If Mara Sov was as wise, cunning, clairvoyant, and powerful as she was fluffed up to be in all the other lore books, then she would have seen her own demise coming from a mile away. She would have seen the Bombardment coming and her plans would have stopped the Darkness’ total victory.

My main counterpoint here is that even though she might know doesn't mean she can use that information. We've seen it before with Mara that she isn't particularly convincing despite her perceived power. She couldn't even convince Sjur that she was serious when she confessed she planned to become something of a god (-blam!- oversimplifying). It would take a massive suspension of disbelief in a first-person standpoint to believe Mara if she just says out of the blue she knows the future of the timeline and -blam!- ain't looking good. Plus for all we know, Savathun's purpose in her current location could be to make sure Mara isn't spreading that information, under threat of reminding the awoken queen what her full first and last name is i.e -blam!- her actual world. Its also reasonable to theorize that at the current standings of the timeline (after being bent and misshapen by the Exo Stranger), Eris has officially struck the bargain with Savathun and become the Witch Queen's master, ala Dark Future book (which minus the Guardians, is pretty on track to happen).

1 ReplyThe dark future book was made wrong when the guardian destroyed the black heart ,it's irrelevant now
-
4 RepliesThere's loads of things like this. The vex have seen the future, so why did they bother invading the last city when they knew they'd lose?
-
I came for the explosions and blowing sh*t up, who cares about lore?
-
The dark guardians also only wield Stasis, which is just Bungie's way of hiding the names of the future subclasses

Mara is playing the long game. The word "death" is basically a 10min time out in this universe, especially with how powerful some characters are.
-
You and i know how this ends, ever since you've escaped from that ... pit The awoken have played their part This....was all part of the plan

3 RepliesIt's like using the Force to see the future , the more you try an harder you go the less sure the truth , like with FWC an their machine , Mara is very powerful, she's a walking talking cheek slapping psychic tank of nature but she isn't a guardian, she has no ghost, she's closer to mortal then we are
-
Pretty sure her death was apart of her plan.
-
The plot hole is you speculate she is really really smart?

8 RepliesMara Sov sercavents Death.... to her Death is nothing.

Where does it say that she didn't? Lol

Maybe it was a necessary sacrifice. Doctor Strang sacrificed half of the universe because he saw the end product. He sacrificed himself as well.
-
Its very possible she knew the DC must be destroyed since it's a gateway from the ascendant realm to ours. It's only a matter of time before more horrible things come thru the gateway. I mean both oryx and savathun both planned on using this. Also I'd like to point out that this lore tab, plus the lore tab on the seasonal ghost suggest that both the DC and tangled shore will enter the DCV. Also spider will join the house of light in the city.

So not being able to outplay an entity that's been around since the beginning of the Universe is a plot hole to you? Even at 2.1 billion years old Mara is still not at the level of the Gardener or the Winnower. And that's even assuming that she's not the one manipulating the time loop the Stranger is caught inside. If that's the case then Mara may be responsible for the victory of the Light by figuring out that the dynamic between the Stranger and Ana is the key and by giving her infinite chances to get it right. You're thinking two dimensionally and that just won't cut it when speaking of Gods and Mara.
-
Well, maybe she saw the outcome if she didn't intervene and perish? Maybe it was unavoidable. Gotta keep in mind that knowing about something doesn't mean you can stop it.
-
So the plot hole is… she’s smart enough to see an event we know nothing about coming?
