When using Fullscreen video mode in D2 on PC I'm unable to regularly alt-tab from the game. After alt-tab the game is still running but clicking on the icon does not bring D2 back up.
Current work around for me is to use Windowed Fullscreen. Does not appear to be a Windows 11 error with Fullscreen games as I have not seen it with other games.
Otherwise the game runs fine in Windows 11 for those of you who are considering it.

Edited by Gloarb!: 3/31/2022 11:57:58 PMI have the same issue, the game is still running in "background" but I can't go back to it. It's not happening every time. I don't know what is the trigger to this bug. The only solution is to quit the game, and relaunch it >.> Windows 11 Pro 22000.556 NVidia GTX 1070 Ti (v511.79)

I found a fix. It's annoying, but it works. It came from here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/report-an-issue/windows-11-alt-tab-is-broken-on-fullscreen-windows/m-p/2854895 "Open the Registry Editor and select the file path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer Then right-click the Explorer folder, select "New" and click DWORD value (32-bit). A value will be created in the explorer folder. Set the name of the value from "AltTabSettings". After the DWORD value (32-bit) is created, double-click on it. Now change the value from 0 to 1. After that select OK. Then restart the computer. Maybe the function for automatic updates needs to be disabled. Here with me I have now again the old Alt + Tab function. It runs great. I hope that MS can soon fix the bug in Win 11."

Same issue here and, likewise, only Destiny has that behavior. Deactivating game mode and updating drivers didn't change anything nor did reinstalling the game.

I have the same issue. alt+tab doesn't make the game pop-up. i have to alt+enter 2 times to get the game back up again.

1 ReplyEdited by CoilTap: 12/29/2021 8:47:25 PMJust want to add that I'm also experiencing this on a fresh install of Windows 11. I installed Win11 just yesterday after rebuilding my machine. I did not have this issue on Win10 prior to the upgrade. Windows 8 Compatiblity mode and disabling fullscreen optimizations did not resolve the issue. Setup: Core i9 12900k RTX 3080 Ti 32 GB RAM Win 11 Home

I have the exact same problem, did you find a solution?

Same problem here to. Must exit game and restart. Win 11, nVIDIA 1650Ti mobile.

I've just upgraded to windows 11 pro and been getting the same thing happen to me. I'm running a Radeon 6700XT. Done all windows updates. Tried using disable full screen optimizations in the d2.exe but still no help. Weird bug. You using intelligent standby list cleaner?

I put on Windows 8 compatibility mode for destiny2.exe. Seems to be ok now...
-
Well this hasn't worked for my since the Steam launch, this on Windows 10. Had to turn off "Fullscreen optimizations" for the exe file in it's properties and compatibility tab, but guessing HDR doesn't work if you do that. I've gone through both CPU/Generation changes during this time and loads of driver versions, still doesn't work so can only assume it's an issue with the game.

2 RepliesStrange issue as I've been on Windows 11 for a few days and so far everything has been working fine, I only tun Destiny 2 in fullscreen as well due to HDR and that fullscreen in this game just runs far smoother, so far atl tabbing back and forth between the game and anything else on the desktop has been flawless no matter how many times I do it. I find alt tabbing in Windows 11 in this game is actually even faster than Windows 10 was as I don't get a 2 to 3 second delay when I alt tab back into the game. I upgraded over the top of the retail build of Windows 10 Pro straight to the RTM Windows 11 Pro build. This is with a Nvidia 3090 running the latest 472.12 driver.

4 RepliesWindows 11 is not a supported OS for Destiny 2.

3 RepliesI just updated to Windows 11 today and it is a pretty big bummer that it isn't working when alt-tabbing. I run fullscreen because I need to in order to use HDR. A workaround I am going to try is just changing the game to windowed fullscreen before alt-tabbing and then changing it back when I am done.
