What if Dredgen Yor’s Ghost was ours?
I know this is probably a bit far fetched but as far as we know, Dredgen Yor’s Ghost is still alive. I believe its name was Vincent? Anyway, we know it was seriously opposed to Rezyl Azzir’s actions as Dredgen Yor and so it left him. So what if that same Ghost is the one that rezzed us? We know Ghosts can choose a new Guardian because Jaren Ward’s Ghost is now linked to Shin Malphur, so how cool of a parallel would it be for Yor’s Ghost to choose us?
12/07/21 Edit: read the fifth entry (Moths to a Flame II) in the Pigeon and the Phoenix lore book. It’s implied that a Ghost can in fact choose a new Guardian at the end of the chapter.

Cool idea but our ghost waxes lyrical about how it watched all the other ghost find their guardians while it searched for us. I’m pretty sure our ghost never had a guardian before us.

I just want to say, he didn't really leave because of Yor's actions, Yor offered him to either leave, die, or basically be associated (almost synonymous) to his name and actions. Anyways, ghost is our ghost, not saying it can't be Yor's past ghost, but like the crow...like everything in the game states, don't go down sorrows road which is the past.

There would have been hints to such if this were the case, as it would be too big of a plot detail to cover up for very long.

It’s unlikely, but it would be an interesting direction to take the story in; and it could help solve the issue of our guardian being mostly disconnected from the story at large.

I’d really liked that. The only think that opposes it is that our ghost says they were searching for us for a very long time. Whatever the case, I hope the story of the Dredgen’s and Rezzyl Azzir isn’t finished yet.

I think our Ghost might more likely be one of the ones with Micha because she did mentions a few, and they went to the Cosmodrome.

Jaren Wards Ghost is linked to Shin Malphur but it didn’t make him a Guardian if the lore card about the baby guardian whose Ghost was killed it indeed the origin story of Shin Malphur. Because instead it means that a Ghost can transfer onto a Guardian whose original Ghost has died. The lore surrounding it is weird, but this interpretation is fairly simply. A Ghost has one charge to bring someone back as a Guardian. Once that’s done, they establish a link to said Guardian. If the Light of the Guardian is drained they are dead even if their Ghost survives because they cannot raise the dead twice. Same way a Guardian is rendered powerless if their Ghost is killed, but both still retain their own connection to the Light in the absence of their partner. So long as they don’t die themselves. This is why Shin was able to pair with Jaren’s Ghost. This is why both Jaren Ward and Dredgen Yor took an immediate interest in Shin upon arriving in Palamon. He already had a link to the Traveler, he simply lacked a conduit to wield it. So, in this interpretation, that would be impossible.

1 ReplyI think it would have left us once we dabbled with darkness. I do definitely think it would be co to have this ghost show up as a vendor some where. Maybe make him like xur but sell legendary weapons with random rolls on random locations each week. To make it different from banshee, he could sell limited access weapons like trials, raid, dungeons, ect.

Jarren's isn't actually his, Shin's ghost died when he was a baby as a diversion for his family and their party. Shin never died alongside Jarren, had no idea he was even a Risen until Jarren's Ghost saw it in him. It's why Jarren took him in. Every account of Shin afterward doesn't indicate any chance of death, and since Ours couldn't do shit for Cayde (even though Warlocks could have), it'd be hard to imagine Jarren's being any different under similar circumstances. The best chance is Shin has never died or been seriously injured. Jarren's Ghost pairing with him in a general sense doesn't automatically "bind" them as we would be with ours. No Ghost is known to have risen 2.
