Destiny is becoming inaccessible for those who cant grind 24/7

Yo. During covid etc EVERYONE has had an unsurmountable amount of additional time to grind in games and Destiny has been one, especially with the season pass, and weekly directives, to keep people entertained and busy during it. And for me, Destiny has been a godsend to me to get me through it whilst im away from family and friends, I love the lore and the action - even though sometimes I get insanely frustrated. But as things somewhat normalize in the world and people are going back to the unfortunate hustle of balancing work and life, it is apparent, especially with the release of Master VOG. That if you don't have the time to invest in an INSANE amount of grinding then you're locked out of content. How is that fair for those that cannot invest the same amount of time that they did during covid? or don't play Destiny for a career as a streamer or content creator? 1350 power cap in content requires an exponential amount of Destiny game time which is a huge expectation on the player base as you pretty much solely have to play Destiny to be at that point for Master VOG release. And I am assuming that as new seasons come out the power cap rises, requiring another huge grind. I want to enjoy Destiny in the future when the world is open again, not feel chained to one game in order to feel like I can play all parts of it. The grind is becoming too much. For things like this... ***EDIT*** Lots of people saying 'this is just one thing' or 'it isnt that hard'.... Well that wasn’t and is not the purpose of the post, the Master VOG is an example how much effort and grinding it will take for your light level to be effective in specific activities, regardless of what they are. It is a big undertaking and also considerable investment into ONE game, for you to take part in such activities. Considering the world opening up and what I can imagine, a lot of the player bases time being diverted back to 'normality'. It feels simply inaccessible in a 'normal' world. ***EDIT 2*** I myself am light level 1340+ across 3 characters because I have been able to grind. And I’ll be trying my hand at Master VOG soon. So this has nothing to do about moaning for content I cannot play. It’s about the wider player base and those who aren’t in positions to dedicate what little game time they have to one game that demands your grind. I’m not saying everything should be so easily accessible. But it shouldn’t be so narrowly set that a minority can really be the ones to accomplish more end game

  • I still have no idea why you kids think every activity needs to be completed RIGHT AWAY. You literally have over a month to grind for it but no, just cry on here for attention instead.

There are 2 activites that require an artifact level grind. Master VoG and GM Nightfalls. How can you possibly say it is becoming inaccessible when the 2 hardest activities in the game require high power? Especially when everything else basically has the gates thrown open?

      • Where have you been since Warmind? Destiny has always been inaccessible for the Casual Player. Bungie despises Casuals that make up 99.9% of the Playerbase.

        • I guess I’ve finally reached my limit with this game. I don’t have the desire to play it anymore. To grind 20 bounties a day. Play the same strikes. Same crucible and gambit maps. Same lost sectors. Same singularly relevant raid over and over again for weapons I had in Destiny 1. I managed to push myself to get to 1340 and that’s where I’m stopping. Are all the ads in Master VOG red swords while they’re normal for my friends that no-life the game? Sure. Does that make me salty? A little yeah. Is it enough to get me back to grinding? Hell to the naw. To the naw naw naw. I’m having more fun on Mass Effect 1 and that game is 14 years old 😂

              • Well said! I just returned to d2 after a few months of hiatus and have had to grind like it's the answer to world hunger to get from 1209 to 1278 and I'm still too low to be able to enjoy or even participate actively in some events and game play modes. I firmly believe there should be a way to come back to the game and increase your light level to something like 20 below the lowest average light for that period of time and not have it cost silver so those of us who cannot dedicate every day to the game can come back and still enjoy all the game has to offer in a reasonable amount of time.

I totally agree. These addict fan boys, with no life, will always defend the grind. For me, I just can't do it. My game time is limited and I split it with multiple titles. I will never again do everything with all 3 characters. Never again. Destiny 2 isn't worthy of all my game time anyway. Bungie has proven time and again that they do not respect our time AT ALL.

                    • The grind is Bungie's way of padding out a game that has very little content. It gives people the false belief there's a ton of stuff to do.

                      • Do normal Vog and normal nightfall's what's the problem? If you don't put in the time why should you be given the best loot for the least amount of effort? That's like saying I know I can goto school and get a degree, earn $10 more an hour, but I don't have the time so I'm not.

No activity in the game requires you to grind 24/7 to gain access to the activity. Even casual players efficiently grinding for only a couple hours a week are able to grind to a high enough power level to complete every activity in the game, especially this far into the season.

