Why am I listed as Guardian with a bunch of numbers?

Yea welcome to the safest place on earth. My name was changed months ago, still can't change it, receive multiple emails a week from bungie calling me my old name they banned. Apparently they can use my name just fine but lord help me if I do. Best case I heard we'll be able to change it December/or January.

When you first log in the system automatically assigns you the name of the platform account you're signing in with. It only defaults to Guardianxxxx if the filtering system found something it thought violated the code of conduct or had illegal characters (characters that can cause accounts to misbehave in game and on the website). Bungie is currently working on a function to allow players to change their Bungie names. It is planned for release this Winter. Until then there is no way for users to change their Bungie names.
