I'm returning to my fps roots and cleansing myself of this wannabe WoW/COD, starting with Halo. When a gun was a gun and it shot the same until the servers shut down. That's what I want. No more endless changes.

You could not have been further from your point. Literally every game these days have been receiving sandbox changes. If you want a game that doesn’t change, I would recommend Chess. We are still waiting for the developers to nerf the queen but it’s been decades and no word from them.
