A month ago someone broken into my car trying to steal it but they couldn’t now i can’t even put the key in all the way because the person really -blam!-ed up the ignition switch. I gotta get the car towed in a few days only problem is getting it out the parking lot since i live in a apartment complex.

I second what Badger said below. Any reputable towing service will have tire dollies for just these situations. Just make sure you tell them before they show up so they bring them.

With a hammer and a crowbar.

2 RepliesReplacing the ignition switch would be easiest. Should be no more than a few screws/ bolts and a couple terminations. Maybe a harness depending on how new your car is. May also have to program a new key, but that is usually as simple as turning the key a few times and stepping on pedals in the correct order. Don’t pay a dealership $150 to do a 2 minute job programming keys. If you have an old hulk and the ignition is already hooped you could just do the ol’ flat screwdriver and 2 1/2lbs sledge job (which is what the attempted thief did already by the sounds of it), but I only recommend that as an ultimate last resort deal.

2 RepliesExplain the situation to the towing company. With the right kind of tow truck it shoudln't be a problem, as long as you can put the car in neutral.

The towing company will handle it. They'll most likely drag it until it's out of the parking spot, then be able to hook it up it transport it. It sounds disturbing, but just part of what they'll have to do. Sorry for your trouble. Theives suck.