I agree that power grind is bad but to be fair you are not expected to do master vog at 1350. Based on the gameplay experience, it is supposed to be done at 1330 or 40. Getting to this is still a bit of a chore and is definitely a pointless roadblock, but it is not as bad as people who think you need to slave bounties to +30 make it out to be. What you are saying is very true though, the game has unneccesary chores. Even for me, who is on summer break with nothing but a part time job and enough time to play destiny to my heart's content, stuff like milestones, seasonal challenges, and bounty grinding is unbearably boring and I don't do it. In my opinion, Artifact power bonus needs to cap out somewhere. Somewhere managable. I would say +10 but maybe +20 if they really want to pad that player engagement. Contest mode should be active in GMs and Master raids, giving people no reason to grind past 20 over the powerful cap. How you get to 20 over the powerful cap is up to you, can be a mix of pinnacles and artifact level, but contest mode needs be active and needs to cap people out at a power level that is not a joke to access but is also not a "do bounties all day, do all your milestones, do seasonal challenges, play the game 10 hours a week" roadblock. It is no secret that power levelling is a terrible system, and it hasn't changed in a very long time. People are getting bored of this system and they are opting out of content because they would rather miss out than participate in this hamster wheel seasonal grind. You can say "You should have to play the game to get access to endgame content", which I see no concrete non-anecdotal reasoning for but I can understand why people say this, but when "playing the game" is the same gameplay loop that has existed for like two years now and that no one likes, it gets old and needs to change.

You don't need to be 1350. 1330+ and you can complete master vog. It's been 3 manned full run all 1340. People are farming mats on templar. Have a proper build, awareness and survivability. I agree about bounty farming being lame but you can hit 20 power on the artifact by just doing the seasonal challenges and playing the game. I work full time and barely touch bounties yet I'm over 1340. For context 3 man master. https://youtu.be/_swrX0-4_ek Also https://youtu.be/VqRMGr2T__0 He makes good points. I've also been lucky to be on vacation atm to finish my soltice quick. Downvote away.

Master VoG ain't for everyone, end of story. It's not supposed to be accessible, and I find it funny that these forums went from making Quira too accessible to the whole games inaccessible within the span of a week.

                      • There really isn't much. You had/have more than 13 weeks to just complete Vault of Glass, a few story missions, do the new event a couple times to get bored of it, and gain 10 power levels which is already optional. The Season Pass you can max out in less than a week of NORMAL/MINIMAL playtime using challenges. This isn't Destiny 1 grind, which was fun don't get me wrong, when even just using weapon perks you have to grind the weapons xp to unlock one by one. There is no grind cause there is nothing to do after a week or two of play when the seasons are many months at a time.....

                      • Sorry there is only 1 activity that requires a certain power level to even launch and that is the GM NF. If you bought it you can start it, you are not licked out if the master VoG, completing it on you and in no way counts as being inaccessible.

                      • I agree. It takes hours each day to grind three characters. Don't tell me to just do one. I enjoy the differences among them. I don't play Crucible, Iron Boner, Raids or Trials because, imho they suck or are too time consuming. Even so it takes time to grind for cores and shards and planetary materials and bunnies. You do know that if you shoot one of those bunnies that dash across the road that you get a gold engram - right? At least that's what I read somewhere. Anyway, it isn't fun any more. Same bounties, same lost sectors, same public events, same, same, same. Europa is bland and boring and was cheap to make, which is the important thing, and I don't got there. Stasis is one dumb clunker of an idea; I assume that it was Luke's. My only recourse is to withhold my money in the hope that the Bungie boy owners get scared that they might have to get jobs and fix this crumpet.

                      • I’m personally just not having fun anymore. The game went from feeling fun and rewarding to grindy and unfulfilling. Every season for the last year plus has been trickle feeding us blips of story content through these “Not Gambit” style public events. Tired of the “it’s the same thing, only different” seasonal model. Tired of the lack of updates to PvP and Gambit. Tired of the unrewarding weapons grind. Tired of grinding for light level. Destiny had started feeling like a job rather than a hobby. Except it’s one of those shitty part time minimum wage jobs where your only incentive to come to work is being able to make enough money to keep coming to work. The people you work with are cool, but at the end of the day you know boss man is just taking advantage of you and doesn’t give a single solid shit how you feel about it as long as you keep showing up.

To me the game is just boring. Stopped playing for a year then came back. Got bored again after a couple of weeks. Same enemies for 3 years, not enough changes to light subclasses, too much content removed from the game, too many nerfs, too many annoyances like champions. And that thing call sunsetting. How can anyone have confidence in the grind anymore after that?

                        • It's a live game looter shooter Mmo.... There's always gonna be some grind attached to it...otherwise the game would die. If you only have a couple's of hours per week you can still do most thing and raid...maybe GM and that master VoG will be locked for you but honestly if you don't play that much these activity aren't as rewarding for you I see a lot of peoples complaining about the levelling but the thing they don't think about is if we go back to a 100% gear level based max power will be locked behind GM,trial and raids...which will disadvantage way more the peoples currently complaining about artefact leveling

                        • I get it. 1321-1322 on 3 characters. I try/tried to run bounties. Clan is ok but don't really play with them. So, I lone wolf most of the time and rely on what I can matchmake when I have time. LFGs are fine, but it's time consuming and not as rewarding as D1. So, I play for the hell of it and when I get bored or frustrated with pinnacle grinding, I leave and play another game. I get what you're saying.
