Edited by o_____________o: 8/21/2021 3:34:04 PMI don't think this is exclusive to pc gaming by any means. Very few multiplayer titles (regardless of platform) maintain active communities for years on end. Most dwindle within about 2 or 3 years. Edit: I didn't realize I'd already commented on this thread.
Alot of wasted money
To play console ports on pc ;p

The only real benefit i see to PC gaming is mods. Otherwise the only reason i would get into it is for old games they probably won't port or remaster, specific PC exclusives (i heard Disco Elysium is pretty damn fun) and RTSs, because realistically i know they aren't going to port the LOTR: Battle For Middle Earth games to new consoles any time soon, and most of the time RTSs are dumbed down for consoles anyway given the lack of key inputs available, hence why i'm reluctant to try out Civ 6 despite loving Civ Rev. I think there are a few cult gems that people still play online, like Quake or TF2 or whatever, but realistically the majority of people who play CoD will move with the times just like they do on console, so unless you're always buying the new one you may be disappointed with empty servers more than you think.

SWTOR...
Idk, I always wanted to play it, but my Mac doesn't have the storage for both Windows and the game
Play some indie games? Just be glad that whatever game youre playing actually has a population.
-
Those are some bad examples. Titanfall has been hit by a sophisticated hack that has essentially downed the servers for good. Same thing to a lesser extent with Titanfall 2 and Apex all because the hackers want control to be able to revive Titanfall Online. Unless the previous game is better than its sequels (BF4) people tend to move on to the next entry thus explains SW and BO4. That's not to say that player numbers can't be low anyway. There's so many more games on PC than console so players are more spread out. Realistically you want games that can be played both single player and multiplayer.

1 ReplyWhy would you specifically buy a PC to play old multiplatform games that have had more popular sequels released?
-
Yikes yeah don't invest in both obviously outdated AND garbage games at the same time. But soon you'll be efficient by not paying for gated internet access anyways. Steam currently has a QuakeCon and a indie retro shooter sale with a lot of gems for very cheap.

At one point I wanted a gaming PC (back around 2015ish) but more and more I started to think "even if I get a PC, what am I gonna use it for? There's really no games I wanna play that's PC exclusive, just mainly VR" But after finding out about Oculus and it not needing a pc to play, I decided to not get a PC lol
-
You can really only get popular games or older ones that have a loyal fanbase
-
Like abe said it seems like a you problem getting a pc when these games have been dead for awhile Warzone never really had a true fanbase to begin with just a bunch of kids following the streamers from one game to another
-
Honestly, I'll be getting a gaming PC sometime in the future, but its gonna be mostly for stuff like Total War and whatnot. My Xbox will still see a fair bit of use tbh.
-
10 RepliesStarcraft 2 isn't dead, but you will have your clock cleaned.
-
2 RepliesOlder shooters are less active due to those communities being a plague of insatiable locusts that just migrate from one to the next, consuming all the content they can and leaving a toxic wasteland in their wake.

If you're looking for something good to play on PC, then play GTFO
