Gambit is absolutely horrid, you force the community to play the game mode that was horrible to begin with (that you some how butchered even more) every week for pinnacle gear. To top it all of this week, make me suffer through my three games and didn't even give me my gear. Please destiny if you are gonna force us to play the most retchet game mode you guys have ever added to the game, make it so i actually get my gear.

3 RepliesIf you think about it, they have the potential to make Gambit really enjoyable since they managed to overhaul Trials.

Destiny is absolute trash

1 ReplyEdited by Ragnarok: 9/20/2021 10:32:51 PMI've been saying it for years. I'd rather play in pre-stasis-nerf Crucible than play Gambit. Never been able to stand the mode. Edit: also I still blame Gambit for sleeper simulant being bad for so long.
-
I play a lot of crucible. Gambit just for the pinnacle. It’s too boring.
-
I totally agree LOL

gambit is the best mode, its a bit of a struggle solo, but with a team its fantastic. usually people hate it because they arnt covering their bases with a balanced loadout. you need to have something for ad clear something for orange bar burst dps, something for boss dps, anf finally something for invading/invader countering

8 RepliesEdited by +Tooterfish: 9/21/2021 1:44:54 AMI only ever install the game for Gambit. I love gambit. I don't have a lot of time in the game yet so maybe I'm missing something, but I hear that it sucks from a lot of people. I would really appreciate it if someone could ELI5 to me why Gambit is so loathed, but without the rage and sarcasm.

Stop saying they're forcing you. Is a bungie executive holding you at gunpoint saying he'll shoot if you don't play it? Is there a timer in your game saying "Account will be banned in X hours unless Gambit match has been completed"? Is your mom or dad telling you they'll send you to military school and disown you while you're there if you don't play Gambit? Nobody is forcing you to play gambit. "BUT MAH PINNACLE" That's you. That's all on you. YOU choose to want the pinnacle, so YOU choose to play gambit for the pinnacle. You can just...ignore it. You don't HAVE to get the gambit pinnacle. You can stay relevant without it. I barely touched Gambit at all in the last 3 seasons, and I've played a few matches in the last month or so with friends that just started the game. Without Gambit, I was never far behind hard cap, and that's also without doing bounties much at all, so my artifact was hardly contributing. You do NOT have to play this game at all. Nobody is forcing you to play this game. Nobody is forcing you to play any specific activity on this game. You choose what modes to play, you choose what loot you find worth it. Hate gambit this much? Then stop playing gambit, and compensate for the loss of the pinnacle by doing more elsewhere to earn XP to buff up your artifact. Here's the short and sweet of it, the TL;DR for those of you too illiterate to withstand more than 3 statements: Nobody forces you to play ANY part of this game, it's all by choice, so either suck it up and play the mode in silent acceptance, or stop playing the mode and compensate for the lack of pinnacle elsewhere. DON'T come to the forum whining and crying and saying Bungie forces you to do something you don't want to do.

5 RepliesI dunno, I enjoy Gambit. I got a couple friends to start playing it every Friday. Turned it into a drinking game to make it more bearable for them. We get into a rhythm have a few strategies, but otherwise have an ok time. We will often do better than breaking even for the night. This past weekend we went 9-5 and felt like we did very well. I’d say the two biggest things hurting Gambit right now are Bounties that encourage behavior contrary to working as a team towards an objective, and not enough maps. The bounties issues causes people to either not play at their best, or focus on objectives that may not be the best for the team. Like making a person feel like they have to invade over and over just to get Guardian kills, even if they’re not very good at invading. Or having to bank 15 motes, so they spend all game trying to get 15, and end up dying with 12-14 motes all game. The maps issue causes the mode to feel very repetitive from game to game. Other than that, maybe some tuning of things in the mode. Like tuning some weapons and mods so they don’t trivialize the mode’s enemies. Like Eyes of Tomorrow, or Code of the Missile with that exotic chest that can allow a team to nuke a Prime Evil in 3 seconds. Just the outlier stuff.

I would assume Gambit is more fun when you're running as a team. Sadly I can never find people willing to play it longer than they need too.
-
Why are you forced to play it? You get a +1 pinnacle that drops after 3 matches, yes, but +1's suck and I never do them and I'm already 1330 base equipment.

1 ReplyIn my opinion, the players that struggle with Gambit are the ‘Heroes’ who think they are large and in-charge and everyone other than them is doing it wrong and they can win the match on their own, if only the other players would listen to them. #Teammatesnotheroes

Wait I thought Prime and T3 Reckoning were its worst modes, or even its old 2-3 match mode. As a Dredgen I only go there if I need a new hot gun, like when Igneous Hammer showed up and I needed a Bottom Dollar. I wouldn't say its horrible, matches are quicker so you suffer less, leave it for other Dredgens to gild their unholy title of villainy and inflated ego! RNG robbed you, not Gambit, Gambit was its means of not-delivery, RNG is a -blam!- thing but its a plague in this game...
-
I liked it when it was 3 rounds, & you had the dreaming city map where that giant -blam!- thing could spawn

2 RepliesGambit is suffering for maps, and boss health needs to be upped again (our dps has gone up again) But probably the biggest issue for gambit is the players. Players who prefer pve hate the invasions, and pvp players can be focused too much on invading and doing nothing but. Those who excel in gambit are the ones that remain flexible, as the role you must take changes from moment to moment. The reality is, most players get tunnel vision when performing a task; overfocused on mote collection or boss dps, or prematurely invading and wasting it. Gambit is home for the hybrid player.
-
4 RepliesIts biggest issues are lack of maps, primeval melting, connection issues( in reference to teleporting enemies and motes being stuck under the map or not getting picked up when walked over) and the lack of loot to chase. I miss all the gambit weapons and armor. Now what loot is there to try and grind besides a few crappy generic reskined weapons and a pinnacle.

12 RepliesUnpopular opinion, but I like gambit. In 3 days I played 75 matches. Might have a problem, idk.
-
3 RepliesIt's actually a really decent mode if you have 2 reasonably even teams. I genuinely don't get all the hate for it?
-
I agree that Gambit can be better, but instead of attacking them, it would probably help if you can suggest ways to make the players' experience more enjoyable. For example, you can write about what would you like to see Bungie put in Gambit, or even make a poll or something. I understand how you're feeling but the approach you took isn't going to help you or them...
-
Just add matchmaking to it
-
I wouldn't go so far as to say its trash, but it has problems. mainly on balance. If the other team has either one thousand voices or eyes of tomorrow and your team does not. you will lose and there is nothing you can do about that. You can have your primeevil down to 20% before they get theirs up and then 2 seconds later theirs is dead.

1 ReplyTitan with thundercrash + exotic chest, travelers chosen, null composure + particle deconstruction, ascendancy and I have loads of fun fast paced too
-
5 RepliesGambit isn't that bad. You just need to get to a point where you do no more than 9 matches. Like me, I just gilded my title and now I'm secure in the knowledge that I only have to play 9 matches a week for the next 5 months unless a quest requires it. In short: Embrace Gambit because the Gambit community embraces you.
