If I could describe my time here in OT: “I joined too late.”

The flow of time is convoluted as far as my perception of it is concerned so I can't remember specifically when events happened and people showed up. After Reach and before D1 there was a site switch that killed the Flood and gave birth to Offtopic. In the before times the thing people nowadays base their entire  personalities upon wasn't against the Code of Conduct so this place was Discount 4chan. The Mines above were envious of our Salt. D00b was the first president but it was only kinda an rp thing, like there was a flag and an anthem but he was just a shitposter during the kek and pepe era. Krishna and his Disciple spread the word of Flat Earth theory, Vandelay and his six gorillian alts denied a certain ww2 event, Mad Dog couldnt reply to people or use 1st person pronouns or they'd find him, and I did a bit of trolling and ECCHO gave me an Arby's giftcard. Mad Max, Princess Anomaly, and Cellar Door were there too. Otter happened. I remember Asterisk was a thing by Deatheater. Zbruh, Girrabeelope, Hammer, Cell, Sai, and I wanna say Ringleader and Liam were there. Sign up stories were popular at the time and were kinda a precursor to today's RP scene. An older user called Tiger did a silly murder mystery and Girrabeelope did a more serious one. Also Lee's garlic bread quest that was supposed to end with me dead beneath a pile of it because vampire. I think Lee the artist/sheriff and Toaster the first big bad kicked off the RP scene as it is. Xronad was the Prophet of Bernthal spreading wholesomeness and Molasses Cookies, Speaker was a crazy naked hobo, I lived in a dumpster and vomited spiders at people. I think those things were before the Purge when bungie snapped most of the sub by making reaching a certain point in d2 mandatory before posting. There was a merger with Gaming and Offtopic became the Salt Mines dumpster. A Banbot came about striking people down instantly for saying really random anime words. The Code of Conduct was updated and a bunch of trolls and fedora tipping neckbeards were very upset they had nothing to talk about anymore. Game Slayer suggested an Offtopic Minecraft Server and dmg said Do it you won't, and then Slayer did it and also sent him a can of Pringles signed with names from Offtopic. And also I think a Pringles Gun? We had a few other presidents. Cell, Ringleader, Warlock Holmes, Aifos, Girrabeelope, and now Acro. Cell made User Appreciation Day, it died. Ringleader made Nathan Fillian Day, it died. Someone made Chimney Day, it died. Roleplay wise: Speaker of the Deep, Virus, Toaster, and Nil did a evil teamup as the Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Zbruh started doing eldritch horror stuffs. Robo Owl did some Eclipse things. Acro unleashed cat girl clones. Later on came Blazes Bar, Hidden RP Class, and Aifos Underwater City. There were several iterations of the Arena, the Outer Animal Fighting League, and a new Dojo that was only vaguely associated with the old one. Burly Bear guy happened then Peaches retired to the countryside with ECCHO. There was an UwU virus, or 0w0 or OwO whatever. It started as a silly dating app and turned into an apocalyptic event where a bunch of 40k fans with flamethrowers burned the city down or something. Bungie deleted all the old Halo stuff so a bunch of old timers lost their Halo Emblems and Spartans. Then the name change thing happened. We were promised custom profile pictures but twas lies. There were a bunch of debates over how to balance roleplay and deal with God Modders, which kinda killed the RP thing alongside general burnout and waves of Newbies with fleets of -blam!- starships like why seriously. And then there's this era of stagnation across the forums at large because Bungie is bad at video games and can't attract new players outside of the sheltered homeschooler niche. A few waves of children have shown up who are entirely too desperate to fit in and only annoy people with their attempts. And a few people from Lore think we're at war with them. That's all I got off the top of my head. I'm sure Hoth or someone will fill in the many gaps. Oh there was also a Cookie War and that Cake vs Pie thing. Dmbfan is still stuck on the roof.

To add too Unseelies summary, before the role play scene, we had the salt mine wars in which we used to spam and invade the upstairs forums causing havoc. Realistically it was us just making stupid posts countering the relevant hot takes of the time. Then after that was a time of stories where many users attempted to craft a tale of note. They told the highlights very well. Alongside that was the great cookie wars and the starwars wars. Those where the last few major things before the RP. In there was an occasional trial or two… There are more details, but eh. I’ll remember them later

I remember a bungie.net lore fandom page. I actually found it again the other day again but it hasn’t been updated since 2014, it has a list of ninjas and major shitposts, troublesome users. Along with bungie stuff like Ling Ling and The Screw. It was pretty funny to dig through. I’ll see if I can find it again.

I saw a post Hoth made a couple weeks ago. It had a link to a website that documented the history of the flood. I can’t find it though.

Not an old-time Offtopic person myself, but I do have a copy of the Floodian rules which Marty McFly posted back in 2014, it seemed important so I copied it for notes... Edit: Do any 'Floodians' folks want me to post it!
