Shatter Dive needs to use a full melee charge

Shatter Dive needs to use a full melee charge. The ability to speak ice walks and kill everything nearby with a follow up shattered dive is easily too powerful. Sure, I can use my Titan on middle tree Arc to slam down on 2 or 3 opponents while wearing Syncocepes and kill them all if they are close enough, but it uses an empowered melee to limit that kind of crap. Hunters have zero checks and balances.

  • What about the Titan slide which to me is a larger issue since it takes no resources to use outside of a thrown grenade(just like shatter dive) but you can rapidly chain it and you have far more control of what you are doing with it on the ground.

    • I could get behind this. But like shoulder charge, you should only consume the melee if you hit a glacial shard or player (basically inflict damage).

    • Technically the shatter damage comes from the grenade. Making Shatterdive a melee would be rather pointless since it doesn’t do anything on its own. So unless you’re planning to give it the same damage as a melee I don’t see how this would work. If you did give it the same damage as a melee then it would be busted. This isn’t a good idea at all. Address the source of the problem, that being shatter damage.

      • Literally the only change that needs to happen to shatterdive, doesn't even affect shatterdive: When a player takes damage from a stasis crystal shattering, they cannot take damage from another stasis crystal shattering for 0.2 seconds.

      • Lol zero checks and balances. You are right the melee hasn't been neutered to the point of being useless. The super hasn't been gutted to the point that shatter diving a grenade is more effective. Dodge shurikan freeze isnt possible. The new hunter exotic was disabled instantly and you still make this idiotic cry post? Quit being a dolt and look at actual facts.

        • Hahaha! Shatter dive is useless without any grenade charge. Warlocks have hand held nova bomb, and a melee that shoots across the screen. The hunter melee is the weakest in the game. Lol Titans have almost endless one hit kill melee charges that cool down faster than most other melees in the game. Let’s not leave out that hunters is the only class with out an arc pulse grenade. It’s balanced in a very obtuse way. So what. Warlock and titans are what I compete against most matches in any pvp it seems. Very rare to come across a 3 hunter fire team in ToO or any other playlist with 6 players that are all hunters. Average two hunters out of a 6 v 6… Let me truly interpret your post complaint for what it really is… “I keep getting shatter dived by hunters because I’m trying to hide around corners crouching on my maxi-pad healing rift; and they keep killing me!!! WHHHAAAAA!” Stfu….

            Bro a full melee charge is not enough, you realize stasis hunters already have 2 charges on their melee right? They can max out melee stat as well and if thats not enough, hunters can easily just use the dodge that refills their melee upon dodging near enemies. I mean come on its common sense. Shatter dive is not going away, thats just a fact. Its a forever crutch that these hunters will spam until the end of times, nerfing the dive wont solve the issue either as they will still be able to one shot supers. The culprit is the damage caused from the shards! Thats what bungie really needs to nerf, bungie should cap the damage of the shatter dive to 90-100 max! Now they cant one shot supers or other players, its now a utility ability designed to either finish off enemies or cause some AOE damage. No more dying to some random freeze or dying to the AOE of the massive shards. Thats how bungie can truly fix shatter dive

            • Use the dodge charge maybe, but not the melee as well. That makes no sense. At least using the dodge charge ensures that if they whiff, they'll be punished for being a dirty ape. Maybe people will use the Sixth Coyote but that means they're giving up their Stompees or Mask of Bakris for that extra dodge charge.

Hunters have zero checks and balances.[/quote] Your argument is flawed. You use a full melee charge on your Titan because that attack is a melee. Shatterdive on the other hand is not a melee and does next to no damage by itself. The damage comes from the glacier grenades exploding, which to throw, does cost a grenade charge. So if you want shatterdive to cost a melee charge on top of a grenade charge then it would only be fair for a Titans shoulder charge to cost a grenade charge too.

                • I hear your suggestion but disagree. It uses a grenade charge, it's not a free kill. Like I said in another thread around shatterdive, a -30 or so mobility debuff on the shattering fragment should resolve the balancing issue by limiting aggressive play with shatterdive. Would have been nice to place the debuff on the grenade enhancemented aspect on hunter but stat changes on aspects is not a president that was set.

                      It sounds great except that a Hunter can dodge and get their melee back, and then the dodge can have as little as a 13 second cool down. So their ability to shatterdive would still be entirely reliant on their grenade cool down. My suggestion, give shatterdive a cool down that is directly and solely governed by the user’s strength stat. So to do it at its highest frequency would require max discipline and max strength. And if you really want to hit them harder, make it so they can ONLY shatterdive their own grenade.

                    • Also must take more damage from peoe while you're in the air. You may not dodge as well as use super. In fact your super gets taken away. If wearing stompies... Say goodbye because it will dissappear and be replaced with generic white Armour. Your guns also do no damage. Best nerf I can give you. Take it or leave it

                    • Nerfing it again most likely won't do enough. Shatterdive just simply shouldn't be in the game. I don't see how people take pvp serious with things like this in the game.

                        The only sucky thing about that is that it‘ll make it an unviable movement ability. The issue everyone has with shatterdive isn’t it’s movement, it’s not even the dive. I think there needs to be a cooldown in between the time you toss a grenade and the time you can dive. This will prevent it from being an insta-kill-everything-around-me ability but still keeps the use of grenades/dive combo. This will solve the problem because the danger is no longer a Hunter rushing you with an instakill bomb, the danger now is a grenade toss just like every other grenade you’d want to avoid.

                        • It does cost a grenade tho? Dont get me wrong, i dont use stasis on PVP. I prefer to use arcstrider. But that isnt a good way to balance it.

                            • Even though I like to play as a hunter i gotta agree with one guy here, titan stasis was destroyed it's a joke even an old lady can run from it, warlock stasis is another bad joke you get the shaft too fast, i lost the count of how many warlocks with stasis i killed mid activation, hunter silence & squall continues to be strong, I'm a hunter but i gotta admit...
