I remember back when one eyed mask marked enemies, everyone complained that "wall hacks" or "free information" had no place in the crucible. Yet right now I've encountered many players using wish ender to get wall hacks or hunters with spectral blade so they have flawless execution which gives you literal wall hacks. But both of these things are ok and no one is complaining or starting threads or posts to have them removed from at least competitive modes, because remember when OEM gave you "wall hacks most people said that had no place being in the crucible.
Made this post to see if people are really being honest in wanting crucible "wall hack" or "free information" free or if it was only because OEM is a titan exotic.

It’s been nerfed and is still one of the best exotics in the game.

I personally don't like any Wall Hack style abilities in the game. But none of the current ways to do it really hold a candle to how absolutely free OEM was Flawless Execution requires a crouching headshot kill, Khepri's Sting requires your melee charge, and Wish Ender requires you to use Wish Ender. All require something of the player that isn't something you'd be doing anyway. But on principle, I think they could all go away Meanwhile OEM was no resource required and was unavoidable. It gave you the upper hand in pretty much every engagement, whether through information on where a target went after disengaging or when/where they would repeek. Then following that duel you would have full health, overshield, and a damage buff going into your next fight. It was literally all that and the kitchen sink, not even mentioning that it worked with your Super initially In short, wouldn't miss any of the current Wall Hacks if they went, but they aren't anywhere near the overall oppressiveness of OEM

Edited by iKARUS: 8/7/2021 4:56:58 PMOem problem was all of the utility combined into one exotic. It was like having 2 hunter exotics and 1 warlock exotic at the same time. Thats why it got touched not just flat out the tracker itself. Honestly i heard more of an issue with how much overshield and healing u got rather than the tracker. Hunters have foetracer which has a wall hack tracker and even boosts damage to critically wounded enemies. But. U dont see it being used basically anywhere. So. Point made on that part. And wishender is an exotic. Which honestly. Before the bug fix it was a headache but its annoying at best now. If u know its equipped. Be cautious of prefiring. Wait out a grenade or a barrier. Make them fight in the open. Etc etc. I have a worse headache foghting arbalest still

Edited by michael: 8/7/2021 6:26:03 PMOne eyed mask was a problem because it was a passive buff that could not be avoided. In an fps game you are going to be shooting people, an ability that gives you wallhacks for being shot at literally makes no sense. It was way too big of a buff that you would always have. You could not avoid giving it to someone. Flawless execution is 3 seconds and you have to get a kill under a certain condition in order to get it, and wish ender is a bow... yes wallhacks are annoying and dont belong in an fps but these things are not worth complaining about. Neither of these are as oppressive as one eyed mask.

2 RepliesWish-Ender can’t see across vast distances, requires you to use your kinetic slot and an exotic, and it has (pardon my pun) a lot of drawbacks. Other wall hack abilities may be irritating but they’re only good in certain situations. What pisses me off is that Warlocks had a wall hack and they decided that it was Too OP and changed the whole exotic. All they had to do was tweak it a bit.

Edited by Guardian2591: 8/7/2021 4:51:38 PMI can sort of see thru walls with Foetracer. You get marked with Vengeance which allows me to see you

4 RepliesEdited by Ghostfire239: 8/7/2021 5:27:37 AMYou have to get a crouched headshot kill to get said wall hacks from flawless execution. That influences your loadout choice and your playstyle (and possibly your controller set up) just to benefit from it consistently. You didn’t have to do anything to track people with OEM. You got wallhacks as soon as someone damaged you (even a little). No loadout change needed, no playstyle change needed, and was available on any subclass path (and definitely no control set up changes needed). To keep it simple, you have to earn flawless execution’s wall hacks, whereas OEM’s wall hacks were just given to you. The reason why people had such a big issue with OEM was because is did so many things in a single perk. Tracking, over shields, increased damage and health regeneration. As for Wish Enders. People don’t talk about because it just hasn’t ever been good. No one really uses it, so it hasn’t really ever been a topic of discussion.
I was still against the removal of OEM wall hacks. I think they could have just given it the Foetracer treatment, where wall hacks was the main perk but the secondary effect (the vengeful perk) wasn’t as effective, similar to how Foetracer is.
2 RepliesOEM was op pre-nerf.. tracking on a player that damaged them and if they killed that player it granted them with increased damage, instant full health, and an overshield... "yum crayons" - OP 2021

2 RepliesBoth of those things you have to sacrifice for the true sight. For wish ender its a primary and exotic slot, and you can only see in a small area of the screen where you aim. For middle void hunter, it’s the subclass that isn’t the best when compared to others, and you have to get a precision kill while crouched. It’s not as free as OEM was when you just had to take damage

2 RepliesEdited by Spicy Water: 8/7/2021 2:42:29 PMWishender is a meh at best Bow that takes up an exotic slot for wallhacks after getting a kill and nothing else OEM (pre nerf) uses an exotic slot for wallhacks AND regen AND an overshield AND a damage boost (I think????? Admittedly I haven’t used it much even before it was nerfed, I could be off on that) Edit: Almost forgot to mention that OEM doesn’t even require getting a kill to activate it’s wallhack perk
