Stay away from freelance
Something is up with that mode . Idk if bungie is using it as a matchmaking testing grounds or something. Man, it’s brutal in freelance

I accidentally MM'd into regular IB earlier... it was ok tbh, didnt feel much different to Freelance 😂

They are using it as a matchmaking testing grounds. It was mentioned in a twab like last season or even earlier. Its actual “balanced” skill based matchmaking where it takes the best player, the 3rd best, the 5th best etc and puts them on one team and puts the rest on another.

1 ReplyNah, my iron banner stats this season are better than my control, because it has freelance and I solo queue. It’s normally the opposite but for some reason control is full of stacks this season. I blame crossplay.

I always prefer freelance to matchmaking stacks, i only go in there when i have my friends to play with.

Can’t say I’m experiencing the “sweaty” Crucible matches everyone else seems to be experiencing. If anything, my matches have been easier than before, surprisingly.

4 RepliesAnother guy said here, i just checked, on freelance iron banner it says: Matchmaking Prefers: Similar skill. That's gotta be sbmm. That's why it's sweatier.

3 RepliesMaybe they're testing a new iteration of SBMM? If you look at the director it says "Matchmaking: Similar Skill" for freelance but not for the regular queue. I feel like the people I get in every freelance game are representative of my peak performance in my top 1% of games, not my average performance lol.

13 RepliesFreelance iron banner is actually skill based matchmaking, regular iron banner has stacks but its focused on connection. You basically choose your poison. I rather face stacks than streamers any day

Freelance seems more hard matches at least for me, some real good guys, even with stacks it feels more equal, freelance been sweatier for me.

2 RepliesI’ve gotten 1000 kills in there this week. Seems actually more balanced than any of the other game modes. Most of my matches have been close and not total mercies.

I did my IB quest earlier all in freelance. Pretty sure almost all of my games were called, either winning or losing. I'm used to my IB games being a lot closer from seasons before, so yeah it definitely felt weird.

IB is always off. Go back to regular control and it’s a world of difference.
