Fix Melee whiff

So is there ever going to be a fix to your melee whiffing? It’s been years of playing this game and countless times I’ll go up to someone to punch and I hit the air next to them and end up dying, there’s even times I’ll punch twice and still miss so it’s pretty annoying that this still hasn’t been fixed. Obviously you can say it’s a connection thing but I’ve gotten new internet and it still happens

  • I think this has to do with the garbage peer to peer connection we end up using in D2. Desync between 2 clients is very commonly seen , dying behind walls and missing melee or them not taking damage when you shoot them point blank on your screen. Sometimes they match you Asians with people from NA , that's around 250 ping. And if gets worse if one of their connection is bad regardless of physical distance and is also easily exploitable by some sweat lords. Can't take PvP seriously in a game that uses P2P.

      Since crossplay went live, my ability to melee Xbox players while I'm on PS5 seems to be terrible. I lunge and get the full animation, but no damage at all. Sometimes twice in a row. Which is weird, because I can't remember the last time my melee whiffed pre-crossplay. Easily been months.

    • I’ve seen it less on Warlock, but then again warlocks still have the slowest melee

      • PVP cried, melee was nerfed. Un-nerfing melee will cause PVP to cry again. Rock and hard place.

              You know what’s worse than a melee whiffing? Audibly hearing ever swing in a sentinel shield combo hitting and no damage being dealt…

              • My issue is when I use my melee ability and the enemy shows that they’ve been hit by it (electricity or flames on them) they don’t take any damage 🙄

                • It’s especially annoying when using shoulder charge (which seems to have less range than regular melee these days lmao) and you push someone away from you instead of it registering damage on them. Happens to me usually multiple times per match if I use it a good amount, so I have almost entirely stopped using it. It’s too frustrating to use.

                    • I’ve started letting them kill me when they clearly connected and did zero damage. I just don’t care.

                    • From my experience, Titan's can't hit things below them and Warlocks can't hit things above them. Hunter's seem to have the edge in melee-duels, since they usually have good lunge tracking (except on Revenant)

                        • Agreed, I’ve seen most whiffs when engaging with the enemy at sloped surfaces. Could be some distance value that triggers the melee, but there could be a range that is hit that will cancel the hit.

                        • Nah. What needs fixing is when you use your ranged melee on the mob 10 feet in front of you, but you magically spin 180 to b!tch slap a Dreg standing behind you for no reason.
