I'm asking this here since there doesn't seem to be a way to contact Bungie directly on the matter. Feel free to correct me though.
As a day one veteran with over 4k hours in both d1 and d2 combined... i'll be blunt, my guardian would not turn to the darkness and accept it so easily. Especially for this second-rate, usurper to the name Kell of Kells. I skipped Beyond Light because I would not turn to the Darkness. I was wondering if there is going to be an option in Which Queen, the following seasons, and the next next expansion for guardians who chose to stay pure to the Light?
I rose in the Cosmodrome. Dazed and confused I faced down Eliksni after Eliksni and made my way to the Last City. I met the Speaker there, someone who admittedly didn't quell my fears much. But someone who kindled hope in my heart and a fire that burned hotter than the sun that shone above. I wanted to hear the stories that frighten the children of the Last City. I wanted to fight and protect humanity from extinction, from a cold, undignified death at the hands of the Darkness. I wanted to protect what little humanity had left because that's what I was, a Guardian and a wielder of the Light.
My light did not falter when facing down The Heart of Darkness, something only thought to be a legend. (A legend we apparently had heard about, yet we get the grimoire card of it after hearing about it)
My light did not falter when facing down Atheon, master of The Vault of Glass, able to rewrite time itself with little effort.
My light did not falter when facing down Crota, Son of Oryx and slayer of dozens of guardians, their light still clinging to his sword after all these years.
My light did not falter when facing down Skolas, Kell of Kells. One who fought to reunite the Eliksni houses and finally take back the traveler for themselves. (I do have to remind you that the only reason the Last City survived the battle of Twilight Gap was because Mara Sov, queen of the awoken and at the time Kell of the House of Wolves, stopped the house of wolves from attacking with the rest)
My light did not falter when facing down the might of Siva, which slew hundreds of Lords of Iron, forcing the TWO that remained into a sort of exile after their bitter, temporary victory.
My light did not falter when facing down Oryx, Taken King, able to take the will of seemingly anything in the universe for his own personal army. One who stood against the Light and the Traveler since the beginning(Millions of years at this point) (Also arguably the strongest of the three Sisters as he slew the other two(only for them to rise again at a later time))
Even when my Light was stripped of me, I kept faith and it found it's way back to me, in turn allowing it to find its way back to a new generation of guardians.
My light did not faulter when facing down Panotes, vex thing.
My light did not faulter when facing down Xol, One of the five Worm Gods of the Hive.
When my friend and mentor Cayde-6 was murdered by Uldren Sov, my Light shone brighter than it had ever before. I put Uldren down and killed the last of the Ahamkara. (Our Guardians need a new hunter vanguard and I believe the position is still vacant. It's been empty for longer now than it was before Andal Brask lost the vanguard dare :P)
I couldn't even tell you who the Big Bad was of Shadowkeep. If I'm remembering correctly it was The Darkness in general.
Shadowkeep was about where I left Destiny 2. Season passes are really a turnoff for me, especially in my favorite game in franchise. I played a few seasons here and there, but these passes are content for content's sake, there is no heart, no love in that. I will take the lack of content over years for larger expansions compared to that.
I wanted to wait for the new expansion, Beyond Light, to come out before deciding whether or not to get it for myself and get back into Destiny 2 properly. Darkness subclasses were cool and all. I have nothing against them at all! If you want to play with the shiny new toys and wield the power of our enemies or whatever then go right ahead. What isn't ok is forcing it onto us in the manner you did. There is no choice, no player agency, and you shit on the fallen once again. Bringing back the Exo Stranger after all this time is perplexing to me. She is a person who doesn't even have time to explain why they don't have time to explain, yet they want us to be friends and tempt us with the power of the Darkness, something that we so very easily accept and something that we are so very easily able to control along side the Light. This in itself raises about a hundred questions, none of which anyone with any sort of agency over the story of Destiny 2 has even thought about or explored in any way.
The Fallen now stand as one house, united at last! That house is called Dusk. One house with one goal, the thing that the Last City fears the most because it will not survive another attack with the fallen at their maximum strength. The only issue is that this goal the house of Dusk has is to prevent the Eliksni from going extinct. We as guardians have curb stomped every single advance the Fallen have made for seven years now to the point that we are driving them to extinction. We continue to genocide a species that at this point merely wants to survive. "-blam!- reclaiming the traveler and -blam!- humans, I just want to survive another day!".
I finally get to the point of all this. After all this time. Why would Eramis, Usurper to the name Kell of Kells, make us turn to the Darkness. She wields the power of the darkness right? I'll have to remind you that so... SO many of our other foes have done so as well.
I am not afraid. I will stand with the Light as I have done for nearly a decade now. Even as the shadows might grow I will rise to face them as I have done for nearly a decade now. To my last breath I will stand as a Guardian, wielder of the Light and defender of the last bastion of hope to humanity.
I will not turn to the Darkness.

