Let’s say our ghost died
The Darkness subclass tab says “unleash your inner power and unleash it on the physical world”
And in order to attack Eramis we must “unleash the power within”
Does this mean if our ghost died we would still be able to use stasis because we would just “unleash the power within”?
-
Going with what everyone else said, I imagine we might loose class abilities and jumps but beyond that I think we’d keep Stasis
-
Yeah we can use stasis but we won’t be immortal.
-
Yes we could still use Stasis/Darkness but it is our ghost that revives and heals us so if our ghost dies, we’d lose our immortality. Also our connection to both light and dark is allowing us balance, without the light, we’d probably become corrupted. We are not 100% sure how Elsie uses stasis, it’s possible that it’s through a shard or maybe even something to do with her pet fish thing.

Edited by Foxlariat: 7/6/2021 3:51:55 PMyes! because the darkness isn’t tied to our ghost, and we’ve even witnessed non-lightbearers use it. aka: eris and elsie!

6 RepliesPossibly… the two ways I think of it are: 1. Stasis is the power within. We’ve seen two people without ghosts use this power (Elsi and Eris) so it stands to reason a lightless guardian can do the same. 2. That cutscene may not be canon or they were using special devices made by Elsi instead. I lean more towards yes, but only those who are blessed by the light can wield and withstand the pull of the darkness. Drifter is a lightbearer, Eris has already been touched by darkness, and Elsi is blessed by an amalgam of light and dark. Basically, Eramis used the darkness (stasis), but eventually that caused he to go insane until she was consumed entirely. Elsi and the drifter are odd cases, but Eris has been confirmed to at least be tainted by the darkness after what she did in the Hellmouth. Without our ghosts and the strength the light provides, we’d all fall to the madness of the darkness.

It's complicated. The answer is generally yes. We can at least. Other beings are a bit more questionable. The story would seem to indicate that Stasis is found within and anyone can use it. But I don't think it's quite so simple. Otherwise, well... everyone would use it. Eramis wouldn't have to have it granted to her by the Darkness. Hell, even before that, if anyone could find this great power inherently within themselves then it stands to reason that people would have in the past and then taught others how to. In all honesty, I don't think Eris or Elsie use stasis unassisted either. I believe that Eris is granted stasis through her rock after that cutscene in the pyramid on Luna and that Elsie perhaps has a shard of darkness to help her. Either that or maybe it is dependent on some other factor. Perhaps only powerful beings that have killed many, (thus becoming strong in the eyes of the Darkness), can manifest it properly without assistance, and only if they have been taught how to at that. We don't know and probably won't ever definitively find out how it works.

2 RepliesYes, we could still use Darkness powers even if our ghost died. The only things we'd lose is our Light abilities and resurrection (unless we learned how to resurrect ourselves through Darkness, which doesn't seem implausible if you think about it). As several others have said, you can look at Elsie and Eris who seemingly didn't need to use a medium in order to use Stasis despite neither having ghosts.

Edited by Ty’Riis, Kell of the Hood: 7/6/2021 3:25:18 AMThe two are separate so yes, we would still be able to use stasis. Solar, Arc, and Void are all natural elements that the guardian harnesses through their light. Stasis (and our other darkness subclasses) are aspects of the Darkness itself and are part of US.
-
Yes. The darkness is apart of us and we no longer need to use the machines like the fallen. Well us not every other guardian
-
13 RepliesUhhhh...... The answer here is pretty simple. Yes. Look at Eris.........Ghostless and Lightless........still used Stasis.
-
Yes. This was showcased in the campaign was Ghost was frozen and we lost our Light.
-
Yes!!! Darkness isn’t tied to our Ghost unlike other elements. If we lost our Ghost we would lose Solar, Arc, and Void… but would continue having Stasis.

26 RepliesTo answer no. Because it’s light infused. Call it what you want but stasis is the ice/frost power that was wanted long ago in destiny 1. Void is more of a dark power than ice ever could be. Bungie and anyone who believes it will say it’s a dark power because the fallen acquired it before the guardians did or at least that’s what I’m guessing since I haven’t played since before season of unworthy dropped. Bungie is still trying to spend that the guardians are the bad guys over all the enemies trying to wipe out humanity. So take your pick. The only way that the ice power would be considered to be usable without the light is if bungie deems it so.

5 RepliesYes. Eris does. Elsie Bray isn’t a guardian.
-
3 RepliesYes, anyone can wield stasis. Erimis and her generals could, the stranger could, and Eris could. All of these either never were guardians or are no longer guardians.
-
4 RepliesI imagine we could still use it but there’s no revives without the ghosts. I’d like to see stasis get powered up but the moment you select it for use, you play in a constant darkness zone where revives aren’t possible.
-
Remember when eris morn used stasis in that cutscene close to the start of BL? yeah, that pretty mush answers the question.
-
Wasn't the ghost powerless to help us when we were half frozen by eramis then she froze ghost then we tapped into stasis freed ourselves and the ghost
-
Eris Morn lost her Ghost and she was using Stasis
-
I honestly think so. many guardians were completely corrupt by the darkness meaning there most likely be a middle ground a balance if we lose our light we could be completely consumed by the darkness
-
Yes the darkness is innate strength not power from a deity or the great machine as they call it. Ghost channel the light not darkness though on one of the lore tans they speak of mutated ghosts so maybe down the line yes but as it stands no.
-
Eris and Elsie already answered that question.

8 RepliesEdited by Unbreakable Patches: 7/5/2021 12:25:28 AMWhy wouldn’t we be able to? The ghosts have nothing to do with our stasis abilities, nor does the light. Not to mention, Eris and Elizabeth are able to use it and neither of them are lightbearers.

Yes we could , but we won't be revived if we die
