I mean...strikes crucible and gambit are free...everything else was paid for...or you cant even play the storyline or access character powers.
Its like destiny trial version really.
Shouldnt be allowed to claim F2P status unless the main game is free.
Like once you buy the game and all the expansions, jumping is free. So its free to play?
Edit: to clarify....i understand what part of the game is free.
What I am saying is, for Bungie to claim Destiny legally as a F2P title, in regards to how that affects taxes, regulations on loot box sale, etc...while in actuality the majority of the game is pay walled like a standard AAA title is disingenuous and shouldnt be accepted by the community.
If you want the title of F2P...a title that comes with grueling hard work with NO guarantee of pay, which destiny has never had to endure,....you should have to earn it.
That simple.
Its like claiming the R or D party are grassroots movements because some folk singer sang a song about them.

F2P is a glorified demo. You get to try the playlist activities, and have a taste. After the taste test, if you liked it, buy the meal.

4 RepliesEdited by Knight: 9/27/2021 1:54:07 PMYou answered your own question. It is the trial version of destiny. It’s a way to get new players playing and then nudge them to buy the expansion. Many of the core activities you mentioned are still a big part of the game. Prophecy and VoG are free as well. I’m not sure what you’re getting at. When you refer to “main game” there really isn’t one. It’s a combination of old and current paid content releases so why would they be free in the first place?

All destinations are free to access, most of crucible is free to access (except trials, that's a good thing), gambit is free (not like you want to play it), returning content is free like VoG and another raid during the year post witch queen launch. For campaign it was free until beyond light launched.

sounds to me like you successfully played the game for free

1 ReplySo why don't you consider strikes, crucible or gambit part of the main game? That's a decent chunk, if you don't like it just buy the game or don't play.
