Its not about the event. Its about getting you to spend more money. And the only way you will do that is to keep you in the game. Same with the way you have to grind to Level 16 in Crucible, Strikes and Gambit TWICE to get the ornaments. Even a lot of the Seasonal Weekly tasks are nothing more than forcing you into Crucible and Gambit for some XP and Bright Dust. These "events" are nothing more than a way to get you to the Eververse store .. Look at all the shiny new stuff we have. The base game is there to get you to the events and the seasons. Look at the way every expansion is there to get you invested and after its finished, and the raid has activated something that doesn't really matter, they are left to fester. Because the seasons are here and what gets a refresh every three months ?? .. Eververse. What has happened story wise on the Moon or Europa since the end of Shadowkeep or Beyond Light ?? .. Eris has gone, two years since that happened nearly. Not a peep. And Eramis is still frozen and sits there like a pointless popsicle. The Pyramids have sat there doing nothing. The much feted Darkness destroyed half the locations in the game and are now sat parked doing .. well, nothing. We are apparently friends with the fallen but still continue to roam the EDZ, Europa and anywhere else they are murdering them for bounties .. but hey, buy a baby Fallen plsuhie on the Store. And how many items have been put into Eververse ?? Strikes have been ignored. Gambit certainly has. And the PVP has been forgotten about. All that "renewed focus on PVP" was because they wanted you to buy something. The 30th Anniversary "Celebration" is nothing more than selling us what many have already paid for, in Gally's case perhaps for the THIRD time. These events are all cut from the same cloth. A grindy experience. Bullet sponge bosses in an enclosed space with pushback or stomp mechanics. RNG loot. Its their blueprint for everything. Every season pass event is a variation on a horde mode. RNG loot. And god forbid you find a way to get through the content quicker. That gets squashed real quick. My kid plays this game a lot. He's new to it. But even he is getting tired of doing a 15 minute strike for two pointless blues. Tired of waiting for a single item to drop to hit 1330 while you get duplicates all day from your so called Pinnacles. Just getting tired to be honest. I ran a couple of these Haunted Sectors, got the Nessus one three times in a row. And a river of Horror Stories. Haven't been back. I think its time to move on. I have been playing games like Cuphead recently, that cost me £16, not enough for two sets of the Eververse armour in Destiny World. Hours of fun and I still haven't beaten all the bosses. And you can tell the people who made it cared about what their customer was paying for. Look at the state of the games core activities. And then the sheer amount of tat Bungie put in Eveverse, shows you where their focus is. And it isn't going to change. The only thing to do is get on the Witch Queen hype train, which showed us very little in the presentation but really did try to sell us stuff like the Collectors Edition, or move on. I don't really like Bungie very much anymore. Or their game. Option B for me.

  • I agree with nearly everything you say. The only problem is, when I leave, I can never find any game that plays as well as D2. I love mainly open world fps games but there is nothing close to D2, all other options feel clunky and deliberately hard to shoot. I've left D2 twice now but always come back. nothing plays as well as it does and having the game updated every week (regardless of how small that can be), keep me coming back. There is a hell of a lot wrong with this game for sure. There is also a hell of a lot this game not only does right but is the only game doing it.

  • I just never look in the store to see what is in there so Idek what they are selling most of the time but literally every cool mask costs money for this event I saw. It takes a little n feeling left out sucks but you don’t really need the skins n sht

  • Love Cuphead. Absolutely infuriating sometimes; but when it clicks it is awesome.

  • Agreed with everything except being forced into crucible and gambit for seasonal challenges. They are optional.

Very nicely put dude. I've known this a long time but didn't want to believe that of bungie. But when nothing changed after Activision abandoned ship I accepted what you explained, back just after shadowkeep. Took over a years break. Felt good. I just came back to play beyond light and I now only buy DLC, no season passes, never bought Silver! To be fair the game runs remarkably better now, but at the cost of half of what we payed for. Planets have gone but pvp and gambit maps from said planets are still in the game. Yet many other better maps and strikes were removed even though the location is still there. It doesn't make sense. Very messy execution BungIe. The haunted sector's are much more enjoyable than past events, I think taking a long break has helped me to relax and enjoy the game again. The play time manipulation you describe is still woven throughout the game though, a little keepsake of Activision's 50/50 win loss ratio algorithm, you can feel it working with or against you in pvp and gambit. One minute you can't miss a precision bullet and you take normal damage, the next you die before you can even flinch and damage either doesn't register or feels suppressed. In pvp I actually think there's an aim assist bias that flips back and fore to "balance" things. Good players won't really notice as much but will make more errors, where as average players will feel like they got stomped and so have to try harder to achieve whatever they're doing. Mtashed actually spoke about it once too about how you can feel it pulling you back in game. Anyway my reply is gonna be as long as yours, but yeah I feel you. Take a break it helps ALOT.

  • I couldn't have said it better myself. At first when they announced the 30th anniversary "celebration" I figured it was all going to be free, as a way to say thank you to the community for supporting Bungie for 30 years. Turns out it's less of a celebration and more of a CEO's holiday bonus. I honestly cannot believe it costs $100 to get all the upcoming content with no guarantee you'll get to keep it. That's more than a brand new game, even a $70 "next-gen" game is cheaper. ON TOP OF THAT, there's a microtransaction store that is filled to the brim with useless junk that just builds and builds every season. They should be removing that instead of actual playable content, but no way that'll happen, if people didn't buy silver the devs would starve!

The sad part is there are many on this game and forums who actually believe Bungie needs more funding, or is somehow justified in charging for all these cosmetics, as if those purchases have led to in-game content (other than more eververse items). I'm still waiting to see where all this content is that's being funded by silver purchases, other lining someone's pocket.

  •
I honestly cannot believe it costs $100 to get all the upcoming content with no guarantee you'll get to keep it.
That's the reason I haven't pre-ordered this time around. It'll be vaulted. Why would I pay for something to have it taken away later, to be resold to me again later? Erm, no.

  • Why pay money to go to the cinema when you can watch the movie on the telly three years later?

  • Plus if you wait to see what it's like first you'll get it cheaper than the preorder 😆 why do people fall for that every time 😆
