We already have to pay for the new expansion to do things we USED to have access to (trials, iron banner, etc.) you NEED to buy the new seasons (the rewards on the pass are honestly trash too by the way) to play up to date story missions, and now we have to buy dungeons SEPARATELY???
You are literally scamming the player base. You have developed a habit of pushing out subpar expansions that get stale pretty damn fast and then filling it up with stuff that should have been in it from the beginning with season passes, and then TAKING IT AWAY LATER WITH THE CONTENT VAULT. And yes I understand that the content vault is needed but that doesn’t mean you have to take ALL the dungeons and ALL the raids with it. We pay for stuff to do and then a year or so later you take it away and go “but here’s something new you can fork out more cash to play!”
And just to add insult to injury we still have the complete garbage that is the eververse store. Which is honestly the only place you cans get good looking gear and the “free” way to get it (bright dust and engrams) is either stupidly inefficient or so damn unlikely to drop it’s not even funny and when it does it’s something from 10 seasons ago you don’t even care about anymore. If you’re going to rip us off for content then we deserve to either a) have silver be earnable in game and be part of the season pass rewards or b) GET RID OF EVERVERSE AND MAKE IT ALL EARNABLE IN GAME. (Yes I know earnable isn’t a real word stuf)
Let’s have a look at what playing destiny will be like post witch queen shall we?
1. Buy expansion to get access to new stuff (but not even everything that will be available when it drops)
2. Buy the season pass several times throughout the year to access more stuff (including THE STUFF DROPPING WITH WITCH QUEEN)
3. BUY DUNGEONS SEPARATELY TO FINALLY HAVE EVERYTHING THAT WOULD COME WITH THE EXPANSION IN ANY OTHER DAMN GAME
4. NOW THERES THE 30th ANNIVERSARY THATS $30 FOR ONE DUNGEON AND ONE EXOTIC, ITS NOT EVEN A SEASONS WORTH OF CONTENT FOR 3x THE PRICE
5. AND IF YOU WANT ANY GEAR THAT DOESNT LOOK HORRIBLE YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IT ON THE STUPID EVERVERSE STORE (if I could I would have blown Tess’ head off bad in D1)
So, if you want access to everything that will be available when witch queen drops you have to pay for 4 seperate things, totalling $150 IF you get the bundle, if you can’t afford the whole thing straight away that’s fine, you can buy it separately for an additional $15 plus however much the dungeons end up costing, (which could put it up to an additional $30-$40 IF we’re lucky)
Even EA isn’t this vile. And they literally invented loot boxes. The player base has HATED eververse since it first came around, but we dealt with it because we got ok expansions at decent prices and we didn’t HAVE to buy them to access most the content. Then along came seasons with Forsaken and you know, wasn’t great but the expansion was pretty good. But now this? What? Are we expected to fork out $120 for access to a single years worth of content EVERY YEAR?? Double the triple A game price for an indie games worth of content? This is ridiculous, and this IS a scam. I’m not getting a WHOLE games worth of content but I’m paying twice as much as one. You keep selling us the same excuse “oh the pandemic made it difficult” yeah it did. A year ago that was fair. A year ago we were ok with it because we knew the pandemic was a mess for everyone. But you’ve had a year to adapt. You’ve had a year to make the necessary changes to get things back on track.
Honestly cannot even begin to express how insanely furious this makes me. What’s worse is that so much of the player base is so spineless they won’t stand up to it and you’ll get away with it, and then you’ll monetise more and more until we have to buy strikes and crucible separately every year as well.
So here’s your chance guardians you can either stand up for yourselves and or do what you do best and roll over and let them rob you blind. Your choice.
To everyone questioning my pricing: oh wow look it’s accurate
And to everyone else who is trying to say I used the words scanned and literally wrong. Nice you’re a grammar (insert name of German political party in WW2 because bungie doesn’t like the n word). And you might want to google the definitions for those words yourself. I’ve used the informal definition of literally and the main definition for scam.
Addendum:
To anyone saying “it’s not a scam because you know what you’re getting” no. We don’t. We have no idea what we’re getting. We’re being sold glorified loot boxes.
We don’t know how much content is in the expansion. We don’t know if the dungeons will have brand new loot or will just recycle old world loot like they do now. We don’t know if any of the content will be good. We don’t know if they’re going to recycle story missions into strikes. We don’t know what will come with each season. We don’t know if the seasonal activity is just a reskin of an old seasonal activity in a new destination. We don’t know ANYTHING about it. We don’t even know how much dungeons will be selling for later.
They want us to buy the expansion SIGHT UNSEEN they haven’t even given us a real gameplay trailer. The most we got was someone crushing a hive ghost and it sure as hell wasn’t actual gameplay. They are relying on people buying the pack and then going “oh well I already bought it, might as well play” even if the content is horrible.

