I'm having trouble aligning objects perfectly, for example, putting multiple wall pieces right next to each other to make a seamless long wall. I always seem to get to a point where even the tiniest nudge (with the controller or the nudge menu) moves the object an inch too high, so there's an ugly little bump in the surface.
Is there any easy way to line objects up or do I have to use the grid?

Nonetheless, it is my current method of lining up objects until I figure out a way to lower the damn sensitivity/movement speed. At the current speed it is nearly impossible to place objects with accuracy. Of course, if they had a snap to grid option instead of the stupid tedious nudges, that would probably fix a lot of issues with them. But hey, its better than Halo 3's Forge. (Not that H3's Forge was hard to beat by any means.)
dude they do have a snap to grid....
Snap to grid via nudging... I was talking about having objects automatically snap while PLACING them, instead of having to correct nudges everytime. I suppose by slowing down movement its possible to move the object in place, then quickly press B-A-B to snap the object to the closest coordinates. Still tedious but I'll have to try it out.
idk, i find it easier to just use coordinates for all object alignment

Snap-to at 15 degrees. That's the most versatile setting. Then, hold down the left thumb stick to perfectly fine tune. The actual fine tune settings have their uses, but they're not really good for perfectly lining up that wall. Left thumb stick is your best friend.
Posted by: the pib Yeah I do that. I'm not talking about getting the angles right, I'm talking about putting the end of one object against the beginning of another, like when I'm building a path made up of bridges, and it should be smooth.
read my reply above.. Doesn't make the tedious nudging system any better though, but I guess it'll have to do. [Edited on 10.26.2010 8:04 PM PDT]

Hmm there is no way to toggle the fine tuning when you press down the left thumb stick is there? I find that to be a small annoyance.

If you're trying to align 2 objects perfectly and you use the coordinate editor for one of the objects, you have to use it for the other object as well so they're on the same *invisible* grid.
-
hold down the tebag button(left thumbstick) when in monitor
-
Coordinate Editing Hold Object by pressing A, press B, Edit Coordinates You're welcome.
-
IF you use nudges, use nudges for everything, and make sure the settings align on edges and with pitch, yaw, and roll.
-
try using coordinate snaps, its alot easier. Press A then B on the object and edit coordinates. dont use nudges, use fine tuning, click the stick in