You are talking about your guardian like its a real person....weird

3 RepliesEdited by Ferus Lux: 7/31/2021 9:58:44 PMDarkness is not evil. It is competitive and primal which leads to the weak minded losing control. The Traveler made the light weak on purpose so Guardians would rely on each other more and understand the fragility of life. Calling Darkness evil would be calling guns evil instead of the one pulling the trigger. The Darkness doesnt require a Ghost. Its about relying on no one, just your own strength. Imagine a world where Humanity has both cooperation and individual strength. That is a world where we do more than survive. One where we win. Don't be a prude. Be victorious. Do Darkness. Ask your Stranger about Stasis today. Now leasing Dark Splinters for as low as 777 glimmer a month.

Imagine not using the darkness. Imagine serving the sky disco ball and not the space doritos.

Outside….. grass…. Sun

1 ReplyBoth Guardians that abandon the Light and those that reject the Darkness are doomed to fall. It's only through harmonizing both that humanity will survive, though I wish Beyond Light was a bit better with how we were adapting to Stasis.
-
Ppl always forgetting about aksis, siva and rise of iron, just don’t use stasis other than when your required to use it, kinda silly not to play the game just for that specific reason imo
-
1 ReplyHaha stasis go brrr
-
Wow a wall of text just to say you think you're "pure of light"...
-
I used the darkness for a bit, wasn't fun and was just boring. I use and will always use tether. If any story was written about me? It would be along the lines of, this guardian has commited genocide against the darkness with his light. If you are near him and see a large group of enemies... Sit back, watch the chaos and when done? Feed on the orbs to get your supers.

so basically what I’m getting from this is you want your Destiny fanfiction in-game. Sorry, not happening bud.
-
That's a lot of words to say "I have an entire fanfic written about my guardian, and ackchually, in my headcanon, they would NEVER turn Dark, so can Bungie cater to my fanfic pls?" In the canon story, we use Darkness. In the canon story, we will only ever see the consequences of that. No, there will not be a separate story for pure-light guardians, because that would mean some players would be living an alternate timeline version of the events of the story. They would have to make two completely separate stories for that, one for pure-lights and one for Dark users. And that's too much hassle to satisfy the 4% of basement dwellers that refuse to break from their half-baked fanfictions long enough to play the full game.

1 ReplyOnly read the first bit but just had to comment about the “easily accepting dark ess” part. IMO that is the single buggest story telling flop Bungie has ever done. So incredibly lazy and boring. “You know abiut the darkness right? That thing weve been worried about forever and is one of our biggest threats ever? Well good news. You can go spank a shard on the ass and master it with no issues. In fact we are gonna make you use it to beat these mission even though it doesnt make logical sense”
-
1 ReplyI think you’ve given this way too much thought. You need to remind yourself what the sun feels like on your face.
-
Cringe.

Why fight your enemy when you can give them the power to destroy themselves. That's what the darkness is. The Vanguard is against the use of stasis, for good reasons. The character dialogue says it causing problems. I'm not against stasis cause it's dark or evil. I don't like it cause it's terrible. Poor design, bad sound and visual effects, clutters the environment with ice. It's awful. I will delete my characters and create new ones that will be stasis free.

Your dumbas s
-
Damn I thought it was just a game with shooty bits in it
-
Bungie will never add two stories for light and dark There’s also nothing wrong with darkness It’s the user that defines it
-
I really doubt it. I stopped playing D2 Y1 because I hated the story and the player character decisions made no sense to me. I still hate Calus and have no idea why we ever helped him, but in the lore I technically did. The D2 Y1 raids are still the worst ever raids story wise
-
They would..because that is the story.
