Is crown of tempests better than geomags?
I know that every warlock uses chaos reach.
And of course, they pair Chaos reach with geomags, which increase duration and can top off your super bar
But crown of tempests on the other hand will increase super energy VERY QUICKLY, and you do not have to be close to your super, plus it recharges abilities, but it cant increase the duration of chaos reach
What do you think is better

it's a toss up, use them both, tickle fingers is fun an more fun with the helm, but nothing like topping off the tank with Geo and BLAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! I center round leg exotics for the Warlock, for there are many to switch two an use, that way I can keep all the other legendary, (less swapping) but it's totally about what your taking on, what you need to use.

As is, the regen rate on Crown simply isn’t enough to be desirable. It seems to give back at the same rate that Nezarec’s does (at 1 stack at least, 2 and 3 are faster), but with stricter activation.

Crown for top geo for mid never use bottom guess there's some neat arc soul builds where eye of another world might be cool

3 RepliesIt’s nice because it’s doubles up with your ionic traces and gives you nearly limitless ability energy. Anyone who believes geomags are superior to crown outside of boss dps is clearly not thinking straight. But that is just my opinion.

I think the two exotics serve different purposes, and are both VERY strong in their own regard. Geomags help chaos reach do better damage for raid encounters with a DPS check, such as Atheon. Another upside of geomags is that they require very little input to reap the benefits of the exotic, only requiring you to sprint to get the final 20% of your super. Crown of tempests on the other hand is extremely good for situation where there are a lot of smaller enemies that need to be killed, such as battlegrounds or Shuro Chi encounter in last wish. Additionally, crown of tempests has the advantage of being more capable to synergize with armor mods. My personal favorite build with crown of tempests is using bottom tree storm caller, the heavy handed charged with light mod, the sustained fire charged with light mod, and monte carlo; I utilize a few other mods such as ashes to assets, but that is the basic layout of the build and can get you very fast super cooldowns. Finally, chaos reach does have the advantage in higher end content such as grandmaster nightfall's, in that it can be used from much further away and can be cancelled at any point to drop yourself back into cover. All in all they are both very good exotics that serve different purposes, so which one is stronger depends heavily on the situation they are used in.

If I want faster ability energy and a long ground roaming super I go crown. If I want to run for the last quarter of my super and a huge lightning laser then I go geos.

Crown of tempest in activities like mayhem or strikes with grenadier is a lot of fun. I cant get it to work properly anywhere else, sadly.

Geomags are just more consistent and waaaay easier to use.

Crown is inconsistent, you gotta be alive and keep yourself alive so the timer is granting you energy and it only works on ability kills. Geomag is nothing special but its definitely consistent, you will always start capping your super as soon as you reach 85% and all you gotta do is sprint. The super is far better than stormcaller since it melts other supers and can be deactivated quickly so you can save some energy and then proceed to get some kills for that 85% to cap out super again. Crown of tempest used to be far better but of course bungie as usual nerfs without hesitation and made top tree arc chains extremely weak and reduced their range like crazy that its not worth using anymore. Stormcaller has a ttk and cant even deal damage to any hunter in the middle of a dodge. It takes 6 ticks to kill other supers which is just so bad and the super barely has any armor so its easy to shut down by a simple shotgun melee combo.
