a next gen console.

3 RepliesEdited by Sweet Lew 88: 12/24/2021 11:43:16 PMIf two people are the exact same skill level, then probably yes. People aren't exact skill levels, so it's possible for low skilled players to lose at 60 frames, it's not a guaranteed win.... I chose to wait in line for 4 hours to get my series x. I wanted the 60 frames.

2 RepliesSo Nerf FPS now?

1 ReplyIs cross gen a thing? I thought they restricted it to where next gen only plays next gen.

8 RepliesYou can either stay in 2014 or get with the times 🤷♂️

Agreed. Unfortunately, it would be kinda dumb if not suicidal for game developers to avoid developing a game to perform on the newer, better performing consoles because the older models cannot keep up, so… might be time to cut the older models? Or keep them going for a while. With a bit of a performance difference. Doesn’t really matter to me, I’m on pc either way

144+ fps best

1 ReplySeeing as your aim assist is tied directly to your frame rate in this game (for some reason), yes frame rate is a huge advantage, not to mention just the visual benefits.
-
6 RepliesAnd next Gen gets 120 fps in pvp not just 60.
-
Having played both PS4 and PC Destiny, aiming on PC with the raised FPS and FoV is just outright easier, by a pretty noticeable margin.
-
Depends more on the stats.
-
Every gun feels a bit easier to use on the PS5 than it on the PS4, combination of the FOV and higher framerate providing slightly more aim assist i guess, so there is a slight advantage but in my opinion the player skill and how well your shots are registering in this P2P-shitshow matter more than the console generation does. Latest population numbers from the Charlemagne bot are 301K, that is not a lot when you consider it is all platforms and every player anywhere in the world that played any pvp mode yesterday. Even if you do get a slight advantage with a new console there just isn’t enough players to separate the console generations without it affecting queue times and connection quality (which are already terrible, especially the lag between Xbox and PS).

I think no, as another comment pointed out if two players were the excact same skill level etc then... i guess? but when are two users ever that equal in their gameplay. I say no frames dont make a difference its just how you play.
-
Between two equally skilled players, I believe 60fps will give the player an edge over the 30fps player. However, the frame rate difference will not provide a large advantage nor will it help a less skilled player win out against a better player. I believe FPS only provides an advantage in very niche circumstances, but it's definitely not a be all end all especially when things like the motion tracker exists. A lack of map knowledge, game knowledge, reaction time, accuracy, etc are far more important than FPS in destiny. I say this as someone who went from playing at 30fps, to 60fps, and now at 144fps and only saw marginal improvements in my ability to win gunfights. I have gotten better since my 30fps days, but not because my frame rate has changed, but because I've learned more. Of course in more reaction based games like R6S or CSGO, higher frame rates can provide a bigger advantage in finding your target and seeing them first, but again it won't save a player with high reaction time or zero map knowledge and positioning.

18 RepliesIs it an advantage? Yes. Unfair advantage? Nope. Go buy a current gen. Not to be a -blam!-. Just fax

Probably FOV

6 RepliesIt is 100 percent your fault if you play against Next gen consoles. You can only get matched against pc or next gen consoles if you have them on your fireteam.