Edited by Zambajazz: 11/27/2021 1:09:28 PMonly reason why i even logged in to this forum is to say that i wholeheartedly support that message. the whole 30th anniversary pack is the reason why i havent touched destiny 2 and why ill probably wont come back. this anniversary pack in other games is a whole free ingame event to thank the players, not to get even more money out of them. you would not have survived 30 years without your players bungie. so respect them or i can guarantee that we wont see a lot more anniversaries.

1 ReplyI dig the passion. I agree with you about a lot of things. I bought the Witch Queen and Dungeon/30th and that is the last expansion I will purchase. I have played since D1 beta and haven't taken time off, I play more now than ever. But I do agree with you. Well said.

5 RepliesDisagree.

1 ReplyDont worry yall theyll just vault it eventually so just throw money at the screen now for a low down payment of a 100
-
2 RepliesI just heard what they are trying to do. I literally busted out laughing at the thought of that pricing model. Bungie is an absolute scumbag company and they have no shame about it. I honestly surprised that people still pay for their "content." How many times do this company have to completely disrespect you for you to stop giving them patronage?
-
Agreed.
-
Don’t forget all this content has expiration date. One day they will “vault” it

1 ReplyActivision doesn't financially support this game anymore. That's why Bungie is asking for more money. I don't mind that, but the way they're going about it is scummy. I won't deny that I enjoyed the game more during Forsaken. I'm sure a lot of people did. But the Destiny we have now is the Destiny we'll always continue to have from this point on. Whether you choose to support it or not is up to you.
-
1 ReplyRemember when all of the Destiny tools complained non-stop that Activision was ruining the game? Remember when the Destiny tools said that Bungie splitting from Activision would result in Bungie finally realizing their true vision for the game? Well, the tools were right about the second one. The problem is that Bungie's vision for the game is even worse than Activision's.

Honestly for the people who bought the base game, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken we should at least get some silver for buying all these things when it came out.
-
20 Repliesremember when bungie said eververse would fund free content.
-
8 RepliesMy guess is they literally cut content from the Feb expansion to have something to sell for the Christmas period. They've been poking around trying to figure out to make more money from less work. I'm fine with them selling actual content, but what really seems shady was how light the last expansion was. This cosmetic heavy, light seasonal content model is making the game pretty boring.

6 RepliesBungie is weaponizing endgame content and FOMO. If you don’t buy the super duper awesome collectors edition sight unseen you will be punished!! Preorder our 80 dollar collectors edition or pay more for endgame content that used to (and should) come standard with the 40 dollar edition. That is some EA and activision anti consumer bullsh*t. They are removing our ability to fully judge the expansion (Witch Queen) and the season pass content before buying it. If you choose to wait you will be charged more for the same content.

9 RepliesIt’s honestly disgusting seeing people still defending this type of business practice. Bungie right now doesn’t need anymore money. They make damn well plenty of it just from eververse, and overpriced season pass sales from those who don’t buy the deluxe editions. I understand any business needs to make money, but charging for every single individual piece is EA levels of criminal greed. You reading this if you still defend bungies practices and payment policies understand you will start buying individual guns/exotics for 5 bucks a pop if the line isn’t drawn now. Think about that before you reply anything that’s remotely defending them.

