I'm not earning A Gift In Return

When I'm delivering cookies I'm only getting a rare piece of equipment and event coins, the gifts aren't going into my inventory. Could someone explain to me why this is?

The blue gift boxes are random drops from delivering cookies. They are not guaranteed to drop.
