If one at all.
I’m genuinely curious what people are thinking after we get 55 Shotgun/120 HC nerfs.
My guess is 340 pulse rifles (Messenger, Stars in Shadow, etc) and fusion rifles, but I’m really not sure.
Interested to know what other people have as hunches/guesses.

Unbalanced

Edited by DiZ: 7/4/2021 2:13:51 AMThese are my guesses in no particular order:
- 140 Hand Cannons(Dire/Palindrome) - 340/540 Pulses(Messenger/Gridskipper) - Slug Shotguns(though it's really just Chaperone and Duality) - Still 55 Shotguns, but only with Full Choke(looking at you Felwinter's) - SMG/Sidearm with a Sniper/Arbalest - 180 Hand Cannons with damage buffs for 3-tapping Small shoutout to Retold Tale, though it's very difficult to get a good roll, so you'll rarely see it. Also small shoutout to MIDA, as it's niche allows it to be usable in any meta so long as the user has good positioning. And another small shoutout to High-Impact Fusions(namely Glacioclasm), which will have a slightly easier time beating Shotguns after this nerf.
3 RepliesEdited by $hirtless Captain Kirk: 7/2/2021 6:27:09 AMHand Cannon/Shotgun. It'll just be slugs and 140s. Big changes😂 They're literally morons.
-
It'll be 140s. People were already complaining about them before they moved on to 120s

1 ReplyWe may be leading to a balanced meta the way bungie is lowering critical damage but not touching body damage on the 120 hand cannons. Obviously hand cannons will remain meta… But I think bungie is taking us back to the d1 body dmg/crit damage balance which would be awesome. We will have the growing pains via the first patch but still.. a good sign

140 hand cannons (bless up Hawkmoon gamers), lightweight/slug shotguns, I have a beautiful messenger so I’ll be using that more, and unfortunately more grenade launchers. How fun…

3 RepliesEdited by michael: 7/2/2021 12:47:17 AMI would bet anything that the next meta will be bows and grenade launchers. We are repeating the D1 trend where all the primary weapons and traditiona special weapons are being nerfed so many times that the presumably weak, troll weapons are the only trees left standing in the forest. Another shotgun nerf pilled on to the 46 they have gotten in the past 7 years, another hand cannon nerf, dead mans tale nerf, everything that is good is getting weaker. Bows and grenade launchers are pretty good as is, and if the stuff that people normally use keeps getting nerfed then they will become the meta because god knows weapons like that are immune to nerfs. How could you nerf a bow? Im not saying I disagree with the patch notes. I am neutral on shotguns, I think they are fine as is and that people need to give up with complaining about them but if they are going to be nerfed I dont care, and I agree with 120s and DMT being way too good right now. But if stuff doesnt start getting buffed instead of nerfed then we will have nothing left but bows and GLs, because they are high damage low skill weapons that allow you to kill people quickly without being outright one shot kills. Its the same as D1 when the meta devolved to ice breaker, NLB, sidearms, and fusion grenades, which is a suite of weapons that if you told a year 2 player was going to be the meta a year later would make them laugh in your face and call you absolutely crazy.

10 RepliesEdited by Oryrk: 7/1/2021 10:31:54 PMSidearms an Tracerifles 🥺 Also honestly messenger is meta asf . Desperados makes it actually feel like someone is cheating when they kill you with it
-
The same, maybe more made launchers and chaperones but can’t see it being much different
-
Hopefully not bow/sidearm. I like staying off meta…. Keeps my play style safe from nerfs.
-
It will still be the same.
-
We gettin a rapid fire pulse meta
-
Everyone leaves it alone I hope

Edited by Astrosa: 7/2/2021 8:33:55 PMI’mma still use shotguns and fusions Shotguns have been nerfed many times and will continue to get nerfed Because in the right hands it will always be op and to people that don’t know how to back up and stay at range it’s broken

Pulse rifles & autos. Slugs are going to be an absolute pain in the butt for some people. lol Personally I would like to see Bungie add a lightweight frame auto to the pool. I think there's only one and it's a blue.
-
7 Replies140 Handcannons, specifically Ace, Palindrome, Thorn and Fatebringer and Lightweight shotguns/Slug Shotguns I can almost guarantee Chaperone will be the King of Shotguns next patch.
-
2 RepliesDouble primary. They're nerfing special ammo. Specifically sidearm on controller, smg on mouse. Paired with scouts, handcannons, or pulse rifles. You'll see the occasional fighting lion paired with sidearm or smg.

Edited by A_mo: 7/2/2021 1:35:02 PMNot sure but one thing I'm somewhat afraid of is top tier players having more room to use their 140s. They are such "elitist" (in a good way) weapons and since I use pulse rifles I'm expecting to hear things like "pulses are too forgiving" and "pulses are basically auto rifles" again. The good thing about 120s was that they couldn't really defend their overall "ease" of use. Should be fun. Actually kind of welcome it because the overall shotgun that 140 users tend to employ will be toned down.

Year 1 fighting lion spam. With a touch of auto rifles. 360s and 450s are performing quite well atm
-
I see 600 autos and fusions

3 Replies140s and fusion rifles. . Then fusions will get nerfed. Then snipers become dominant. Then they get nerfed abs it's back to shotguns We've been through this like 5 or 6 times already
