Malfeasance Needs More Range

Bungie whenever you go to make changes to Gambit, please give Malfeasance a catalyst and let it get more range. 140 and 120s have way way more range, please give it some love. Final Edit: In the Twab Bungie said "We're also looking at underused or underpowered Exotics, and will be taking a pass at some of them including Arbalest, Suros Regime, Cryosthesia 77K, Malfeasance, and more." Bungie knows! Lets GO!

    I disagree. More range increases it's maximum damage distance. Its already easy to get four-shot kills with Malfeasance, so increasing the effective range makes the perk pretty much useless on our current maps unless its against a super. I'd much rather have a bump to aim assist and handling.

      • It has infinite range though. 5 shots kill at ANY range in pvp or gambit. Tested it myself on the unknown space maps when they were still around. 11 dmg is the least you can do at sniper ranges....so 5x 11 is 55. Then 5 explosions for 35 damage each.

      • Landing 5 shots from long range is very fast and will often kill your target. The issue is the bloom. Some shots seem to "ghost" out and not register even when your sights are on them. If that gets fixed then the range wont even matter. Handcannons should never ever become Scout Rifles ever again. That was a shit meta.

          We need more *Taken* guns, exotic rifle that works like the needler rifle . Or Literally just make a needler SMG And maybe An *overcharge* sidearm

            • Range is fine.. explosions on 4 shots would be the ideal situation. 180s already kill within 4 shots as standard anyway so it wouldn't break the sandbox.

              • It just needs a catalyst. Either: - Precision kills or kills with explosive slugs causes enemies to explode, embedding slugs into them. Or - Slugs stuck in nearby enemies also trigger explosions. One would deal basically 0 damage like Le Monarque’s poison blast and apply 2 slugs per hit. Two would count all slugs in a small radius to count towards the explosions.

              • Unless it's been changed since Forsaken, it's catalyst is supposed to give +20 range. Though it technically has infinite range if only because of the explosions. I would prefer they give it more utility, it's a guaranteed 4-5 shot kill at most ranges, but there are a lot of times that ammo and stability are all it's got. If the enemy dies in less than 5 shots, one perk was useless, and while it's a huge buff against Taken and invaders, the other perk is useless otherwise. It's catalyst is also supposed to give a perk that causes a "bigger, more powerful explosion when enemies die to Explosive Shadow", meaning that is useless unless they survive every 5th shot and die to the following explosions. Here's what I would do: Change the perk on the catalyst to combine all shots on the target into that kind of explosion, allowing kills with the explosion to chain explosions like Sunshot. Change the anti-Taken/ Invader perk to also have either Vorpal or some form of Firing Line as well. Either reduce shots needed for ES by 1 and adjust damage accordingly or increase ROF by 10-20 RPM with the same adjustment.

                  Needs more damage too, 4-5 shots to get a kill when it only takes a 140 or a 120 3 shots to get a kill? Ridiculous. The gun needs an overhaul as well, its by far the best looking hand cannon in the game and the perk is just so garbage. Im not even a hand cannon person but man malfeasance would make me one to be a main if it was actually a viable weapon

                • I'd say handling and accuracy since it handles like a 120 and suffers from bloom pretty bad. No matter what is exotic perk makes it a 5 hit kill so you can out range most weapons in crucible.

                  It’s exotic perk let’s you finish off a guardian at any range. It does not need more or less It does, however, need some type of buff-perhaps a higher rpm?

                • No Malf needs to be changed or buffed completely. Right now i would argue that malf is one of the coolest, but also worst exotics in the game. Givng it more range is not the only issue. Its like its going through a midlife crisis, of waht it wants to be, and its trying to fill a role that is already filled by non exotics way better, as by the time you get 5 rounds into a target, it is already dead. IMO, this is what they need to do, to make malf worth taking -Still 5 slugs on explode. -Precision shots count at 2 slugs for the purpose of explosion -If you land 3 precision shots all 3 shots explode for the same as if you hit it 5 times normally. -Catalyst for it should give + range, and cause the explosions to stop unstoppable champs on top of it. Right now Malf has literally zero curb appeal as a weapon. There are better hand canons to deal with rank and file, there are better yellow weapon that deal with special. Malf is just not good.

                • it doesn't need more range... what This little gun needs is a Cata that gives it Rampage, Swashbuckler... or even better Frezy... something like Frenzys Bonus would be enough to help its poor Damage output against Orange and Yellowbars

                • It needs handling. It really doesn't need range since it's a 180. 2 head plus 2 body and if you need 5 bullets then it's a guaranteed kill. Range is always good on a handcannon, but since it's a 180, you don't need all crits. It needs handling. It really handles slow
