Strange Key / Crypod issue in Forerunner quest preventing progress
Got to Level 4 with Xur playing Dares with a friend and we both purchased the Strange Key and headed to use it and get the "anomaly".
I had no issue parkouring up and interacting with the item to progress the quest.
He, on the other hand, could not interact. He checked his consumables and the strange key was nowhere to be found. He had plenty of consumables slots available when grabbing it; he did not dismantle it; It's not in the postmaster; It's not in the kiosk.
He is now stuck and cannot progress the quest or get the exotic weapon.
Is this a known bug and is there a patch or workaround coming soon to address it? Thanks.

3 Repliesbumping this with the same issue - can't complete forerunner quest as no option to interact with the pod, deleted quest to try to fix it and now can't complete strange key pickup again - please help bungie!

I was able to grab the gun from the crypod but banshee will not give me the next step

I didn't have that problem however the final step where you have to interact with banshee is not working for me. Anyone else?

Had issues on x-box one yesterday. Got to step 5, saw xur then went to empty eternity plane. Went to the rock where you put the key in, and could not interact with it. If I jumped over the rock, “hold x” would become visible for a split second, then disappear again. I tried standing on all sides, on top, crouching on top, nothing. Only when jumping could I see it and they would not last long enough to actually “hold x”. Shut down the x-box and re- started. Same problem. Another guardian came along and did it, no problem. He saw me struggling, punching the rock, and then he fire a gjallarhorn round at the rock, and then it worked no problem!!! Weird. Progressed the rest of the step no problem and got the gun.

Same here. Stuck on step 5. Used strange key but unable to scan anomalous object.

1 ReplyI came here with the same issue. Key is gone, can't get a new one and deleting the quest and reobtaining it didn't help either.

Just jumping in to say, I have a similar issue but on the last step to talk to banshee. He has the exotic engram Icon above his head, but he just goes right to his inventory and doesn't give me the gun. On xbox series x if it matters. Also, I notice that even though my hunters quest is at the talk to banshee step, if i look at the quest kiosk on titan or warlock to pick up abandoned quests, the quest is only on get a strange key for them...

So that's why it wasn't working... I didn't even know the strange key was supposed to show up in your inventory.

I was on last step Step 6 which was turn in “Anomalous Object” to Banshee to receive exotic Forerunner and was not able to! I abandoned quest and picked it up from Kiosk and now I’m on step 3 which is pick up Strange Key from Xur but I already did that so it won’t let me do it again on any character! I still have “Anomalous Object” in my inventory and I’m stuck I can’t progress in the quest. Someone please help!

Edited by Sho: 12/9/2021 1:33:08 AMSame issue, I have claimed the gun already unlike most of u, but the quest glitched and apparently im on step 3, I cant grab the key to fix this and even after getting the exotic sidearm and can't claim the triumph for my title which is depressing. Please fix this bungie

I have the same problem. Quest deleted and returned to step 3/6. I can't get keys from XUR anymore. I have the anomalous object in my inventory and can't do anything with it.

commenting to bump this, i had same issue, his strange key was used on the rock so it should be gone but the quest should update when he gets to pod so he can interact and it doesnt. same thing happened to me and my friend.

Yeah my quest is gone all together and I have the key in my inventory but no way to use because the quest is gone. It's not in abandoned quest from banshee either
