I've played Destiny since Christmas of year 1, and bought every expansion since. I won't spend any more money on this game. Why?
Its not because PVE isn't great. Things seem to be getting better in all areas.
Its not because the game has no story. The story is getting better and better and the voice acting this season was terrific.
I could go on for some time about the good things Bungie are doing.
BUT
PVP is unplayable. I'm just not good enough. Every game I get obliterated. My stats for the last session. 4 matches, 7 kills, 0.28kd.
In one of these matches I got 3 kills. The top 2 players on the other side got 35 kills and 30 kills. The 30 kill guy has an elo of 2400, my elo is 530. The next match we get re-matched!!!
Frankly this is ridiculous, bordering on abusive, and it has been going on for far too long.
The solution is extremely simple. Let guardians choose which matchmaking algorithm they want to use. A player like myself would choose SBMM and be matched against my peers (not that any of them are playing PVP anymore). Better players can choose CBMM. You don't have to split playlists or do anything else.
Bungie treat your guardians with respect, even the less talented ones. Give us a place to have fun playing PVP. Let us choose who we want to play against. Lets increase the PVP population and allow less talented guardians to have fun, and have a place to improve.

Matchmaking has been terrible for a long time now, I guess it's too difficult to fix? Hard to enjoy when most games are blowouts. I find myself quitting games too often
-
2 RepliesI'll buy it just so I can hate it in detail.
-
4 RepliesImagine not buying a PVE expansion because pvp is bad 😂 Just remember that when you dont have the new subclass and others do and then you complain about that.
-
3 RepliesI screen shot your name. Why? Because I’m 95% certain that I’ll see you complain about the witch queen after it is released.
-
Why I will buy Witch Queen: Cause at this point I will buy all of them. Oh well
-
For me personally. With age my reaction is getting slower. It's fast paced pvp. When I was in my early 20s I use to play alot of cod. Never had problems. Now I can only really play hardcore mode in cod. In destiny I need momentum. This is an area bungie needs to look into if they consider they consider themselves all inclusive. Bungie need to keep what's there for younger people of course.
-
I used to be a pvp only player. in the last several months, i have played 15 or less total matches of pvp and have enjoyed the game as a whole SIGNIFICANTLY more
-
I won’t buy it, regardless. I have decided to just play what I already paid for and some of the free stuff. Bungie lost me as a paying customer
-
Then dont play PvP in a PvE game
-
Witch Queen is going to be mostly PvE content anyways. If you’re so concerned about PvP, perhaps you should purchase a game that revolves entirely around PvP.
-
Lol i javent bought beyond light cuz i knew it woulda been bad dissapointed thankfully i dont have to pay for that crap with gamepass will not buy witch crap either its prob gonna be dissapointing again
-
1 ReplyYou will buy it anyway.
-
As someone who couldn’t care less about PvP, I’m gonna buy the eff out of it.
-
4 RepliesSo you won't buy a major PvE DLC because of PvP(a side mode ) is bad? I hate PvP too,I play it to complete quest /weeklies and it doesn't make me hate the game overall
-
1 ReplySo, lemme get this straight. You are a pve main, who loves the pve content, complaining about pvp in a pve-centric game that you enjoy, and threatening to quit said game because of the worthless pvp side? Why? Just play pvp as minimally as possible and enjoy the game your way. That’s what I do. It’s simple.
-
Go play Halo. Destiny PvP has been a joke since TTK.
-
Just load into the competitive playlist. It has SBMM.

2 RepliesAre you on a next gen console? That matters. I’m on series S and it’s brutal. A buddy told me he thinks next gen Xbox has the toughest matchmaking of any platform now, including pc, and I believe it. My numbers dropped significantly once I went to series s from ps4. Further, the population is so low, and so segregated, that it can’t really support any kind of matchmaking now, skill based or otherwise. You have stadia, steam, old gen Xbox, next gen Xbox, old gen PlayStation and next gen PlayStation. That’s a lot of fragmentation for an already small player base. Crossplay will help, but I agree, a return to sbmm in pubs would be best. Most major shooters use this — destiny is the outlier. And to those who say sbmm was laggy, I’m still seeing just as much lag with CBMM, sometimes even more. So if there’s going to be lag no matter what, might as well make it skill based.

22 RepliesWith a K/D that low, even SBMM wouldn’t help you that much.

For the life of me I can’t understand why Bungie think players like ourselves will hang around. I for instance have just returned after about 18 months away from the game. I had the time away because frustration with a game I once loved had set in. Frustration with having to try and compete with far superior skilled players. Players whom I have no real right to be trying to compete against. For the “git gud” guardians, I do know my limitations, and any improvements are only minor. I will never be able to match it with the top half of the existing lobbies. But now I’m back……and guess what, it’s almost worse. So I will probably play for a few more weeks and once frustration sets in again……give it away for good. Unless of course miraculously Bungie do as you have suggested and allow players to choose a SBMM or CBMM system.. Maybe if similarly skilled players had a louder voice.?
