5 RepliesKena: Bridge of Spirits. It has been way too long since I’ve played a 3rd persion action RPG (because they’ve all gone flippin’ open world, blech), so it’s really nice to play one again—and one that seems to be completely linear no less! Brilliant! The story seems okay, but so far it’s noth anything special. Basic combat feels like a standard action RPG, with you light & heavy attacks, dodges & parries and whatnot. They have these nifty little dudes called Rot, though, who are adorable little fluffballs you can use to pull off special attacks. You have standard “powered up swing/shot” stuff, but you can also send them out to distract baddies, or cleanse corruption which is pretty neat. One early game boss would teleport away from all your attacks until distracting him with the Rot, which gave you the chance to charge in and beat him up. It’s a fun ability. I also like that your XP comes not from beating enemies, but from finding more Rot to add to your increasingly adorable army. And you can buy cute little hats for them, too. However, the thing that I really love about Kena is its magic spirit bow. I’m not sure why, but it is the most satisfying bow I’ve ever used in a video game*, even though it’s honestly pretty standard. It does double as a grappling hook though, which is really jamblasted cool! I seriously just ran around for 15 minutes shooting my bow because it’s so satisfying to use. Also I lied and the last thing I did was watch more Hilda, but I already mentioned Hilda last time so I jumped back one more. I really love that show, though. <3
*Arguably, The Pathless’ bow was more satisfying, but that’s kinda cheating because the reason The Pathless’ bow was so satisfying wasn’t actually because of the bow, it was the movement system. In The Pathless your bow auto-locks on nearby targets, and whenever you shoot something you get a big speed boost. The game is mostly just you sprinting around shooting things with your aimbot bow, and it is a blast. Also, both these games are Playstation exclusive (or, at least aren’t on Xbox). I wonder if the Playstation controller has anything to do with them being so satisfying to use.
Currently binging my way through the Lucifer television series. I'm currently on Season 3. I'm enjoying it so far. I can see why it's developed a cult following. I can also see why Fox cancelled it, and Netflix picked it up. It's not a great 'murder mystery of the week', or episodic TV show ( most network TV shows favour the episodic format over the serialised format ). But it works very well as serialised TV show that has interesting characters that develop over time. It's also surprisingly bingable.

my n my pal watched the new candyman last night, my review? it wasn't as good as the original, too many random deaths, noteably the school girl one. also too many offscreen deaths. it also doesn't play mindgames like the original did, wherein: could it just be the person is insane or is there really a killer ghost.. which makes it less interesting all round. the way candyman was depicted was much scarier than the original though, in this movie he can only be seen in mirrors and is often floating like a ghost should be, and his face is obscured by bees sometimes!! 😯 acting and production was top tier, gave me a hate -blam!- for art people and their culture for the rest of the night. the ending lost me though, after he went to see his mom it stopped making sense, and the third person in the final act has no buildup to being that crazy, nor does he have any place being in it at all. and then there's the cop scene. old peele couldn't be subtle in the movies themes anymore (like the original). this entire sequence was just cringy. they also swapped out the main character for the original candyman, which i felt devalued anthonys journey & sacrifice, but hey they got the nostalgia bait in there. the final act all together was a wet fart and brought the entire movie down a peg.

4 RepliesEdited by Autumn Witch520: 9/20/2021 11:39:50 PMFallout 76 is better than Fallout 4 I have done nothing but server hop at West Tek for 2 hours The amount of 3 star enemies dropping 1 star Loot is too damned high Crafting legendary items sucks. - First you need to farm gold, which is earned via Treasury Notes gained from events, to buy plans for the best weapons or armor. - In some cases you also need specific perks, so go grind a few levels for that point or two in science - You also need Legendary Cores, which I think are gained from endgame events. Idk I have like 150+ of the damned things - On top of that you need legendary modules, which you get by selling Legendary gear for Scrip and then using the Scrip to buy the modules - And after all that you discover you're out of screws so go scavenge some desk fans at Sugar Grove - and finally, congrats! You've crafted your armor or weapon! Unfortunately RNG has bestowed upon you the worst perks in the game, so go turn it in for a fraction of the Scrip you used to craft it. - BTW there's a limit to how much Scrip and Gold you can make in a day. Have fun!

