Returning player trying to level up. Feeling stuck....
Hey ppl, been a bit since I played. Logged in I was at 1100 power level. Grabbed vanguard, solstice and banshee bounties. Get em done rinse and repeat. I seem to be stuck in the 1260ish area. I just want to do Nightfalls and dont ever remember it being this tedious to level up. Am I doing something wrong?
Is there a preferred way to level up from where I am at? Appreciate any suggestions!

1 ReplyI hit a brick wall at 1310 gear score. Every power reward is 1310. Pinnacles occasionally go up to 1311, but usually stay 1310. I played at 1310 gear score for 3 hrs last night without a single increase.

Soft cap is 1300 now? Any activity should grant you higher power until the cap I think.

Start with the Tower: Gunsmith is easiest, just do bounties Vanguard strikes takes three strikes so next easiest Vanguard and Gambit bounties are relatively simple, and crucible if you’re into that. If you’re in a clan your XP gains will net an engram. Then start checking out destinations and seasonal activities: Splicer Servitor at the HELM has bounties and you can run the activity 3x for an engram Europa has some stuff going on for a few pinnacles if you unlocked it The moon and dreaming city still have engrams to earn And lastly you can always grind the seasonal artifact for extra power increases. Those are my casual sources for engrams, of course you can do raids and dungeons and nightfalls and stuff too for more, but if you’re coming back solo, try the above.

Edited by CannyJack: 7/22/2021 12:43:53 AMJust did the same - you have to do all the 8-bounty milestones and all the “Pinnacle Gear” things (eg three strikes matching the burn). Do it in each character, and swap your weapons around to slingshot the second and third characters. I came back in mid-June and got to 1327 or so on each character (including the artifact), but it’s a hell of a grind. Note that I am on vacation and could no life it. I won’t make 1335+ by season end, I think.

1260 is soft cap. Need to do powerful and pinnacle challenges to level up further.

Pinnacles. They are all over if you are financially up to date with the game. Seasonal pinnacles (2), nf(2), strikes (1) PvP (1) gambit (1), hawkmoon weekly (1), dmt weekly (1), two dungeons (2), two raids (multiple), Europa (2)… After that you can farm the featured lost sectors for exotics that reward pinnacle exotics. Also comp(I never do comp, but all the power grind sherpas do comp first when a new season/dlc drops)

When you plateau with character one, transfer your weapons to character 2 and top that one off. Do for character 3 then go back to character 1.

Should have stayed away. Cause I could have told you since I haven’t been playing getting to the hard cap is more difficult than it should be. Your not doing anything wrong. You just have to have a team to play the game. If you’re soloing your not going to get far. Like someone said. Only powerful engrams and the occasional exotic will get you were you need to be. So basically only play after resets unless you a masochist and play pvp till reset. Cause at that point once your done with pve gameplay and three matches of gambit and crucible the only thing left to do is pvp and nothing else. An I’m minusing raids and other things that have powerful engrams as a reward.

4 RepliesI believe 1250 is the soft cap, which means only Prime engrams and Powerful Rewards level you up. 1310 is the hard cap. Once you hit that, only activities that grant Pinnacle Rewards will level you up. The issue is that you started at 1100, so you're trying to grind 220 levels in one season.

Soft cap was 1260 any blue and random world legendaries get you there, to get over it get powerful engrams, you get them randomly or by doing the weekly 8 bounty challenges from respective vendors, regular match made nightfall, and certain missions it should get you to 1310, the artifact should help you a lot to. To get over 1310 you gotta get pinnacles which mean master nightfall, raids, weekly expunge, and the 3 game competition from select activities

You probably already know this, but blue rarity gear cap at a certain power level, and powerful engrams cap too, but higher, and pinnacle gear cap at the highest, so aim for pinnacles and powerful gear. Also do any campaigns you havent already done (Sorry if this is bad info, im not the best d2 player)

Now you need to work on powerful and pinnacle drops, see the destination page. Maybe look at a guide if you want to level as quickly as possible.
