Grinding in this game, compared to others just doesn’t feel worthwhile. It’s rather aggravating, more than anything.
For example, I had some free time today and decided to grind the dark priestess empire hunts for a Biting Winds with explosive head. That’s all I’ve been doing today. Of all the bows I collected today, 8 had Sympathetic Arsenal, 2 had Swashbuckler and 2 had the same roll of Surplus and a rangefinder. Ticked off, I decided to do one more, thinking my luck is bound to turn around at some point, right? No. Another one with Swashbuckler.
I like grinding for gear in games. But, I don’t seem to have this bad of a problem with duplicates as I do in Destiny 2. Today’s example isn’t the only time. For me at least, duplicates seem to be a way bigger problem than in previous seasons. I mean surely the odds of getting this many similar rolls this many times in a row should be slim, right? I mean I thought so at least.
Grinding in this game wouldn’t be so infuriating if the duplicates weren’t such an issue.
Maybe I’m just having bad luck. Is anyone else having duplicate issues like this?

3 RepliesTwo blues and a token. You’re welcome. -Bungie

Then just leave if you feel unrewarding

Then don’t. Take a break. Play other games. The bounty loot simulator hasn’t changed in years.

It depends on what I’m grinding for, I personally refuse to step into the normal strike playlist simply because of how boring it is. I’ve fallen asleep in the middle of strikes before lmao. If it’s something like general/high end pvp and gms I’ll more than likely have a good time.

9 RepliesEdited by arachnoman666: 8/17/2021 3:16:00 PMBungie has been using their grind as content for years. The constant LL grind broke me. They act like they did us a favor making only a 10 LL pinnacle grind except they just moved it to the artifact. Only to have it all reset at the end of a season. This is how they get away with not pushing out real content, they keep us busy on the hamster wheel.

3 RepliesHere's another kick to the Ghost as well. Engrams from seasons. I had a max 10 stuck in my inventory. Went to the Helm, and wanted to get a Chroma Rush (or at least a better roll). 50/50 chance between a Chroma Rush and the Ignition Code Grenade Launcher. So you'd think that I'd get half AR and GL, right? 9 GL and 1 AR. Just too frustrating. Here's to another season of Grinding 10 levels, not finding the right gear and fighting with the inventory limitations... sigh.

As much as I dislike the grind at times, I mean… let’s be fair. You went into this particular scenario with the intent of grinding for 1 specific item with 1 specific roll. Now be it as it may, you shouldn’t get that many duplicates, however, gambling is gambling… win some, lose many many more.

8 RepliesI want purposeful grind. Give use a vendor and you can select the weapon you want and select the perks you want on it and it builds you a bounty like pinnacle/ritual weapons have to get that gear. better than farming GM's for hours on end
-
2 RepliesOne more thing, Bungies "Vault" system is a complete mess, i wonder what they "smoked" before thinking that one up! Some real heavy stuff i imagine!

At this point I’m playing for lore. It’s sad bungie knows that’s why a lot of people still play so they won’t change anything. They don’t care as much as most people think. If they did, there wouldn’t be so much reskinned content, there wouldn’t be so many time gates, and their content drops would be bigger especially expansions. Bungie is lazy, and doesn’t care as long as you keep spending money on their bullshit season pass

1 ReplyI remember the time I played this game for loot and play hard activities with them. Now you must play this game to level up your artifact to play hard activities. Loot is not important now (sadly).

2 RepliesDestiny makes it tricky to get a good roll sometimes. The multifaceted RNG can make it feel like you’re getting nowhere with weapon grinding. I don’t think there’s any actual issues preventing you from getting you’re roll, I think it’s just unlucky RNG. Biting Winds only has 6 perks in the column with explosive tips, keep farming and you’re bound to get an acceptable roll eventually. Maybe spice up your farming by doing some gunsmith bounties or spare seasonal catalyst quests while you do it. Or you could alternate between activities to farm Biting Winds and another gun, that helps me not get burnt out as quickly. That and farming with another person, which also makes things a little faster too. If you need someone to farm with let me know, I wouldn’t mind trying for a few rolls on it. Either way good luck!

Even lost sectors , moon and especially dream city weapons and armor farming just wasting enermous time. Also iron banner token gamble is awful. We need to spend token for specific spend like end of the raids

13 RepliesI've tried several other MMORPGs lately and Destiny 2 is without a doubt, the most shallow grind out of all of them. -The activities are soooo repetitive. -The gear looks terrible (other than the reissued D1 weapons). -Even the story missions have ridiculously grindy quest steps. The fanboys refer to this grind as the Destiny weekly ritual. How delusionally devoted do you have to be to something like this, to refer to such a terrible grind as a ritual?

I 100% get this, for the first time in a very very long time I grinded our trials. I really wanted that adept smg with killing wind and kill clip. Or honestly just kill clip in general. Not only did I only get one semi-usable SMG I also got two EXACT duplicates and one that I almost dismantled immediately. Going through that much of a grind for a weapon like that, should at least have some sort of guaranteed roll on it. Sort of like the time lost ones. I know celerity is great and it’s all on the adepts, but celerity is only good on a few select weapons. The best one I got is currently equipped if any of you would want to check.

I’m really loving the story so far but If I’m going to sit here and tell you that I’m looking forward to upgrade a new artifact I’ll be lying. Im not looking toward that bs at all

Oh yeah and the fact that Bungie hasn’t released any fun repeatable content in months, VoG was nice for the first 4 or 5 but quickly just turned to “I just want vex” after that.
people are literally complaining about geomags getting nerfed, after complaining about it. Nice
Seems fine to me.

1 ReplyIt seems loot can get totally stuck in this game. I remember grinding for the dredgen title when it came out. I played solo, got all the triumphs done pretty quikly. Got the exotic, ship and sparrow aswell. Approx 200 games in. Had reset 3 times when it actually took a very long time and got the ghost. Then 300 games later, still no -blam!-ing auto rifle. It`s supposed to be a regular drop, i got it long after at random. But at that point i didnt give a flying -blam!- about the title.

D2 is that bargain bin item that looks nice, costs a dollar and is cheaply made. If you stand there and stare at it long enough, you'll probably just buy it only to throw it away a week later. That's what Bungie wants. They don't want an incredible industry defining game title, they want you buying more of less, for more money, more often. That's why the grind feels the way it does, all by design to get you bored and buying eververse items. Get off the hamster wheel. You'll thank yourself.
-
Yea and Bungie will just need anything you get use to or hold on to.
-
Ya, the dupes killed the grind. Now you see why it just isn’t worth it. After the existential crisis passes you might stop doing stuff that isn’t fun anymore. And a weird thing happens. When you do the things you think are fun, you have fun

Nope it's a 2nd job and unfortunately i do not have a Youtube or Twitch channel that pays me to do it!
