Idk why it isn’t an option like it was in d1. Just a simple arc fusion can now be found as a void too. Or we can make it like the start of d2 and we can change the element ourselves for a cost (personally I think it should be a combination of both). To me this would somewhat mitigate the feeling of how little loot there is in this game because of sunsetting, at least a little bit.
If we wanted to be more outlandish we could make it to where they could also roll as kinetic in the loot pool and to balance that we make it to where you can’t have 2 of the same gun equipped. To keep pinnacles in line just make them static and unchangeable. And of course, exotics cannot change no matter what. Heavies can only change burns, no kinetic. Single fire grenade launchers (maybe these can be kinetic but Idk how exactly that’d be balanced) and fusions also can only roll burns, not kinetic.
Imagine the fun of using what you want at any time. Like I could use a messenger (already kinetic) alongside a solar praedyths revenge. Maybe I can use a void hung jury with a heritage (kinetic). It just gives more of what I can do.
I seriously don’t see how a change to let us have weapons roll with different elements including kinetic would be bad. It just spices up loadouts, sorta gives more loot to the game, let’s me use my favorite primaries with my favorite secondaries, and gives more incentive to go out and get multiples of a gun. Bungie pls, I beg of thee, allow for more loot.

Switching element types should come back but crossing over slots? No, definitely not. Im for energy and power weapons having the elemental choice though. I'd also like to see MW rerolling come back. Otherwise all we need is actual weapon smithing through the gunsmith.
-
Everything would be void, the best builds in destiny comes from void stuff.

We used to have mods that could change the elements for both special and heavy weapons. But you couldn't change the weapons' mods during nf where weapons and gears were locked. It also cost to buy mods to change the weapons' elements. I missed those days. It also add a bit more a challenge in pvp cuz players would change the elements of some popular weapons while some had to change the element of their gears to add the resistance perk to reduce slight damage from different elemental weapons.

The problem with this is it is ultimately unhealthy for the loot chase of the game. Switching between kinetic and energy would just mean each weapon type has a best in slot for 2 slots; less unique and powerful loot worth farming for in those slots then. Swapping between energy elements is ultimately less offensive, but still: right now if bungie wants to release a great weapon, say, a Rangefinder/Frenzy energy auto rifle, they can drop that perk combination 3 times (one in each element) and spread that out over 3 different activities, making 3 activities worth farming all of a sudden. If any weapon can drop in any element, that suddenly drops down to 1. Ultimately bad for the game

During Y1 I had arc, solar, and void versions of lots of weapons including Manannan SR4, Conspirator, Ikelos Shotgun, Ikelos SMG, Ikelos sniper (there were more but I forgot)

When D2 originally launched, weapons dropped a random element. The player base complained, so Bungie later allowed you to manipulate the element. The problem, as Bungie saw it, was that once you had three rolls for the same weapon, you stopped grinding. Bungie's goal is to trickle any and all content to keep you playing an entire season. In D1 when there was more than three months between content, people consumed everything in a week, then left the game for months at a time. Now, Bungie incorporated season passes and time-gated content to keep us playing.

Once upon a time ago during the doubleprimaryand static roll era, you could change the element. obviously bungie nerfed it.
-
We could switch elements back in d2y1 then bungie removed it.

Would love this idea

7 RepliesI think they did this to limit a weapons ability, so you can't rely on a single weapon for every build

4 RepliesIt was never an option in D1 my guy. But yeah it would be cool
