Had a group that attempted to do DSC last Friday with crossplay - we started with 4 PC players and 2 PS5 players (I was one of the PS5 players). I was able to hear the four PC players just fine, but the other PS5 player (whom I usually play with but we use a PS5 party) couldn't hear anyone (including me).
He dropped out, and we had two different PC players try to join - and neither of them could get voice chat working. The second of those ended up joining Discord with the PC players, who stayed on the voice chat in-game with me.
Until we got through the first encounter. It took us so long to get a solution in place that one had to leave after the first encounter.
Getting in-game voice chat really shouldn't require a doctorate in PC sound configuration. And we still have no idea why the other PS5 player couldn't hear us or be heard at all. It's not like there are that many configuration options.
I tried it myself between my PS5 and a Stadia account, and it worked fine. I've played with players on PS4 while on my PS5 and used the in-game chat.
What are we missing? I *really* like that cross-play is released and that it works so well (ended up playing IB after the DSC raid failed to go forward, and even playing as a console player in a PC lobby, it seemed just fine - a couple bits of lag that were likely not platform-specific). But voice chat is a *must* for any raid, and as Discord isn't an option on Playstation, we need to know how to fix this so everyone can hear everyone else.
As an additional idea - how about voice transcription in-game? I was playing around with No Man's Sky as well this weekend, and noticed that there's an option to transcribe what players say on-screen. That would be a nice addition down the road (after voice chat is working reliably).

Still don't have an idea about why it didn't work for three separate PC players. Bungie, y'all really need to have an option to toggle the setting on the console versions if the setting is going to affect console users.
