Please don't instant flag or ban me. It diretly pertains to in-game lore and I have no other means to directly contact Bungie/the community; this is an important topic that needs to be addressed. Article link will be at the end.
China recently passed a law that bans games that have and/or promote same--blam!- relationships. As such it looks like D2 will be banned over there and we may lose many in our community here while I might never get to crossplay with an old friend over there. With this in mind, I'm asking the Bungie team to please adress this in the next TWAB as I cannot foresee this dilemma resolved without drastic measures being taken.

2 RepliesEdited by neonsox42: 10/6/2021 5:12:02 PMBungie’s woke yet took investment from the CCP. The real reason is that the upper management at Bungie is not, just their writers. Bungie hires writers to make it seem more inclusive, and creates organizations in them to keep the outrage mob at bay. Meanwhile, while the execs probably do (to some extent) agree with the political and cultural leanings of its employees, the money is more meaningful. In the end Bungie will scrub out any mention of same-blam!- couples in the Chinese release because the money they’ll make there is more than their espoused beliefs.

Why Bungie have to say this “dude gay this guy straight”. Bungie, dude, you make games. I don’t care about your political leanings. Just… make… THE GAME. Just make the game fun, i don’t give a flying Frick who these guardians like to F. ITS A GAME.

Edited by Darth Lunchbox: 10/9/2021 6:40:28 PMBungie will bend the knee, like so many other companies if this comes about, to much revenue loss otherwise. It's all about the money, the causes don't mean jack when revenue is affected.

3 RepliesI hope the woke among us don’t freak out but speaking candidly this is what bungie deserves. Like many I’m not a fan or people or companies that are full of s. In this case retroactively changing existing characters to appease certain groups who now wield power or the political climate makes me feel like the company lacks integrity. Additionally rainbow capitalism feels like selling out. Seeing bungie potentially loose an entire section of their market because they sold out doesn’t bum me out. Before people call me a bigot I would feel the same if they lost a chunk of players due to selling out on game pass. For years now we have watched bungie pursue short term gain with no respect to current players or the long term. Not saying China is correct but what do you expect. Hope your post doesn’t get band as fast as my comment calling bungie sell outs will.

3 RepliesBungie for the love of god don’t pander to China!
-
2 RepliesIt’s pretty easy. All they got to do is remove an emblem and that’s it. There’s yet to be lore that directly states any character is gay or lesbian or anything similar

13 RepliesEdited by Meow Fairy: 10/6/2021 2:54:14 AMWell for the st 14/osiris relationship they basically modified it during d2...so they can modify the nature of their relation again XD. (Seriously in the lore they arent lovers but brothers in arms, you just had one of the lgbt scenarist at bungie who decided to post on twitter that st 14 and osiris were a couple)

5 RepliesThis doesn’t bother me. I play this game to murder aliens and other players’ guardians, not for Bungie’s politics/ propaganda. And if you are referring to Saint 14 and Osiris, I have always viewed them as best friends. It’s like what I share with my best friend. You’d do crazy things for them because between them and the world, screw the world. You blind yourself to their faults because the faults never mattered. You’d take their side even when it’s the losing side because they are worth it, every time. And if for some reason you don’t, you still have their back when it’s over. This trust, love and respect has nothing to to do with romance. It’s just about being a best friend and a brother.

And what exactly is bungie supposed to do? They don't own china lmao

2 RepliesYou need some 'tegridy China!

4 RepliesWouldn't they have just have up update their Chinese translation of the game to excluded all same -blam!- relationships and references to them? I'd rather let the writers have their freedom but it doesn't seem worth it to loose that big of a piece of the community.
-
For saint and Osiris Just say it was actually savathun and the real Osiris straight up denies saint
-
And i give a -blam!-, why????? Who -blam!- who shouldn't be in the game. Because heres a shocker........IT DOESNT MATTER AND SHOULDN'T BE MENTIONED. PERIOD

I’m not a social justice warrior, but more of a libertarian. I could give two shits whether you like men or women. This, however, is stupid and extreme. 🤷🏻♂️ Leave these people alone. But I see Chinas agenda: cant beat the US from a military perspective, so let’s have the US socially implode while they (China) strengthen their men. Smart.

China owns Bungie, China likes money, Bungie is a cash cow

4 RepliesImagine taking away LGBT+ rep randomly. Then if that happens I don't want heterosexual relationships in game as well. To make it equal. Right?

15 RepliesEdited by KingJules: 10/7/2021 12:33:18 AMBungie is greedy. They’ll retcon every explicitly gay character as straight, hurting actual gay people who play this game and were happy to have a literal space wizard super hero badass that was like them. I’m just imagining a 13 year old dealing with their s e x u a l i t y and saying “Oh wow, Saint 14 is just like me” then bungie going, “ Ahhh, nope. We want money.”
