You have a player base that wants harder content, myself included.
Now you take this hard content and don't cap it, inherently making it easier for the same people who wanted hard content. Can you see why this activity doesn't make sense to a lot of people?
People are bored of grinding exp, doing bounties, etc. Artificial content burns people out.
You've proven you can do level caps, so why are we making hard content easy for the people that want hard content? Lol
Ntm lfgs won't wake people below 1340.

15 RepliesVOG master is the worst raid in destiny history. I would rather run 10 GMs in a given week than do one master challenge. It’s just not fun.

3 RepliesEdited by Atreuss: 7/12/2021 6:28:40 AMThey need to get rid of the insane amount of power levels people can grind. I think leader board lists someone at 1384. There is no reason for this. I mean 24 hours a day afk in the dungeon relic grinding. Wtf bungie...... Cap power at the 20 plus on the relic so nobody gets higher than 1340. Or just get rid of relic power level grinding. Leaving an open relic power is the worst thing bungie could have done especially with power advantage enabled activities. Build activties around the power cap so everyone can participate and not be left out of at least attempting them each season unless you no life destiny 24/7. Even people that put a reasonable amount of time don't ever reach seasonal cap because of the awful bounty grind. Oh and why do we even have a master mode activity at 1350 that doesn't even drop 1350 weapons? Makes no sense. No end game activity should be higher that the level of gear it can drop.

1 ReplyDon't you feel like using power level to artificially increase difficulty is kind of a cop out though? I don't care either way, raiding is boring af but it seems like power capping pales in comparison to adding actual complexity to encounters.

Honestly...the constant refresh that requires even just a 10 power level grind EVERY 3 months is about pushed me off. I finally found another game I enjoy every day. F-ck these clowns. Let 'em do what they want and sink this game already. Jump off and enjoy other stuff.

Having done Master VoG last week (the hardest version), and running another tonight, it is genuinely my favorite iteration of any Destiny raid. It still isnt a cakewalk at 1340, but I do have my own raid group. I will admit that there are some tweaks they can make to the loot, like making it more farmable, making Timelost weapons drop once you unlock them, etc. But overall they dont need to change the system overly much. Its meant to be hard, you get stat-focused armor (all of which I havent seen drop below 63 total) and you get adeot raid weapons which, for once, actually matter (looking at you, Harrowed weapons and armor).

They had hard-mode raids right in D1, prestige Levi was fine as well. Then they did a complete 180 and screwed up hm EoW and Spire... You'd think they would have stuck with what worked in the past, and learned from what didn't work... Bungie logic though. I agree with OP, there is a whole bucket list of what is wrong with master VoG, and I'm not just necessarily talking about the difficulty.

I really don't understand why it doesn't have contest. Without it people are reading it as they need to get to that power level, which is clearly not the intention.

13 RepliesSo get to 1340+ if you want to do Master VOG that badly. Thats like season rank 210 ish. Master VOG is not different than prestige raids back in the day aside from champions.

3 RepliesEdited by NYDIBS: 7/12/2021 2:10:54 AMJust equip lower level gear if you want hard content - problem solved

9 RepliesI think this depends greatly on what happens next season. If VOG stays the same power, but players can get closer/further ahead then it will become easier. This means hardcore players will enjoy their time lost weapons this season and average players will need to wait much longer to get them. I'm in favour of that design, tbh. It avoids locking people out of activities forever (trials) with all the problems that come with that, and still allows those with no self esteem to do the showing off to strangers they so desperately need to do. (Last bit mostly satire. Mostly.)

2 RepliesAgreed, it doesnt make much sense, especially since over time master vog is just going to get easier unless they raise the power, in which case applying contest would just be simpler.
-
Not interested in it, I'll never run it

10 RepliesI don't know why they didn't add a cap. They should have capped people at 1330, 20 below like in contest mode. Make it hard and make it so that there are no workarounds to the difficulty. Master VoG as it stands is one of the hardest activities in the whole game, easily tied if not harder than GMs, except GMs have no workaround while Master VoG can be trivialized by... afking shattered throne and grinding repeatable moon bounties for hours on end. Love it when difficulty can be circumvented by xp farming methods which involve either effectively or literally not playing the game. Next paragraph going to sound extremely elitist however I have to speak my mind so be warned. The only merit to having no cap is that it means people who struggle now will have an easier time later in the season when they are levelled up more, but arguably they shouldn't be able to make it easier for themselves. In my opinion it should always be equally as hard for everyone so that the only people who get a clear are the ones who truly deserve it, so that there is absolutely zero room for excuses about "it's catered to streamers!" "only no lifers can play this much!" "not fair for me who plays 2 hours a week to not be able to play!" because everyone is on the same playing field.

Edited by Chucky: 7/12/2021 10:11:08 AMThe only reason I can think of why contest wasn’t used is so people can eventually out level it and feel like their power level actually mattered. This my assumption of Bungie design choice, not my own.

Are you 1350? No? Then what's your problem?
