Malfeasance step 5 2x mote point loss is impossible.
Malfeasance part 5 quest is the dumbest thing in existence when all i get is matches full of hackers or try hards and i cant even bank a single mote and then when i finally get to 90% the time i get invaded and murdered instantly its litterally impossible and im getting extremely pissed off at this stupid quest. Bungie fix your broken game for one and two fix this terrible quest whoever thought this was a good idea is the so stupid. How stupid do you have to be to create a quest chain that is near impossible to do regardless of what you do. Espeically when its a completely useless exotic in the first place now because for some reason you people cant figure out how to balance things well nor take any actual feedback it seems which is even worse.

You sound like the kind of person -blam!- to bank anything under 15 motes, doesn’t pay attention to the status of your teams bank or to how close the other team is to invading, and inevitably loses motes because of it.

Just bank groups of 5-10 motes. Stop going for the bigger drops because you're almost guaranteed to get screwed either by teammates not helping clear the Bank or (as you're already aware) Invaders.

A few points. First round of baking notes either do 5 or 10 and get a hang of when invaders might come through the portal because once people start banking initially get rid of all your motes.

Stop trying to bank a lot of Motes at once. If you see the opposing team is close to getting an Invasion, play more carefully. There are some teams that don't invade once they get their portal up, but don't take that chance.

Because you shouldnt always focus on motes. When you see enemies are about to invade dont stack motes / hide. If you wanna go for the 15 motes, just go for 25 motes in the bank. Then while your mate is invading, farm the 15 motes. If you do things correctly you might never lose a single mote due to invaders.

Just bank every mote you get. Dont farm 15.

I didn't even think this quest was still active. I know I played it safe and banked about 4 to 5 motes at a time.

2 RepliesI really wish they would make the mote step possible. Myself and the entire D2 community have been stuck on this step since the quest came out. He's right Bungie please fix your broken unplayable game. Stop blaming your teammates plenty of people soloed this part of the quest. Play Safe, bring a few things for defense and maybe a super shutdown. The goal is to deposit motes without catching the die. Your job is to get motes, stay alive (hard part I know), and deposit motes when safe. "its a completely useless exotic" LOL not even. Is it "META", no. Is it a good hand cannon (epically on taken), yes. Yes you are going to need a team for the quest step that has you complete a turned up version The Corrupted. I will reply to that tear soaked post when the time comes I guess. Go get the gun even if its just for collections. It really is a good gun especially paired with Lucky Pants.

They are counting on you to have 15 motes and then get Truthed by an invader. In addition this was how the Thorn Qest was in D1 with void energy weapon kills in the Crucible. They wanted Malfeasance to be the next Thorn.

The game is fine. You need to fix the way you play because if you’re struggling with that step, you’re obviously doing something wrong.

Bank at every possibility. Don’t collect to many motes. It isn’t that hard.

Edited by itzJuztThomas: 10/3/2021 7:00:23 PMIt ain't impossible dude, you have until the opposing team opens their portal to bank as many motes as you can without an invader icing you. Even if you only bank 10 motes and take 40 matches, it's a horrible grind but not impossible.

In all honesty, its not even a good gun. It wasnt good when it released. So unless youre a completionist id just skip over it, youre not misaing anything. Mines sat in the vault pretty much since i got it save for the 1 match i did try use it in only to realise just how crap it was. Havent touched it since save for private PvP matches just to goof off (no it doesnt work there either) So truthfully id just skip it. I have a lot of exotics in my vault that ive been devating deleting simply because they never have and likely never will be useful or were usefull at one time then the elites and content creators cried so it got nerfed into oblivion as per usual. Plus if they ever do go anywhere i could just reaquire them for next to nothing. Hell most of the exotics i have ive never even shot 🤣

Just don’t horde motes and bank as soon as you can. Also remember, when the enemy banks 25/50/75 motes they open the invasion portal. So anticipate that and try to bank before it hits those numbers.

Just only focus on that and put motes in while your team does whatever. Its definitely not fun to have almost all the progress you've made erased.

The quest has been out for 3 years, AND they’ve made it easier in that time. You’ll be fine, just bank after EVERY wave.
