Old player from D1, doesn't seem to import my character to 2
Sorry if this is in the wrong place for this.
I played destiny 1 back when it first released, but ended up dropping it around when pvp playlists started being gated off by dlc I couldn't afford, around 2015 I think.
Today I decided to try destiny 2 after some friends were talking about, and dusted off the old xbox 1 I played the first game on, to find the game prompting me to make a new character. I've looked over the import conditions a couple times, and unless it's just been too long for my old character to be moved over or that I needed to own the dlc for 1, I can't figure out what's wrong. Is there anything I can do or should I just make a new character?

All characters the met the criteria were automatically transferred back at launch of d2. If your game is telling you to create a new character without the option of using the old one, then unfortunately that is your only option.
