Melee against crouching/sliding players

4 years later and this is still an issue? If you slide and I punch you in the head I don't want my melee to miss. Register it and give me the kill.

  • Even worse than this are hunters who spam jump during a melee fight, its absolutely broken.

  • Why is everyone blaming hunters? Any class can do that he’ll sliding will make the melee “miss” so will jumping.

      • Melees against dodging hunters is also broken. Today, I hit a hunter that rolled into a corner and my melee didn't register. He was literally still in front of me while he dodged.

        • Omg this happens so often its crazy! When hunters dodge sometimes the melee whiffs and also doesn’t register. Its so bad its laughable

          I think sliding should be nerfed simply for reasons of logic and realism. I don't even care if it helps or hurts me in Crucible, I just think it's silly. Imagine someone actually trying to slide into a room on their knees at all, let alone while firing a weapon. Diving while not shooting could be a good tactic to evade fire or get behind the enemy, but sliding on your knees is goofy. Even if possible, it would vary so much based on the ground or floor surface that it would not be predictable.

          • Yeah 100% agree, I though there was a tune up for shotgun sliding? Because I’ve not noticed a single change and it’s still a crutch lol absolutely no difference

          • Honestly, I’m a game as fast paced as this, they shouldn’t even need melees to physically connect. If the character lunges and there isn’t anything in the way, then it should do damage regardless of if it actually connects. The sheer speed that people can move makes melees so inconsistent in high tier combat

            • Melee hit reg used to be pretty damn spot-on (arguably TOO good) for a time in this franchise and as usual, people cried for balance/change/nerf etc. So now we have this "maybe it'll hit..." system.

              • Could make it function more like a shotgun blast. A small cone of damage in front of the player, no lunging making it hard to shoot a melee’ing target just a damage cone like overwatches so you don’t get the no reg -blam!- anywhere nearly as much. A lot simpler and maybe it could be built like a shotgun blast idk. I’ve always hated how melee works in this game, inconsistent and buggy like it has always felt more complicated than it needs to be

                • Kinda related, lost a trials match the other day when my teammate was the last alive and the enemy team only had 1 left alive. teammate went to melee after damaging the enemy but he ended up hitting an enemy ghost instead. ghost should not interfere with weapons or melees

                • When you slide I get it unless you look down, but the crouching one is pretty stupid when it happens. Really annoying, especially when locked on and basically connecting when they crouch.

                  • A long time ago they tried to address the melee sandbox. I don’t remember too much of the details but if memory serves the melee function is somewhat also tied to the guardian you use. Not talking about light class but actual guardian type. Because the body shape or something. So it makes it a little more difficult to tweak as if you tweak a melee for one type it offsets the melee of another. Or something like that. I don’t quite remember.
