Thoughts on the current currency systems...
1. Glimmer feels nearly useless and has for an eternity. I can barely get rid of it fast enough to utilize the bonuses from seasonal progression. That doesn't even mention all of the Rainmakers I have in my inventory.
2. There are too many different currencies for upgrading. Legendary shards, Upgrade Modules, Enhancement Cores. I would argue that we should just use glimmer for upgrading weapon/armor light levels and legendary shards should just be used for Masterworking and perk progression.
3. On top of all of that, there are like 2 or 3 new currencies for every season too. My inventory is full of various items, fragments, charges, tinctures, components and shards, and I don't even remember what half of them do are what they were for. Maybe dial that back a bit?
4. With sunsetting some planets, this has gotten a little better, but do we need so many different types of planet materials? If there were just a couple and each planet had like 2 of the types each, that would seem a little more freeing.

The more there is the more you have to grind
-
VISA AND MASTERCARD should be enough!
-
Its just an on-purpose time waster meant to slow player progression and make players stay online forever. Just like all the garbage game tactics bungie has been using lately: Endless trash mobs Too long grindy EVERYTHING Sunsetting Content removal Gated Boss Fights Now they are even Gating the SEASON progress!!!
-
When I'm actively playing I can't gather glimmer fast enough. But I would like it if all planets used the same currency and have 1-2 currencies per season that get removed after 2 seasons have passed. Then keep the normal upgrade mats.

To put it simply, it's to much of everything! At least for me that is making this game both boring and a chore. And i hate chores!

2 Repliesbro just make everything motes of light

Hop on the organ grinder, little monkey, and dance.

1 ReplyI like it, personally. It gives the universe flavor. Having every vendor just go, "Eh, I'll take those purple crystals you're offering." would be lame. That said, where trimming is possible I'm down. Phasing out tokens was a stellar move.
Sorry, all out of salt.
1 ReplyWould make it to easy as some of us have thousands of each that's why it won't happen

2 RepliesEdited by Althanash: 8/31/2021 1:58:52 PMNo there isn't. Compared to a lot of games I've played there's no were near too many in D2 right now. Majority of the Seasonal stuff will vanish anyway on the release of Witch Queen. Edit: The problem you're looking at I believe......is there's a lot of currency but no where to truly spend it.

Someone said something that gave me this idea... In such a futuristic world, would it be so crazy to have a Digital Bank & Trading Post (First Galactic Bank of Spider & Everis)? We could have a menu tab that is just for currency exchange rather than going to ten vendors who all have various different things and you don't remember which. After chatting with some of you, I think I have more of a problem with the empty tedium of acquiring some of the currency. Rather than going to a bunch of locations and suffering a bunch of load screens (last gen problems) just to exchange shards for cores for prisms etc., why not just a screen that lets you do all of that so you can upgrade items when it is convenient?
-
1 ReplyI mean immersion isn't half bad with several currencies. But I understand your headache fam
-
1 ReplyCores could be the only armour or weapon upgrade material and just have increased costs for the final upgrades. Slightly more generous drop sources and we’ve done away with a couple useless currencies
-
1 ReplyJust remove upgrade modules. Such a pain in the -blam!-.

Been saying this foreveeeeer. D2 has some SERIOUS currency bloat problems. So many currencies preform the exact same tasks as other currencies and it all just serves to bloat our inventory. Planetary mats should be combined into a single item or removed from the game entirely, we need to consolidate our upgrade currencies into two or three, not the six we have right now. The seasonal and expansion currencies are more annoying than anything, especially in regards to Spider, Petra, and Variks, who's unique currency you can only get on their planet which you need to collect bounties, progress the upgrade tree, or both. We need a huge slimming down on currency.

7 RepliesEdited by N7_Dredgen: 8/30/2021 5:56:41 PMJust a quick glance at your light levels and Destiny Tracker is revealing imo. You have less than 50 hours all around. It stands to reason you aren't heavily invested, and probably aren't doing things like masterworking new weapons everyday, building a collection and burning through these materials like oil. Your characters aren't even close to the soft cap, so your understanding of the game economy is minimal at best. You can't get rid of stuff fast enough because you're not at the stage or commitment level where you need to. There comes a point where the cycle repeats, but unless you're a hardcore daily player you'll probably never reach that point. Also some points I just flat out disagree/don't like. Different planetary materials is just a cool detail, it would be a little lame collecting the same resources everywhere. The main point I agree on and dislike is seasonal currencies. I feel these could be reigned in. One per season is enough, and if they get deprecated within a year that means there should only ever be the 4 rotating currencies.

1 ReplyCurrencies have always been a convoluted over complicated for no good reason problem in Destiny since the beginning.
-
Its fine the way it is
-
Glimmer costs to change armor mods are just annoying since they chip away at your supply as you're trying new builds.
-
4 RepliesDestiny 1 was way worse lol

2 RepliesSo basically, even after sunset and a lot of veterans lost interest in this game due to lack of content, you, want less? I know im not the best person to talk about difficulties in knowing what currency do, since i have near 6k hours of game since D1, but we have really really few types of currency. Its a game with RPG elements, most of things you listed as "currencies" are also know as "cosumables" or simply "upgrading itens". Genshin, which is literally a smartphone rpg has more stuff than destiny. Destiny is not and should not be a casual play game, dont try to remove things people like in the game.

I think a big problem is how situationally useful a lot of the currency is. If currency had more use, you'd interact with it more. You'd know what it does and how much you have. Path of Exile has a good system for this. Passively playing at a low level rewards currency that has use for players at that level. That currency can be upscaled into currency that is more useful for higher level players, which can also be earned more easily at higher levels. This rule applies up until endgame, at which point you start getting into currency pools that are disconnected from that primary gameplay stream. Now, Path of Exile I would say absolutely does have too many different kinds of currency, but I still enjoy it's primary currency system and how it's seasonal currency can be interacted with and used.
-
The currency system needs a rework, and has since Black Armory. It's probably very complicated..
-
I agree glimmer should have more value since it's basically useless (except for swapping mods and buying FEW things that are important), but everything else shouldn't be removed because it's still used. Maybe have a separate inventory category for the seasonal stuff
-
Agreed, there should only be one😈

2 RepliesConvincing Bungie to reduce the amount of currency types is gonna be as successful as Qui-Gon Jinn trying to Jedi Mind trick Watto into accepting Republic Credits.
