I just had my Bungie name changed from "Blakkjezus" to "Guardian" after several years of being on several platforms (including this one) with no issue.
Is there an appeal process? Or in the very least when will we be able to edit our own Bungie names?
I have read your Code of Conduct and am wondering what is the thought process here.
Thank you in advance.

18 RepliesThere currently isn't a process in place to appeal or change a user name. Bungie has a username change function planned for release some time this coming Winter.

My name was TheSwanster69 to this name How the f is that name “offensive”

7 RepliesI can see why some would say my name goes against the code of conduct. It was Autistic Saint. But, I am autistic, so technically, by bungie removing my name is that not in itself an act of hate? Im just rambling here... kinda wish I got a warning instead of removing my identity but thats cool... I have had the id for years, now im just an everyday schmuck according to Bungie -blam!- bags over here.

Edited by ThereGoesFlawless: 9/28/2021 1:07:38 PMI've had the same happen to me. Set my original Bungie name when they were first introduced at the start of this season to Dare to Jurgen#3401 and I log in yesterday to find some generic "Guardian" name now set as mine without any warning. I can appreciate some people's names needing to he changed if they break the code of conduct but my name is pulled straight from my gamertag and is in no way offensive or code of conduct breaking. It doesn't have any non-platform characters or symbols either which I've heard is another reason why these are changed. So I want a reason why my name has been changed when there is no valid reason for it to have been done so? Give me a valid reason why and maybe I'll be able to accept it but right now I have not been provided with one.

Happen to me as well just yesterday and my name was LazyAssKnight. A shame cause it was fine after the update for crossplay.

I'm sad to have gotten name changed. To me it feels like getting reported for your name might be enough for them to change your name regardless if it doesn't breach the code of conduct. Its silly, but I'm going back to my old name when the decide to give the chance again. I also find it a little sad, there are no warnings. No "Hey we have been getting name reports for you". Nothing, just a change. I can understand the ones that really do break the code of conduct, but the ones that don't? Zero communication is bad. No reaching out. I did nothing wrong so why am I being penalized?

1 ReplyI was affected by this as well. My xbox Gamertag has Trump Won in it and its not banned on xbox but apparently bungie has an opinion and doesn't agree with mine. This is very wrong and we should be able to use our xbox gamertags!

Edited by Blakkjezus: 9/28/2021 2:20:02 AMEven in this thread I understand the dliemna Bungie faces. I don't want to play against "Trump" ANYBODY. I understand "Autistic" is a gamer word but what if someone IS autistic like the person above? So I'm not here to breathe fire. Like many processes they have to grow and refine themselves over time. That is fine. All I ask is if that you folks sort out a warning system for users. Not TWAB and Twitter updates. Reaching out to first time offenders to give them a deadline. I did not know that "Blakkjezus" (a 20-year old handle) was being examined in the same light as "I Need Trump". A granular approach would be amazing. In due time I imagine.
