Will streamers who do recovs and win-trading on stream finally be banned too?

And will these actions be retroactive to streamers who are publicly known to have offered account recovs and win-trading in the past?

i get why it's a bad thing especially for Trials cuz it's a mess, but I don't see why people are celebrating this like recovs are about to be fully eradicated....news flash for you IT'S NOT. Nobody is paying attention to the wording of those updated ToS. The wording is extremely specific. It says you "can" be banned. Not you "will" be banned. Bungie knows they can't automate that process cuz there will be false bans if they do. And before you bring up things like HWID, IP, MAC Address none of that will work to ban recovs. All you're doing is screwing over people that travel a lot or have laptops and game. Not gonna work. Bungie is probably relying on player reports for this and if someone is reported they'll manually take a look at it. Seeing how this is active right now and recovs are STILL going on right now as we speak, not a single soul has been banned yet, so it's obviously not automated. Recovs aren't going anywhere, so stop celebrating. The only change you'll see are big streamers switching over to carries instead. Anyone who has streamed Recovs in the past (looking at you panduhh) will not be banned and frankly IMO they shouldn't be banned. That's like saying anyone who has gameshared in the past but doesn't do it anymore deserves to be banned lol what kind of logic is that. As for the Recov websites that have employed boosters, literally all they gotta do is switch on the VPN. and once again like i mentioned....no one is getting banned unless someone reports it and Bungie manually looks at the account. So yeah this is a temporary scare, long term this literally isn't gonna change a thing.

      • You cant ban someone for doing something that was legal at the time of doing it. Thats like making alcohol illegal and then arresting anyone who’s ever been to a bar in their life. If it was legal when they did it, there’s no reason for them to get banned.

        • I'm more worried about people who share accounts. Me and my friends for example, almost always play on our own accounts. But on extreme rare occasions, we'll play on each other's accounts to obtain something for someone when that person doesn't have time to play (for example, I was grinding gms for hours for a good palindrome. Never got one, had to work early in the morning. My friend hopped on my account to grind a little more for me when I went to bed). Or one of us hates pvp and someone else hates pve, so they'll play on each other's accounts to do something for them. Nothing paid, we're all life long IRL friends. Is this going to affect people like us? I'm hoping not, it's not a big deal, again we RARELY do it, but still a valid question I feel.

Win-trading exploit can be patched, but Bungie seems to not want to put any effort in patching it. Too many people have participated in win trading at one point in the past when cheating was unbearable and rampant on PC, so if bans are enforced on using this exploit, it should be for win-trading from the announcement forward. Unpopular opinion: account recovery, or playing on someone else's account should not warrant a permanent ban IF the person who played on that account played fair. Yes, the person playing on that account is probably high-skilled, but that alone should not be a reason to permanently ban the account. If you want to punish players for doing this, a more fitting punishment would be locked gear or activity restriction. Wiping away years of progress in a game because someone wants gear from crucible and lends their account to their friend or a pro is an unnecessarily high punishment which will just drive the player away from the game rather than purchase future software from Bungie. Nobody complains about account recovery for PvE content even though there are very difficult activities that warrant more time and practice invested into the game (apples and oranges, yet the goal either way is the gear not the glory). Permanent bans should be an option reserved for severe or repeated infractions. I understand Bungie wants to protect the integrity of the game, and most players want a fair environment. I hope Bungie maintains this fair environment and in cases that require punitive measures, hand out fair punishments.

            • Retroactively banning/suspensioning players is too much although I love to see bungie remove all gear that was earned via win trading specifically. Id laugh my -blam!- off if win traders lost all their gear from their 300+ 0 score win streak.

Yes. And it will be back behind a paywall. Each time they get banned it will cost them $40 if they want to play again. Not too mention the grinding. Any form of payment will get you banned. Money, subscriptions/follows, etc.

Please report them and include the video link. It is not illegal to do paid services, as long as you claim it on your taxes. However, win trading and ghost lobbies is cheating and bannable.

              • Why is it called account recovery? It's not as if the item being "recovered" belonged to the owner to begin with.

                        • recovering an account isn't against ToS. It's 2021, people are mobile and are able to play on their account anywhere, anytime. It's literally programmed into xbox, playstation, and other gaming devices to be able to log into your own gaming profile from anywhere. stop being dense.

                            • Recoveries are still gonna happen, I’ve never really cared in the first place. If someone really wants to drop 100s of dollars for some trials gear Then they can go do that. Waste of money considering to actually get anything good in terms of weapon and armor rolls they would have to drop 100s of dollars. Doesn’t affect me. But at the same time recoveries give lesss incentive to actually go out and grind therefor lowering the trials pooularion and increasing probability of sweatier match ups. I don’t care either way. I’m not for or against it.
