They also need a damage threshold they are forced out of their scope. Shooting first while at a corner, 2 tapping a sniper in the head with Jade Rabbit and getting domed right before a third shot? This shouldn't happen. If he was there first, yes he should certainly win but...
You've basically been punished for engaging an enemy peeking where you had the positional advantage and shot first to win. So I'm supposed to figure: "I 2 tapped him in the head and should've just apologized and ran. Silly me."
What kind of gameplay is this Bungie? Trials is literally just get 1 pick with a Sniper and push orb with Shatterdive and SMG with Chaperone gang not too far behind. Snipers can even step into Sweet Business corner fire and end you.
I really would like to duel someone with a Primary weapon at some point.
Edit: Dread it. Run from it. The nerf bat arrives all the same. Or something like that...

Snipers who can dome you under that much flinch are using the flinch from YOUR shots to get the kill knowing that the reticle will bounce up when you hit them, they deserve the kill because that takes time to master. Snipers have so much flinch now it's harder to win 1v1s if you don't catch them off guard it's why they're so rare these days other than 3v3 modes. Scav mods cost 5 and Unflinching sniper is 5 as well which is higher than every other weapon I don't know what more you wat ebcause it's hard to make buikds without sacrificing tiers it takes alot of patience and skill to not be just a trade these days using a sniper. Snapshot is a must for sniping too because you get punished for laneing and hardscoping due to these factors.
-
1 ReplyHonestly, I'd like it if they'd just delete snapshot sights off snipers entirely. It's too much of a staple for snipers, if that's the right word for it.

Edited by Infamous067: 11/2/2021 10:56:31 PMI get what you are saying but at the same time do you think its fair to pre fire into a sniper and easily kill him on a game where the radar is always on? I would totally agree pre firing into a sniper be a 100% win but only if we didn’t have radar always on. I understand getting one shot is annoying, believe me! Its also not as easy to do as people think. My suggestion? Your best counter is to slide and shoot instead of pre firing. It makes it nearly a 10% chance the sniper will even land a hit on you unless the guys got lucky or has an aimbot.

8 RepliesEdited by Hunter-Max99: 10/31/2021 10:41:49 PMYeah snipers are sooo overpowered that they don’t even appear in the Top 5 of most used energy weapons. So overpowered that they chill at a whopping 7% usage rate while shotguns sit at 20+%. I agree that they need a nerf because someone got a lucky hit on you that only happens like once every 10 games.
The sniper is your least used weapon. I’m pretty sure u don’t know what you‘re talking about.
Edited by Starkweather: 11/1/2021 9:41:59 PMAfter reading this and reading some of the comments on here I had to put my two cents in. Sniper rifles are fine where they are EXCEPT for one issue that still lingers to this day: hitting a sniper often leads to your demise. Why? If they don’t dome you first they’ll wait for you to hit them…so their sights jump up to your head. Aim for the chest. Get shot. Click. If Bungie wanted to fix this they would make flinch push your sights left or right instead of up.

1 ReplyWall of text incoming. PvP trash can/aspiring sniper, here. I’m by no means the best in PvP, though I enjoy it immensely. I’ve spend the majority of my time in D2 confounded by sniper rifles. I see shots that are clear hits miss their target, I see shots that are clear misses register as headshots. I’ve seen flinch reset the reticle right back to head, and I’ve seen it send the reticle to the moon. Snipers are a weapon type that (outside of head glitching and corner camping) require a relatively disciplined play style and a fair bit of skill. I used to get upset when I got outplayed by snipers. Then they nerfed the -blam!- out of the target acquisition and flinch, and mostly disappeared from PvP. Since then, I’ve taken to putting in some practice with snipers. Outside of camping and head glitching, they require a fair bit of skill and discipline to use effectively. There’s so much more to sniping than just lining up a shot and pressing a button. Anticipating enemy movement, knowing when to disengage and retreat, using cover effectively etc are all a part of effectively sniping. Sniping is fun and rewarding, and a good sniper can really make a team in comp/trials. I accept that when I die to a sniper, it’s because either a) I made a mistake, b) lucky shot, or most likely c) my opponent is simply a better shot than I. If you’re ADS and see the crimson glare of deaths glowing eye and choose to dig in and lay shots instead of reposition and re-engage, that’s on you. Ain’t no nerf gonna fix that. The real issues with PvP (imo) lie with lobby balancing, matchmaking, connection issues and the like. The more the community cries nerf this nerf that, the less focus there’s gonna be on fixing the real problems that plague Destiny PvP. You can argue and complain to your hearts content, but there’s always going to be some weapon or ability or play style that you’re weak to. Sometimes, even when playing to your strengths, you still get outplayed. It’s the nature of a game like this. Again. Total trash can here. Take what I say with a grain of salt.

1 ReplyIf Bungie nerfed Snipers any more, they would be unusable to casual PvP players. They are borderline unusable to me already!
-
Speaking as a rather seasoned Trials player, snipers are by no means even remotely fair. It takes all agency out of the other player's hands, because flinch, movement, none of it matters if the sniper just presses shoot at the right time. Obviously that doesn't apply to bad players, maybe they'll hit a wild shot every once and a while, but if it's a player good enough to routinely ignore flinch, it's one of the worst feelings in the game.

