Genuine question. I feel like cluster bombs are talked about as though they're an extremely good perk (a la OG Riven cheese), but are they still worth using?
I feel like I never notice their impact, besides the nice vfx. Is a good cluster bomb rocket worth hanging on to?

5 RepliesClusters are on average a 8% damage increase. Not really that good compared to other perks. Vorpal 15% Lasting impressions 19% Explosive light 25% Its also important to have impact casing. The impact goes from 2-3k to 9k damage.

Just use this season ritual RL that thing is underrated AF because of how busted fusion are this season
-
Back in Y1 yes, but now they are a lot of flash. Their damage boost depends on rng but typically averages around a 6% buff. Vorpal is 15% vs majors, bosses, and vehicles

I love that basically what made yellerhorn a coveted weapon is now a trash mod. Granted jelly's clusters tracked.

I seems like a middle ground between ad-clear and single target damage. If you're looking for a workhorse rocket that can perform decently in both, it doesn't hurt to have clusters. If you're looking into speccing specifically for boss damage or crowd control, then you'd probably pick Chain Reaction or Vorpal over it.

They're okay-ish? Clown Cartridge, Vorpal, Overflow, and Explosive Light will serve you better for boss damage and Chain Reaction will serve you better for add clear. Cluster Bomb is a perk that does both moderately well. For an all-purpose rocket they're pretty decent but there are better options for more specific roles.
-
depends on the purpose. i find they are awesome for ad clearing but don't have the same punch on bosses obviously. i also find that chain reaction seems to be a bit better IMO.
-
A good option if you aren’t sure what you would want instead. Mostly useful for killing little things around a big one. But if the target is large enough they will take extra damage.
-
They are good for legend and master lost sector runs IMO

Cluster rockets are an odd beast: their effectiveness in each situation depends on the blast radius. Wide blast radius + cluster bombs= even wider blast radius but little to no improvement in single target damage (good for PvP and add clear). Small blast radius + cluster bombs on the other hand CAN be good for single target DPS, but not great for pvp or ad clear.

best use in pvp
-
Yes. Especially for going after high-priority targets that are likely to be surrounded by mobs….like mini-bosses and champions.
-
Its better than useless perks like quickdraw and unrelenting. Its the weakest of all the damage boosting perks.

This is a Marmite question. You either love it hate it. Me I LOVE it and do love cluster bomb RL's I need to use them more often.

3 RepliesPretty potent for me matey! I don't know the damage numbers, but when the PvE buff came in and my Sunset Zenobia got replaced, it's been pretty satisfying! I regularly use the Subzero Salvo - Surplus + Cluster Bomb + Impact Masterwork with a Targeting Adjuster as it has auto tracking missiles as well. It ad clears well IMO. Give it bash !
