Title.
I've been having a rough time trying to use bows in PvP. And yet I'm adamant about doing it because I love them so much. Any tips on how to better use them?

Hang out around corners and teammates, use cover while drawing and try to engage at the exact same time as your team for some ridiculously quick kills Le Monarque is good for starting out if you don't want to grind anything, but if you do feel the need, Biting Winds with Swashbuckler is probably the best bow in the game Doing a mod set up with High Energy Fire is also recommended, allows one taps. Targeting mods are helpful as well

You're going to have the best success with you bow by switching to your alternative weapon

Quick swap weapons for easy kills

1 ReplyHit them in the knee.

2 RepliesAny raid bow is worth a peek. Run a side arm or a hand Cannon as ez clean up

Try Le Monarque, Hunter with Foetracer(exotic helmet). I haven’t tried it yet but it’s on my to do list.

Edited by Infamous067: 8/10/2021 4:14:31 PMOnly bow worth using in pvp is le monarque, the secret to using any or all bows in destiny is keeping your distance. Seriously, if there is a ping on that radar of yours, you are already too close. Bows are multipurpose. You can stay near your team but stay behind them to team shoot effectively or you can stay far back in the maps and use them like a scout rifle to deal a ton of damage. Bows are best used in big open maps and areas because you gotta be able to land a second shot before the enemy slides to cover. The other way to use bows is pairing it with the hand cannon combo. You gotta use any hard hitting bow, equip the swap mod on the bow and you simply land a headshot or body shot and immediately switch to your hand cannon to finish the person off. The combo is really frustrating to go against but its effective. Using le monarque for the swap combo only works if you have the warlock gauntlet exotic or the hunter boots that grant insane hand cannon handling and accuracy. you can also land a body shot followed by a melee but I highly advice against that, you will 90% of he time die to a shotgun. All of this is assuming you are using a slow fire bow, if you decide to use the lightweight bows then thats a whole different story. The lightweight bows are a lot tougher to use but definitely more fast paced. They are far less forgiving and you cant body shot melee so you really gotta know how to use them. Fast fire bows don’t work well with swap combos so your only option is to peek shoot near walls and you definitely need to team shoot as often as you can to benefit the most. The only good thing about fast fire bows is they can go toe to toe with other primaries but you need the god roll which is archers tempo and either snapshot/rampage with a reduced charge time from the perk or mod of at least 500. Hope this helps! I used to main bows for a while but they just aren’t good especially after 120’s got buffed. Its near impossible to consistently land shots with bows when you are getting flinched like crazy by a 120. Bows are all really good on pve though so go ham on pve

2 RepliesFor me, Le Monarque is only bow worth using in PvP. You can have success with other but I’ve found this to be the best. Try and get use to timing the perfect draw (I’m a hunter on oathkeepers but I see you play warlock). I’d then pair it with a sidearm or smg to clean up and the exotic arms warlocks get to quick swap. (A kill clip iron banner smg would be good). Then just practise peak shooting and hitting head shots.

Edited by TheArtist: 8/10/2021 5:23:44 PM1. Team shoot. A bow is perfect for picking off targets that are weak from duels with team mates. or to quickly down players you're team shooting. 2. Peak-and-shoot in 1v1s. Fighting out in the open with a bow is a good way to get yourself killed. Most other primaries have a much faster TTK. 3. Stick close to cover. 4. Any bow is usable. But if you want to save your exotic slot for something else, Try to use one with explosive rounds. It hits like a truck and makes it hard for your target to fight back with any sort of precision weapon because of the massive flinch.

Yes. Dont...😂😂😂 Bows are close to useless. But if you really want to use 1. Pre draw around a corner and peekshot.

% Oathkeeper exotic for hunter and Le Monarque. Watch lanes and peeks for someone to show their head. Cracked combo (very underused) is Le Monarque +Hand Cannon with Oathkeepers: Land precision bow hit Immediately swap to hc. If u hit the headshot with the bow, hc should only take one body shot to kill. Insta hate mail. %

Edited by Sweet Lew 88: 8/10/2021 12:14:18 AMBest tip, use oath keepers. It's like using a bow on easy mode. Le monarch or that arc bow are pretty good. Check a YouTube guide?

Depends on the map, depends on your existing skills in PvP, and depends on the bow and/or bow's roll. If you already have the skills, then it's ultimately down to practice and knowing which bow and rolls work best with your game play. In many cases, there's no one shot answer for this. Have you tried diff bows out? What works for others may not work for you. Try different bows, try pre-loading in sniper lanes, or around corners, or even when you see that dot on your radar.

Use a precision if you just want to use a bow purely and use a lightweight for combos
-
Use a Precision frame bow with a high Accuracy
-
Always use cover and peak shoot. You’ll very rarely win a head on duel using a bow.
