way too lazy to write a paragraph on why gambit ammo econ is not great, but while im at it, can the damage done to enemies be scaled up? i dont want to feel like im playing a nightfall when playing a playlist activity

I’ve played my share of gambit (2x guilded) and concur that the ammo drops are wildly inconsistent. Even with double finder double scav I will have some rounds where I don’t get a single heavy round the entire run And other runs where I have 6 purple bricks at 3 different spots on the map The ammo drops are one of the many bad experience parts of gambit. Maybe it’s just bad coding like adds in spire never drop any heavy ammo but adds in confluxes piss ammo all over the place during vog

Ehhh I'd say even with the ammo finder mods it still rng based I've had some matches where I was swimming in special and heavy bricks some where I got 1 heavy brick the whole match and that's it.
-
It's terrible

4 RepliesBungie tweaked the ammo a few years ago, mostly due to power ammo being too plentiful. So they reduced its cool down, but since then the ammo mods seem to not work as well in gambit compared to other pve activities. I believe bungie tweaked all forms of ammo generation in it to avoid more backlash from the gambit community,...If there still is one.

1 ReplyGophers are popping up and stealing your ammo!
-
I’m using 2 rocket finder mods 2 scavenger mods, well until season 15 and is it worth the 4 death bringer shots per game no, do I care also no dunemarchers yield to no one!
-
Worry not.. all primaries have infinite ammo now 😬
-
It's under the rug, with all the new pvp maps and so on
-
I tend to find heavy ammo, I wave at it as it gets flung off the map into the abyss. 👋

Edited by Quiet_Bushi: 8/19/2021 8:12:56 AMGambit Ammo economy has been a known issue since ever. Basically a Gambit Match can be decided simply by "which Team gets more Heavy Ammo first wins". Of course this is not always true; a good Invader can overturn the match, but generically speaking that's how it ends.
-
9 RepliesUse a scout. Not kidding. It generally is a good enough PvE weapon and is decent if defending or being an invader. And you don’t wanna use heavy.
-
3 RepliesI would like to know how I can go 8 games in a row without getting any heavy ammo to drop, yet the enemy invader can come over as much as he wants and bring a literally ammo depot worth of RL and Xeno every single time. Had this one guy come over and shoot 4 True Rockets. Then I invaded right after he left and he shot 2-3 more at me. Then he came over again not even 2 minutes later and fired off 5-6 more rockets. Granted he sucked major bum trying to get kills but how the heck do you restock that much that fast??

3 RepliesThe ammo economy is inconsistent. Bungie would have to reprogram the damage in PVE. Gambit is the only part of the game (aside from Contest mode activities) where enemies "auto-scale" to the power level of the player. That way you get a level playing field, and people can't just steamroll by over-leveling.
i dont want to feel like im playing a nightfall when playing a playlist activity
That doesn't sound like a damage issue. That sounds like a team coordination issue. I run into this quite a bit when I'm playing as a solo with either inexperienced players or with people who are just getting bounties done and aren't playing to win. The problem is that there is a "combat rhythm" in Gambit that you need to stay on as you rotate from one enemy spawn site to another. If the whole team stays on that rhythm you will kill mobs quickly and efficiently....and probably either jump into the lead or keep the match close. But when people fall off that rhythm, things go side ways. Especially if you try to KEEP to that rhythm. Because what will happen is you'll be the only person rotating over to take on the mobs on that side of the areana.... ...and you'll get what one former Destiny streamer used to call "solo aggro". IOW, EVERY mob on that side that is looking for targets and firing....will target YOU. So you'll get shot from multiple directions at once....and if you get caught out of cover, you'll get melted very quickly. Its tilting, because you'll feel (if you don't recognize what's happening) that you're playing poorly or that the enemies are overpowered. When the reality is that you're probably playing well, and are where you're supposed to be. But because of poor team coordination, you're getting slapped with fire intended for 4 players.....and there is no surviving that, while still playing with the level of aggression needed to win.

1 ReplyPretty epic how heavy ammo rng is a major factor in killing the boss. This might be my biggest problem with gambit but I have no idea how they would fix it tbh.
-
I always feel like I get more heavy ammo when my team is losing.
-
2 RepliesEdited by Kiro - 13: 8/18/2021 10:55:13 PMshort hand is: 1 in 41 kills for heavy bricks with no finder. 1 in 21 with 1, and 1 in 16 with 2. 1 in 16 for special with no finder, 12 for 1 finder, and 6-8 for 2. Their is minor variation/range but this is more or less the drop rate of ammo. It also resets the counter on death which is big(aka you die with 15 kills and 2 heavy ammo finders your reset back to square one). Please keep in mind ammo bricks that spawn from ammo finders are separate from naturally occurring/dropping ammo bricks. Additionally melee, finisher, & nade kills have a depreciated value towards building ammo drops and WMC kills negate ammo drops for you and your fire team(this was a stealth nerf that occurred with the release of BL). Now you know, and knowing is half the battle GI Joe.

Yeah agree, lately I feel like I’m playing a Nightfall instead of Gambit.
-
It falls through the map...... Just like the motes.....
-
I like Gambit, but its ammo economy is pretty bad.
-
Bro you're ammo drops are there; they just fell through the floor like the motes do XD
-
I never use finders , an low an behold I always got ammo
-
It's luck. Sometimes you'd be showered on them bricks pretty frequently, and some other times the rate at which they drop will be abysmal even if you have double scavenger.
-
4 RepliesAs an invader, I typically run double special weapons and EOT. While I do occasionally run out of ammo, I find that working out a good ability synergy helps a lot, i.e. insurmountable skullfort on a striker titan, and I also make use of advanced charged with light builds to consistently have my super many times per match. I also rely on my teammates using aeons to generate heavy. Unfortunately I'd say that honestly, if you're running out of special ammo in a game of gambit, you need to be more conscious of your ammo usage. Try to make the most of the ammo, go for the group of tier 1 adds with your grenade launcher rather than hitting the orange bar enemy 3 or 4 times.
-
Did you look under the rocks
-
It’s luck. I’ve had games where there are heavy and special bricks every where and I’ve had game with no ammo drops
-
So I’ve been noticing reduced ammo drop rates outside of Gambit as well. I ran strikes last night and I was running out of special constantly, with drop mods… could be bad luck but it was extremely consistent.
