So what's stopping a Hive ghost from bringing back Oryx?

That's a terrifying thought

    • oryx did not die in a sacrifice, he went out fighting for his own power. this makes him an unworthy canidate.

      • You’re forgetting that after becoming Hive gods Oryx, Savathûn, and Xivu Arath stopped loving each other and only viewed their siblings as rivals. A Hive Ghost wouldn’t find its way to Oryx because the Witch Queen would not tolerate a challenger to her power. Same for Xivu Arath.

"Only Oryx can take taken, but not even Oryx can taken an ogre, that's why golgoroth is a hive ogre and not a taken ogre bc taken ogres don't exist. Not even in strikes or prophecy" So basically only Oryx can reskin enemies. Savathun can reskin guardians and ghost shells in a hive theme.

          • Ghosts bring corpses back to life. Oryx has no body, we killed what was essentially his soul. You can't resurrect something that no longer exists in the corporeal realm.

            • It's possible he comes back. The moon activity was a ritual to revive him. A ghost definitely can bring him back...hell bungie.can just make up a reason he comes back. I'd enjoy a comeback with him.

            • Uh bout that his body is nowhere to be found plus we did turn him into the touch of malice in d1 and that got trashed in the red war so no oryx ain’t coming back plus if he did he’d probably be mad at savathun for foiling his plan

              • Nah, in order to truly be oryx, and to bring him back, you're looking at defining the first navigator...the next thought, the next design, the next shape...he is and will be the first of these, and the shape cannot exist unless oryx wills it into being. I still think savvy and xivu are taking from the Books (BoS), and going to define him back into existence.

                  • The fact that we ripped his essence out of his body shoved it into the ultimate masochist gun and then lost it in the red war…. No no wait you might be right this is an issue! 😂

                  • Many Ghosts in the Destiny universe talk about looking for a “spark” (some innate connection to the Light, perhaps?) to determine who they can ressurect as a Guardian. I say can rather than should due to the number of those who have been reborn only to use their newfound power for selfish/evil ends (from the Warlords of the pre-City age, to several members of the Shadows of Yor, to some more recent Guardians touched by the Darkness). While it could be that most Ghosts have a single “fated Guardian” they can resurrect (with at least one exception in the Ghost of Jaren Ward who later passed to Shin Malphur) and that technically anyone could be brought back, it might instead be the case that those capable of being reborn actually comprise a small percentage of the countless dead. If such were the case for Humans/Awoken/Exos then it stands to reason that any other race capable of producing Guardians would follow the same rules, assuming it is done through the same style of resurrecting the dead, rather than having the powers of the Light bestowed upon the still living (as happened when Ghaul attempted to steal the Traveler’s power). • Probably the fact that they may only work in Savathun's throne world, and she wouldn't intentionally bring back Oryx anyways.

                  • Depends on how Hive Ghosts will identify candidates for resurrection. Theoretically, if Oryx fit the criteria for resurrection, he could come back if one flew it's tiny boney -blam!- out to the dreadnought and found his body.