8 RepliesEdited by Demon_XXVII: 10/28/2021 5:50:41 PMI’m just gonna leave this here because I don’t think it’s been mentioned yet Transmog & Synthweave Templates Bungie mentioned at the beginning of Transmog that Y1 ornaments would be available soon https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/50272
There will also be a few exceptions at launch for Year-1 Armor Ornaments due to technical constraints, but we are currently working on solutions for a future Season. These exceptions include: Year-1 Armor Ornaments Vanguard Crucible Iron Banner Faction Rallies Prestige Raids Trials of the Nine
And now it seems this week they’ve put these behind yet another silver paywall Synthweave Templates from Eververse So after the debacle that was the 3 steps to acquire materials in a daft grind, before transmogging 1 single item & coming to some sense (removal of 2 steps) And after recent events & backlash against splitting DLC content, Dungeons from seasons. Pushing the playerbase to commit to the Witch Queen Deluxe without knowing anything about the quality & worthiness of the content You come out with this? The playerbase that earned those Y1 armour ornaments legitimately & supported this game when it was on its arśe just for you to throw it in our face… This is yet ANOTHER abysmal decision & money grabbing opportunity @Bungie (Community Managers step up and answer the questions instead of hiding) How feckin’ low are you planning to go? Is this how it is now? Everything in the game to be turned into a macro transaction & monetised? Shall we expect to be paying to log in in the near future ? Because to use Synthweave Template (1000 silver for 5) is actually paying to turn our own earned (and previously bought through paid DLC) armour into similar priced (Eververse) wares, for things we have already acquired/unlocked This nonsense is scrapping the schyte off the bottom of the barrel & putting it in a sandwich, handing it over & saying “be grateful” It’s purely money grabbing bolloxs! Edit: I started a thread https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/259957999/0/0 (seemed to be buried quickly & have the shills/BDF jump on board) Feel free to post up your concerns & disappointment at Bungie for paywalling Y1 transmogrification (only just after the deluxe/seasons/dungeons/separation of dlc palaver) It’s supposedly a glitch, they (Bungie) said this on Oct1 2th via Twitter - not everyone follows/uses toxic social media sites like Twitter 3 patches (inc today’s patch 3.3.1.2) & still no fix Yet you can still buy the Synthweave Templates from Eververse (the only way to transmog Y1 ornaments)

23 RepliesYou said it well. Bungle is the greediest company. They care more about money than making quality content. The cost does not match how lazy they are as a company. They can't even make enough guns in each pool to refresh content each season so there is nothing to grind for.
-
5 RepliesIf more of us actually stop playing and paying perhaps Bungie will finally figure it out. I agree with you! They are more focussed on money grab than actually create REAL content. The leaders at Bungie have failed every player and its clear just how incompetent and greedy they are.
-
2 RepliesBungie makes me sad.

Ever notice how 'new' skins look like they belonged in another season but were displaced by half a year?
-
7 RepliesWhy do you care there a business trying to make more good content, making content isn't cheap

1 ReplyPersonally, I'm really looking forward to Halo, Big Team Battle was freaking fun during their in flight test. I was amazed at how a game months away from release could play so well (no lag) after persevering for years in this sh*t PvP experience called Crucible. The other thing that amazed me was how good the matchmaking was, almost every game I played was close and competitive. You almost have to wonder how? Bungie can't get their sh*t together after years of f*cking around with CBMM, SBMM, CBMM again, and finally with whatever they're doing now that I just call FUMM. Seriously folks, they won't learn a thing if you keep paying and playing. Happy gaming!

5 RepliesEdited by Revirian: 10/28/2021 12:16:00 AMI agree tbh i was confused why this next year cost 4x as much as expansions used to, taken king was £20 for a years worth of brilliant content, this is £80 for a years worth of subpar and reskinned content. I’ve played since year 1’s beta and the game has cost nearly £400 I think I’ve given bungie enough but this is the only game I play so I’m not ping to stop here. I’ve played since I was 8 and I’m now 16 and still like the game but I wish I could go back to the glory days of the game. When me a friend and a couple blue berries all shot off a cliff together attacking a ??? Levelled mob thinking we were killing it, searching for help to make it so we could beat level 7 devils layer, messaging some random guy in the reef asking if he would take me through a raid, him taking me through crota and having black hammer drop for me not knowing what it was, him taking me through vog and getting the shader, vex and the sparrow all items my best friend wanted but had to leave before he could beat Atheon. All these memories are why I keep returning here for the hope things get better, hoping bungie sees the light

25 RepliesEdited by wilco490: 10/26/2021 3:36:00 PMI have the money, i am retired so plenty of time, kids out of the house and unfortunately, the last one living. But i'm not gonna pre-order anything. Its not about the money. Im gonna wait a couple of days until after the release with that 80 cents toaster fiasco in mind. To hear from friends and read some constructive reviews if its worth it, and what the exact loot is for those new dungeons. I'd rather pay more to play it after all, if it turns out to be worth it.