Edited by Knavenformed: 9/21/2021 2:02:22 PMI've been pretty into Guild Wars 2, currently on my third month daily logins. I feel like I'm somewhat of an accomplished player still new though, haven't done either expac yet but slowly glimbing gold rank in PvP, got Kingslayer title with my Warrior main and I'm building up my Ascended rarity gear slowly but surely. The game has been structured so well for a long grind where everything is worth doing so I can just hop from content to content to progress. Also in the next expansion Warrior gets a gun-daikatana fusion weapon, absolutely metal, love it.

1 ReplySaw The Black Dahlia Murder last night with Undeath, Rivers of Nihil, Carnifex and After the Burial. It was sick. Undeath is definitely going places. 9 / 10 'cause Carnifex is as edgy as I always imagined them to be.

2 RepliesWatched Donnie Darko for the third time. Such a beautiful movie. I don’t even wanna review it, I’ll spoil too much. Somebody uploaded the full film to YouTube so go watch it yourself. Played some apex afterwards. Dogshit servers kicked me from almost every game I loaded up. Then some dude heard my voice on the mic and lost his mind. Spammed me with friend requests and went on for a while about how much i sounded like some anime girl. Weebs are the scum of the earth. I won 6 games tonight.

4 RepliesEdited by A Stormy Dio: 9/20/2021 8:55:34 PMIt was Apex Legends…then, shite servers happened throughout the weekend. So I switched to finally jumping on Fallen Order and started another run of Dragon Age Origins. Fallen Order so far feels…pretty damn good. I’ve been liking all the characters so far (why Cere gotta be so bug eyed though, I’ll never know), and the locations look stunning as hell. Origins? Immediately started a relationship with Leliana. Am at Redcliffe Castle right now.

3 RepliesEdited by The Superego: 9/21/2021 1:08:58 AMLatest finish was Full Metal Panic! Kind of disappointed that the fight in the middle was the only one that was good, the rest were poorly animated or too short. Gauron is an OK villain but I've seen his archetype done better.
The show can't decide if it wants Gauron dead or alive and it was getting annoying.
Personally, I hate characters like Sousuke, I want to see them get annihilated more than I want them to succeed. Tessa and Kaname are OK but nothing special. The rest of the cast (excluding Kurz and Melissa, see below) have next to no screen time and I can barely remember them. The love triangle doesn't work as Sagara barely ever shows interest in either and the two girls have more chemistry with each other. The concepts the show has are pretty underutilized in exchange for more wacky hijinks. The comedy mostly fails to land but it did get me a few times, and those times were pretty good.
Everyone who dies also happens to be a massive -blam!- (except 3 people, of which only one gets any screen time) and as such death never really hits hard.
Would've probably been better if Kurz and Melissa were the protagonists. They along with Gauron are the only good characters. Overall, disappointing for a show so popular but not bad. Just kind of middling. For better Drama in a similar way watch Mobile Suit Gundam 00, for better comedy and romance that's similar watch Super Dimensional Fortress Macross. 5/10 (Please note, this is only the first season, it could get better. Also, if anyone else wants to know my ratings out of any other mecha shows you may ask. I've finished: Flip Flappers, ATLA, Korra, The Transformers Season 1, 2, and the movie, Bayformers, Bumblebee, Darling in the Franxx, and Into the Breach)

Just finished another long awaited playthrough of a game called Eternal Sonata. I love the game with every inch of my soul: - It is bright, vibrant and has some very pretty and downright beautiful scenery and environments. - The combat starts simplistic but evolves and changes as you progress the story. - An ok story. - A wonderful cast of characters. - There are lengthy monologues and a scene that drags on far longer then it needs to be. - There is content only available for the PS3 version, so I highly recommend that version (Coming from an xbox guy) Not a trailer but The shape of life.

LiS True Colors. Not as good as the first or BtS. But it was so much better than the second. Continues the series’s excellent use of music and interpersonal connection. I was concerned about the empathy power when I heard about the game, it just didn’t seem like it could shoulder the supernatural element. But I wound up taking a liking to it almost instantly. It allowed some interesting reflection on dealing with and processing trauma. Decent story. Had a conspiracy, which the second one lacked. Managed emotional highs and gut punches well. The threads all came together in the end. Had some cheesy moments, but was unafraid to lean into them, which I liked. And unlike the first game, gave closure in the end.

NFS Payback is better than Forza. Has better car sounds, actually HAS a story, speed cards make it easy to upgrade cars, and car customization is way more fun.