5 RepliesEdited by Demon_XXVII: 11/1/2021 4:36:33 AMIt’s because like 90% of Weaponry in this game They’re hitscan & the invisible line of damage and imaginary ballistic shell/round coupled with aim assist & tracks into invisible damage boxes the size of Frank Sidebottom’s head https://images.app.goo.gl/VgEKRNRgqQJvyyUd7 The only weapons that aren’t hitscan are Rocket Launchers, GL’s & the Jotünn, Fighting Lion & Skyburners Oath Bows are hitscan at full draw. They are only ballistic at partial draw. Armour Piercing rounds should be absolute musts for weapons - but due to lag/peer to peer sometimes they don’t flinch at all —— And I’m gonna guess that Trials is still full of Stag wearing Warlocks positioned on corners & Titans with Citans, using shields/grenades to deny routes/lanes & linear/sniper/Crimsons ??

Dude if they nerf snipers any more they'll turn them into scouts.
-
14 RepliesLike it or not, snipers have a high skill ceiling, and those at the top will punish you for engaging.
-
11 RepliesFerus, I'm gonna just give it to you straight. You're kinda dog -blam!- at this game. You absolutely crutch fusion and shotties. I bet you didn't complain last week when the map was cauldron. Trials report has you using main ingredient as your primary on widow's court, yet you state in your post that you want primary battles? Just adapt and learn to use a ranged weapon as your primary instead of that God rolled main ingredient and you may find more success.
-
Just Amp up the flinch a bit. Nerf them another way and they'll be essentially useless. I do not like being drowned in shotguns again.
-
So what you're saying is remove unflinching mods
-
7 RepliesDescope on hit with sniper would fix that.
-
2 RepliesA sniper shouldn't be able to take sustained damage, especially crits, and just stand there still scoped and headshot somebody. Crit damage should knock you out of your scope briefly..
-
The problem is controller aim assist on snipers.
-
1 ReplyPart of the issue is lag. From your perspective, you hit the other guy first and then he sniped you. From the other guy's perspective, he sniped you first (so he experienced no flinch) Also, if you're on PC, mouse and keyboard suffers far less flinch than controller, and it's far easier to readjust after being shot... And quickscoping is entirely unaffected by flinch as far as I can tell.
-
If I get git once by any gun my sniper reticle looks at the moon yet when I'm nailing someone in the face with a pulse scout of hand cannon they just headshot me through it. I don't understand it at all.
-
1 ReplyTrust me, it ain't the snipers that is the issue. It is a combination of Controller aim assist, lag (lul servers), and how they coded their flinch... Hit him once while they aim at the body and they get a headshot because the "flinch" puts it on the head. Hit him twice? First it goes away from the body and go on top of the head... First they need to change how flinch works in this game, because it rewards you for being flinched once or twice. Second: Aim assist on controller for snipers needs a tone down. I do not care what anyone has for an excuse, controller sniping is WAY better than MnK sniping by a mile. So much so it is almost cheating. Third... pffff, as if they are going to invest in actual servers. Not gonna happen.
-
1 ReplyShould make sniper flinch like tether whiplash imo lolol.
-
snipers need snapshot removed
-
6 RepliesThe reason “pre-fire flinch” can’t be fixed is very simple When they walk around the corner they’ll always see you first due to peekers advantage Remember it is pear to pear connection. Sniper don’t take “skill” when you have 2 Targeting Mods, adept targeting on the gun and high aim assist/bullet magnetism

1 ReplyEdited by 4ntheli0n: 11/1/2021 12:18:29 AMIn my experience, two scenarios exist regardless of which side of the sniper you're on: either you land a shot through flinch (head or body) or you miss and I have been on both sides (haven't sniped in pvp in a long time though). I have engaged a sniper at long range with a pulse, scout, auto, etc and won, but I've also lost to a single headshot under the same conditions, sometimes against the same guy. I have been the sniper and killed someone through flinch and likewise have been killed trying to kill someone through flinch. Now as I said, I haven't used a sniper in pvp in a long time but I have seen how bad the flinch has gotten online despite things like no distractions and unflinching mods and I couldn't imagine how that feels in person and map design doesn't help either with so many of them catering to shorter range specials. To be perfectly honest, if I engaged a sniper with a pulse with high cal and I got the first shot off with all crits and he manages to compensate for the flinch with their thumb or hand (whatever they use) and one shot me, *clap* *clap*, I'll applaud them, not only for hitting that, but also for (in this time of rampart shotguns and a particular fusion that will remain nameless) using something different that actually requires a "bit" more effort than most other specials. So, I recommend not trying to start a witch hunt because you lost a coin toss, because that's what it basically boils down to; you called tails and it landed on heads. (Little bit of fun word play for those of you that agree with me)

Just make it flinch downward, weird I know, but at least they can't get a magical headshot.
