Not trying to talk down on previous people in charge or limit my positive feedback to only Joe but ever since he's in charge, we actually SEE changes made to the game right now. Not promises on top of more promises for the bright future, we see actions. Anti cheat, trials changes, vendor changes with fixed rolls to name a few. Sunsetting gone, better live service with more frequent balancing etc etc.
Also almost everything i heard for the future sounded good and honest. Just feels nice to see a good dude in charge who actually tries to steer the game into a healthy direction. We finally see improvements made for all the players, not only the most hardcore ones OR new free to play players. We see changes to invite everyone into all the activities and thats how it should be in an mmo.
"The team can only be as good as their captain". The Bungie devs have always been great, the right person in charge just allows them to do their greatest, which i hope will continue to happen from now on. So keep it up and thanks for providing us great entertainment.

1 ReplyEdited by TheShadow: 8/29/2021 3:03:09 PMI'm sorry, and I know I will be downvoted for this becase no one is allowed to look at reality, and if you point certain things out it's called "hate" that some will insult you for it becase pointing things out is actually a big no-no on this forum. You do know there are people above him that actually make the calls for this game, including Luke Smith that still has a say, right? What work has he actually done prior to being the lead for D2, because from what I remember he used The Dark Below as a reference that he worked on it. An expansion that was not well-received in 2014. It's just like how many, and I mean many (blamed Luke Smith) for everything that went wrong while he was lead. Do you see where I'm going with this? He is not the one that introduced "Anti-cheat", and that alone says enough for me knowing that was something that was already in play way before he became lead. IMO people really need to look at the whole picture here, but they don't and this post proves it. The truth be told, a lot of what has taken place is not something you can just change or do at the drop of a dime. (There is a process, A chain of command, approvals, board members.) It's just like players giving Luke Smith credit for The Taken King knowing there was concept art and other things in play way before he took over, and some like to leave out that he was moved over to D2 in the middle of Ttk. What this all boils down to is what the Higher-ups are looking at that benefits them. The lead is just a face that comes along with it.

Edited by A_Hairy_Gnome: 8/29/2021 6:35:43 AMHe may or may not have an impact, but the game has already established a new direction. He doesn't make that call. It's already been made for him. He is merely improving or keeping course on that established direction. And the last couple of years have been consistent. It's been substanceless.

11 RepliesGame is still -blam!-. Too little too late. Crucible is ruined forever and bungle has never had a clue or a vision about pvp. It isn't worth the time or money. Bungle can farm all the free to plays that won't buy -blam!- because they don't want to be farmed. Bungle never listens and never learns. Stupid

14 RepliesI still hate this game. Such a waste of something that could be good. Bungle you suck

2 RepliesMy only complaint right now is they made leveling up light level on just one character way too long. Not difficult but long, tedious, and annoying. There was a post the other day about a dude doing all pinnacles and getting like 9 cloaks. Just a few days ago I got a +0 in a slot that in literally any other slot could have been a +3-5. This is my first season after a year of not playing, I know a +3-5 seems nuts so there's your explanation. It really put a damper on me wanting to play so I logged for the day after that. I had the most fun during the game when leveling up was really simply and easy back in forsaken. You did bounties and activities and they all rewarded an upgrade of equal quality, I remember when +3 were somewhat common of a thing. You didnt need to be picky about what you did first and what you did last to ensure maximum LL gain. Especially for a number that is literally just there to keep you out of fun activities like raids that came out seasons ago at this point. im under 1300 and I cant do vog yet. Yes im salty I have to play 5 year old content just to play "new" content, can you tell?

1 ReplySee, guys? It only took them 7 years to buff scout rifles by 10% against red bars. It’s not so bad… right?
-
I thought you were talking about Joe Staten and Halo
-
You do realize that the changes you are seeing now were mapped out 2 years ago, right? This is That-guy-people-want-to-blame-for-everything’s vision. They just got more detail-oriented people to implement it, while they promoted him to a position that requires that Big Picture vision. But I do agree that Blackburn is a good fit for the public facing person for the franchise. I think some of his ideas are misguided, but he seems to be willing to acknowledge that and course correct quicker than some of his predecessors. Also there is a level of transparency on the pve side of the game that was unimagined seven years ago. Back then trying to get Bungie to talk about anything that want in the can and ready to release was like trying to pull bear teeth.

Your crying did nothing, don’t take credit for things that are changing from people actually trying to use the correct ways to voice a problem lol instead of cry on the forums.

10 RepliesUnless trials change was remove the three losses I’m still not coming back. It’s one thing to lose and keep playing. It’s another to lose and have to constantly restart. I could probably deal with basically everything else but for me to return pvp have to have a change as a whole. It need an overall. That an yea I’m going to be that guy. Give me the ability to buy everything I have missed out on an I’ll come back. So a pvp overall including comp and trials and being able to buy missed out on gear and other stuff. Then I’ll gladly come back and be cannon fodder. Till then nope.

I mean the scarab lord attempted to push an idea(sunsetting) that would have killed the game and was prob the most bone headed move to date(well maybe exp throttling). Its a low bar to set as the great scarab lord got demoted and likely cost the company hundreds of thousands dollars in fallacy costs. That being said I like joes vision.
-
1 ReplyThe damage sunsetting did is huge. This damage was not only to Destiny but to whole Bungie studio. So I don’t believe some Joe will change something. I am sure Bungie still waiting to fk you behind the corner with some mean sht.
-
Sunsetting still killed a large part of the game, till the cap is removed that shadow will remain on bungies legacy

Who's Joe?

Indeed

2 RepliesIt feels like their trying reworking every feature and put little QoL improvements wherever they can. I question how they’re going to keep a 6 month season going, but Witch Queen looks like it could potentially beat Forsaken.

6 RepliesEdited by Necrogen: 8/29/2021 4:14:53 PMjoe isn't in charge. Luke got promoted and has even more say that he originally did. Did you think luke made all those decisions when he was "in charge"? He has people to answer to as well.

1 ReplyJoe Mama
-
Eh. Maybe.
-
Agreed, if it's not Joe then someone is making some good decisions there, like the stasis subclass with all those options, or the rework of the subclasses for a more in depth customisation aswell, weapon crafting, I just hope for a more deep weapon customisation to similar to D1 at least, but so far great job trying to redeem themselves

9 RepliesEdited by RussellMania: 8/28/2021 10:13:53 PMAgreed. So far, at least. While I don’t really like any of the major Bungie devs as people, I have to acknowledge a job well done. He’s putting Luke Smith’s promise of a “renewed focus on PvP” into action (2 years later lol), among other things. I’m much more optimistic about the future of Destiny than I was this time last year. Also, it’s nice to have someone in charge who doesn’t create a meme every time he opens his mouth publicly. Luke Smith was a PR nightmare. 😂 Dude said things that were so tone-deaf and out of touch with the community. It was pretty hard to defend him being the game director.

PvP is still in a an awful state tho.

Nicely said. Bump.
